The first restaurant in Western Springs to serve liquor since prohibition, Vie offers guests the opportunity to experience urban fine dining in a warm, relaxed village setting. Conveniently located steps from the Metra station, Vie attracts food-conscious diners from the entire Chicagoland area. Guests will find sanctuary in the intimate, gracious dining room housed in a two-story red brick building in the center of Norman Rockwell’s Americana. Chef Virant’s cuisine reflects the seasons, local harvests and the world becoming a smaller place. While the menu celebrates artisanal foods and local family farms, it also takes advantage of the increased availability of specialty foods from across the globe. Vie features Seasonal Contemporary American cuisine inspired by Western European cultures and rustic fare. Virant elevates familiar dishes by relying on the simplicity of a few, high-quality ingredients.

Vie Ratings and Reviews
It may sound like hyperbole but for our 21st anniversary dinner...it was the best meal we shared in our 21 years of marriage. Each item lovingly and creatively prepared. Every taste prompted conversation. 2+ hours of the pleasure of ambiance, flavor and the best company. We are going to more regularly visit Vie.
One bite was all it took to confirm every good thing I had heard about Vie. Each course (in our 5 course tasting) was complex, balanced, yet incredibly familiar and seasonal. Truly one of the finest meals I’ve ever experienced. The pear and curry cocktail (yes, curry) may be the best example of exotic-yet-familiar flavor combinations. Simply the best cocktail I’ve ever had.
Delightful and elegant dining. Outstanding attention to detail from the table settings, the servers knowledge of the menu, specific ingredients, unobtrusive refills,: menu selection was wide and varied: the food absolutely delicious using a variety of flavors, textures, colors and tastes. Always a memorable evening.
Forgot to give us menus. The fresh pepper they use is too strong, and the vinegar on the Vie salad too acidic.
The gnocchi appetizer was good. I had the lamb config, it was very good but there were only minute strands of lamb mixed in with the beans and sausage. Small portion.
My spouse had to whitefish and it was very good.
We ask for a scoop of ice cream for dessert and you need a microscope to see.
Not sure that I would go back unless a special occasion warranted it .
Wonderful atmosphere, beautiful & romantic. The wait staff was very attentive. Chef was very accommodating to my specific dietary needs. The food was very good. I would recommend this restaurant to friends. Our birthday celebration was a very pleasant experience!
You run out of superlatives when describing Vie,Hip but elegant. From your greeting to the check everything is top notch. Not one to typically order soup but the Apple Cheddar with roasted cauliflower seen to interesting to pass up and it was. Farm to table from local artisans who provide fresh ingredients that the kitchen brings all together .We enjoyed the Grilled sturgeon and the Beef combination.Vie never disappoints
Had a great meal with friends developed from a business connection. We did a 5 course tasting menu. The food, wine pairings and service was terrific which I felt reflected the experience I had hoped to convey in appreciation of the chance he provided to develop a new business relationship with his client.
I will look forward to another meal at Vie!
The decor were clean and elegant style. All the staffs were well trained and made you feel very welcome from the time you walked in throughout till the time you leave. The food were delicious but it was on a pricey side. We were celebrating a birthday and it was an AMAZING touch that they served us complimentary prosecco which set the right mood for the night from the start. My friend and I decided to split a salad where the kitchen portion it in half for us in 2 plates which was great. The services were attentive but not overbearing. Our water were constantly refilled and the environment were enjoyable where we spent few hours chatting there that night. I will definitely come back for special occasion and when their menu changes in different seasons.
Our foursome celebrated both a wedding anniversary as well as a birthday at Vie over the weekend and the experience surpassed all expectations! Paul Virant and his team continue to impress every time I dine there and it is a great place to dine and hang out with good folks. The food was amazing as always and the service was top notch from Michael our waiter down to the service help - something that is lost at most establishments anymore. Highly recommend Vie for both its ambiance, quality of ingredients/ flavors, service and quite frankly a very good Value given the experience you receive there. Bravo!!
We celebrated our anniversary at this local favorite! They always do a fantastic job of making us feel special! They printed "Happy Anniversary" on the menu and started us off with a complimentary glass of Prosecco! Fantastic.
The food was outstanding, both in taste and presentation. The staff is attentive and takes the time to answer every question, and explain what you are eating as they deliver the food.
We highly recommend Vie!
The meal was overly spicy. Those spices overpowered all other tastes. The waitress and staff were kind and the chef recooked the meal without the spice only to deliver an undercooked, tasteless plate. I left without eating but paid the price. Good people nice atmosphere but poor food. I would not recommend it to anyone.
I am new to the area and went to Vie on a colleague's recommendation. My friend did not steer me wrong. Vie has jumped up to the top of my list for favorite restaurant in the western burbs. Not a bad comment to be made. Overall, a fantastic culinary experience throughout.
It was my wife's birthday and we were visiting Chicago as she had business there. So this came as a pleasant surprise, we saw some good reviews online and tried it. She was delighted, our waitress was amazing, she treated us to champagne, gave us some amazing suggestions in terms of their appetizers, entrees and to top it all she got us their buttercake on the house to celebrate my wife's birthday.
We will be back there, wife loves it and thank you for the amazing team at Vie.
Cocktails were amazing. Mescal has almost a cigar flavor, but it's good, and the flavor combos worked. They gave us a free congratulations desert, as we were celebrating a new job. The writing in chocolate was so thin, it looked like it was written in pen. music was alternative/classic rock. Decor was pretty cool. I'm into smoking meats and pickling, so this place was a perfect match for my taste. One of the few in the suburbs, who can boast a Michelin star.
Wonderful experience highlighted by the great service from Michael and his team (David included). Did the tasting menu, and truth be told, food was closer to a 4.5 (I rounded up). Probably would order off the menu next time - allowing both of us to have exactly what we wanted. This is a special place for special occasions and we can't wait to return.
