My family and I met at Vie's for a family get together. My mother is in a wheel chair and uses a walker. Vie staff were very helpful and supportive of her. The food was delicious. Everyone found something excellent to eat.
Vie is a fabulous choice for good food and service.
Great service and gorgeous restaurant. Has a city feel but larger space. The corn and blueberry app was my fav of the meal. My white fish dish lacked overall cleverness, it was just fish with beans and rice. My husband did the pork combo which was good and clever. I could have done without the entry bite to the start of the meal. The crepe cake was awesome and the jelly finisher was yummy. The bread was also very good.
Love this restaurant. This is my go-to for a date night in the Western suburbs
Though excited to join friends for a mutually convenient suburban location, we walked away from our first dining experience as nice but wasn't impressed with Vie based on reviews and expectations. The service was fine and the staff never made us feel rushed. It was relaxing and enjoyable from that perspective. We definitely felt the value for the $$ wasn't worth it. The entree selection was limited and definitely overpriced....disappointing.
The food was fantastic and beautiful. The atmosphere was romantic. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly as well as attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Unique and wonderful menu made to perfection in an atmosphere that is not overly pretentious like other fine dining establishments in Chicago. The wine list, presentation, and richness of flavor on the menu is a fantastic adventure in dining that rivals Les Nomades and Everest. In fact, having been to all 3 restaurants, I prefer Vie. This is truly a hidden gem of fine dining experience that is reasonably priced and operated with sincere care. The owner/chef has made a wonderful fine dining experience in the burbs, entirely possible! Thank you!
Such an upscale ambiance yet very local gathering place. Great for business or special occasions. Love this affordable restaurant with easy dinning and elegant ambiance. Farm to table!
Our evening started with a friendly greeting of the host and banter with fun & engaging bartender Patrick .
We tried many dishes, all quite local, thoughtful and interesting- "Very Vie" with pickled accents and vibrant colors. I found it to be a true value to share plates. Chef Paul came out to say hello which was a treat. . Looking forward to returning again soon!
Fantastic food. Great experience. A little pricy.
My happy place. Downtown eating in the burbs. When stressed, my husband and I go here for something special. No other restaurant in burbs like it. Midwestern ingredients spun in unusual ways.
It was our first time at Vie this past weekend. The pre-fix courses were absolutely delicious, very reasonably priced and portions well beyond what you'd expect for a pre set menu. Definitely will be back soon!
The service was welcoming and gracious. This attentiveness did not change when I expressed some disappointment and regret about my first course--not having made a knowledgable selection regarding the ingredients of that dish though they had been aptly listed. (I expected potato gnocchi though it had stated 'semolina.) Without hesitation our server whisked it away though it had been my ordering error and replaced it with a wonderful and tasty lamb sausage dish on a delectable crunchy sourdough pecan toast. This was followed by a main of wood-grilled sturgeon with grilled corn and unbelievably tangy rich sauce, with a whipped parsnip addition. A fantastic dish which left no room for dessert
Go for a lovely meal and evening
Great food. Outstanding service. Good location & atmosphere.
Bad mojo - for some strange reason with my family the fantastic meal and experience always ends with bad vibe ...
Vie never disappoints. We were happy to celebrate Vie’s anniversary. Hope they remain in town for many years to come.
We entertained out of country company who we have not seen in over 3 years. They have always wanted to dine at Vie so I hastily made a reservation and we were all thrilled. We told them how great the food was as well as a great place to hold a conversation. Lots of catching up to do. Not less than 5 minutes after seating, the shrill of a baby crying and screaming at the table in front of us left all of us on edge. Who would bring an 8 month old baby to a fine dinning establishment. We had to endear this shrill for over 1 1/2 hours. The couple soon realized that everyone in the room was very ticked. Grandma tried in vane to calm and walk the baby but the damage was already done to all of our moods.
Amazing ambiance, high end with welcoming casual neighborhood vibe. The food is incredible in its combinations of farm to table yet extremely reasonable. Ranked 34 out of Chicago's top 50 restaurants. This is a gem in a local neighborhood setting. Our go to place for special occasions.
Wine by the glass isn't very varied. I had a pinot, cab and Bordeaux (trying to find something good) and they all basically tasted the same. The room we were in was FREEZING...and our server was just okay. The staff in any of their rooms tend to stand around a lot. Everyone at our table got a steak knife except me...but i was the only one having steak! The food makes up for all of this, but it definitely makes the overall fine dining experience less than it should be
Another amazing experience at Vie. Great whitefish and eggplant dishes, along with gnocchi and perch appetizers. Wonderful!!!
Love this place - our go to spot for great night.
Food way too salty...asked to see the chef twice..he never came out. This was our favorite restaurant fo the past 10 years..Sadly it is not anymore..Very sad.Tha entire meal was highly disappointing. It certainly was not like our past experiences at Vie.....Shari Tischler and Dr.Allan Muehrcke..Best Of luck to you.
Excellent food, excellent service, all around great meal.
