Vie was excellent. We went for restaurant week with a group of friends. Every single option and course was delicious and the wine pairing was great as well. The service is always impeccable. A fantastic evening!
My husband and i went tonight for restaurant week. FABULOUS. The service, ambiance, and the food were all top notch!! We'll definitely be back!
Restaurant Week got us interested in VIE. The food , service was excellent and cannot wait to go back. Tasty flavors for my dinner and my wife menu selection was a great compliment to mine. ☮️
We originally found Vie through Groupon. The meals we have enjoyed keep us returning. The tasting menus are worth the price. Chef Paul's preserves are exquisite . They bring to the plate the added umami! We eat at Vie at least once a quarter and for special occasions. My husband is gluten free and I have a shell fish allergy , they accommodate us with a great alternative. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Chef Paul does seasonal offerings and we have never had the same menu twice. Definitely worth the drive to Western Springs. Or take the train , only half a block from the station.
We went to the restaurant last night to celebrate a birthday. the kitchen was very slow in getting our meal out.
One of our drinks came out after the appetizers came out.
It was a fixed menu because of restaurant week. 2 choices per course. A very easy week for the kitchen. No excuses for the slow service. Furthermore the wait staff did not explain the menu and when asked questions did a poor job in explaining the dishes. The staff realized we were upset. Nothing was offered to us not even a birthday dessert per our instructions. We took our dessert to go. By the way the meal was excellent, but none of it was hot. The meals were warm.
Not a good dining experience!
Vie is a favorite of ours! This time we visited for restaurant week and the menu did not disappoint. Every course was delicious and had interesting flavor pairings and exceedingly fresh ingredients. While we sat at a table this time, our favorite thing is to sit at the bar and order a few plates to share - either way, it's a great experience, service is always awesome, and the food is incredibly good.
A real gem. We went for Chicago Restaurant Week and were so pleased with the tasting menu and accompanying wine tasting selections. The fjord trout was the best I’ve ever had.
Restaurant week menu was great!
Dined during Chicago Restaurant Week. Had one of the best CRW menus. We also did a wine pairing that was an excellent value. This restaurant is quite a distance for us but it was worth it. I’m sure we’ll be back
Outstanding! Our first visit to Vie, but it will definitely not be our last.
Wonderful fresh flavorful nice combination, Excellent food great service friendly atmosphere
Beautiful restaurant, beautiful and delicious food. Great deal for $44 during Restaurant Week. I’m glad to see that the quality didn’t go down for CRW.
Awesome experience. Excellent food choices for Chicago Restaurant Week! Very attentive service. Beautifully decorated. New favorite.
We dined as part of Chicago Restaurant Week. The menu was varied and interesting and the food was perfectly prepared. The wine pairings were very good. Service was excellent. Based on our experience we plan to return.
Disappointed in this year's restaurant week experience at Vie. It was a Thursday night and the place was packed. Wait staff seemed overwhelmed. Surprised that the bar was limited in selection for rye whiskey however the wine pairings on the special menu were very good. The menu included pea soup which was good on its own but overwhelmed by the addition of giardiniera. Beef Wellington selection was overcooked as well. We expect an exceptional experience at this highly rated restaurant with it's high end price point and did not have that this time. We'll go back in the hope that this was a one off night for Vie.
Vie never disappoints. The food is always the best thing you've ever eaten; the service is friendly and efficient. We found out on arriving that Vie was offering a four-course prix fixe menu for Chicago restaurant week, and enjoyed it so much we're planning to go back again before it's over. Vie is hugely recommended.
Have never been disappointed; food, service and drinks are over the top.
Went to Vie for restaurant week. Get the accompanying wine pairing.
Food was amazing (as always) both visual and taste. Portioned well.
Chef Paul and his Team do a fantastic job. We’ll be back!!!
Restaurant Week Options were few but all outstanding - a great value. Each dish was full of many complementary flavors. The drinks list is creative, seasonal and provides a large variety of excellent options (mixed, beer and wine). The staff all work together to provide outstanding service, including checking for food allergies, recommending dishes, bringing out dishes freshly prepared & served right away and replenishing drinks.