We love Vie. We’ve dined here on many occasions. Tonight was first bad night we had at the restaurant. The waiter we had was below average and so was the food. Very disappointing and unlike any other time we’ve gone.
Absolutely amazing food. We had the 8 course menu and every dish was so flavorful and the staff was attentive and friendly. I plan on going back.
Friend from out of towns 60th birthday.
They even customize the menu of the day to say happy birthday on the top. They made a special cake for her that said happy birthday and treated us like royalty it was a superb meal and we felt valued
We very much like Vie and we’re happy to get in on short notice. I was a little disappointed with mixed service - we had to ask who was taking care of us after no one waited on us for a bit and then it took a very long time to get my cocktail, well after my husband’s drink came. The Vie burger was adequate but nothing special, although the French fries were delightful. Rest of service was just right. We will go back, just a little disappointed this time.
This is one of the best restaurants in Chicago and by far the best in the suburbs. Excellent food consistently! BBQ Week is an exceptional value as are Sunday Suppers and Restaurant week. If you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion this is a great ambiance worth the splurge! The cocktails or wine pairings are outstanding and the service is on point, memorable and not pretentious. Overall an exceptional experience with a top rated National restaurant not to be missed!
Every meal we have ever had at Vie is memorable. Our dinner on 7/28 was the last day of BBQ Week at Vie. It was an especially fun night trying Chef Virant's spin on barbeque. What a great meal! I would highly recommend visiting Vie any night but BBQ Week is something very special.
We always have a great evening when we dine at Vie. Paul Virant has assembled a team that works together seamlessly, from the hostess who greets and seats you, to the table service team that brings water and bread and plates of yummy food out, hot from the kitchen, and including the waitstaff, bartender and kitchen crew. We ate during BBQ Week. It was delicious and we will be sure to watch for it next summer!
The menu was creative but the price point is too high! The drink I had was a specialty drink and way too Smokey flavored and not to my liking at all, the pound cake for dessert was somewhat dry. The staff was very friendly and attentive.
This is our favorite suburban restaurant! Upscale yet not at all stuffy. Love the food and atmosphere! And, their mixologist makes wonderful, original alcohol free “mocktails”!
Vie always proves to excel in all categories. The feel of being truly welcomed and cared for by all of the staff is 100% The food is absolutely outstanding. The variety and seasonal choices are amazing along with the changes of the menu(s). Never seems like the same thing. Compliments to the Chef(s) and the entire Vie team!
It was barbecue week & the food was fantastic as always. I just wish it wasn’t so noisy. I like to hear what my dinner companions are saying
What a wonderful surprise! We had the best night and were surprised by the extra touches the staff did to make our anniversary so memorable. Our food was so delicious and we noted how the staff brought our entrees based on our pace. No pressure and no rush.
BBQ week is just another great excuse to visit Vie. Of course, you should be going there regularly to try Paul's (and Dan's) creative use of well-sourced ingredients. Stephanie makes sure the service is top-notch, comfortable, knowledgeable, and friendly. While Julius and his team (shout out to Patrick) devise clever libations behind the bar. But DO NOT MISS DESSERT - Angelyne is a pastry chef you'll be reading about for years to come.
We asked about the tasting menu but there were items that I was allergic to so we decided to make our own tasting. Bottom line - we created our own 5+ course and gave every course a perfect 10.
Ok the potato gnocchi were a little heavy and I love gnocchi/gnudi but made with ricotta.
But you must have the Perch, the Snails, the Roasted Corn, etc etc.
My wife and I shared each serving and kept saying Wow!. Being a gourmand and part time home chef we felt that Paul's restaurant deserves 2 Michelin stars not just 1.
worth a trip from anywhere to VIE in Western Springs.
Always a great experience. Waiters are very helpful. The drinks are ever-changing and inventive.
Have never had a bad meal at Vie.
Vie is upscale dining outside the city. The food is top rate. Staff is friendly and attentive.
Delicious food with a great presentation. Excellent attentive staff.
This was our second visit to VIE. It certainly did not disappoint. My wife had the chicken milanese for a starter and I had the Lake perch. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the flavor spot on. The lake perch was exceptional. This is the first restaurant that I have found that actually knows how to cook this gem of Lake Michigan. Reminded me of Phil Smidt's. My wife had the whitefish and I had the sturgeon. Both of them were perfectly prepared with lots of flavor. One note about the service. The service at VIE is certainly worthy of a Michelin starred restaurant. Excellent!!!
Top notch all the way around! Had the 5 course tasting meal for two to celebrate a friend’s birthday. From the time the reservation was made online until the meal was completed, we had the most personal, friendly, and professional service!
Stephanie welcomed us and confirmed all our plans, Patrick masterfully created our pre-dinner cocktails. Cai (sorry- not sure of spelling) served and described every delectable detail of each plate. Nacho was such a pleasure in helping with table side service. I could go on and on about the service which was beyond compare!! Everyone we came in contact with at the restaurant was so welcoming and genuinely friendly!
Chef Paul came over to greet and thank us and wished my friend a happy birthday.
Every course was delicious! The ingredients and flavors so creatively curated!
Can’t wait to go back!