Excellent food service and ambiance. The service was excellent our waitress was very friendly very knowledgeable about the menu and the choices I expressed a concern about too garlicky of a vegetable and they made it without garlic and it was fabulous. I also have some gluten sensitivities and they brought out gluten free bread pre-dinner which was very thoughtful. The arctic char was amazing and the smoke infused squash was delectable. What a fabulous dining experience.
Food was incredible. Paul and team have put together some great combinations of flavors and textures to enjoy. The whole team makes the experience.
It’s a great spot for a celebration, date, or city like dinner in the near suburbs.
Love this restaurant. Great food and romantic ambiance. Service is fantastic and very friendly. Great for that special night out. Will be a regular here.
Great! Good food, especially the flatbread.
Reasonably quiet ambience.
Our party of 6 on NYE left the restaurant fairly unimpressed due to a few reasons. First of all, we were seated about 40 minutes late for our 9:00 reservations. Then we were seated in the lounge area behind the hostess' stand and every time the front door opened we were hit with blasts of cold air (why don't they shield the tables?) so we were freezing much of the time. The 1st course was served with no explanation - I luckily held onto my menu so I was able to tell everyone what we were eating. We ordered some Pinot Noir from the menu but were told it was unavailable; a similar wine was offered for double the price!! Our server, otherwise was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The food was just okay, fish was extremely salty but dessert was amazing! Unfortunately we couldn't enjoy because we were pressed for time and had to leave by 11:30. We had to ask for the check with our dessert course. For the amount of money we were spending I just felt that our dinner should have been much more special.
Nice choice for New Year’s Eve. Great wine pairings, good food. Don’t know how we missed this place all these years. We will be back!
We go here every year for a New Year’s Eve Eve celebration with a small group. It is always exceptional and the service is excellent. This time however the entrees were just ok. Part of my meal was way over salted and my husbands meal was just ok as well.
Love love love Vie! It is a wonderful gem in the western suburbs. ALWAYS a wonderful meal and service!
We celebrated my father‘s 75th birthday at Vie with my family (adults and kids). It was wonderful! We have the eaten at Vie Many times over the years and are never disappointed. The food is always absolutely delicious, artfully and thoughtfully prepared. I love that the menu changes often, and when the staff knows that there is a special occasion, the extra attention is always perfect.
Wonderful dinner. Beautiful atmosphere, delicious drinks and excellent food. All with friendly and excellent service.
Amazing food & service. The Vie staff is outstanding. The food & drinks are second to none.
Love the farm to table concept as well as the St. Louis gooey cake!
Chef Paul knocked it out of the park. A truly wonderful experience from every aspect!
Absolutely lights out! I have always loved this place, but they really did a fantastic job of helping me celebrate my sister's promotion! Stephanie was great at explaining everything and they went above and beyond to make us feel special. I will definitely be bringing more business to this wonderful farm to table establishment!! What a true suburban gem, 5 stars!!!
We had a reservation, showed up on time, and stood at the front desk as the lady described the menu to someone on the phone. Zero eye contact or acknowledgement of our presence. About a couple of minutes, someone finally came to greet us. First time eating tasting menu style and we were pleased. After the 8 courses and the little “pallet cleansers” here and there, we were thoroughly stuffed and satisfied. Actual food was delicious and creative. We did find a tiny random piece of food hanging off the edge of one of our plates. Ambience was modern, with neutral colors and somehow an open ceiling exposing sheet metal coverings...very industrial and not very in-tune with rest of the furnishings. There was a private party going on, and we could hear unnecessarily loud laughing coming from there. Our waitress was polite and helpful, but I never got to learn her name, and she was nowhere to be seen after the check.
Very happy with the food, but probably wont be back.
It may sound like hyperbole but for our 21st anniversary dinner...it was the best meal we shared in our 21 years of marriage. Each item lovingly and creatively prepared. Every taste prompted conversation. 2+ hours of the pleasure of ambiance, flavor and the best company. We are going to more regularly visit Vie.
One bite was all it took to confirm every good thing I had heard about Vie. Each course (in our 5 course tasting) was complex, balanced, yet incredibly familiar and seasonal. Truly one of the finest meals I’ve ever experienced. The pear and curry cocktail (yes, curry) may be the best example of exotic-yet-familiar flavor combinations. Simply the best cocktail I’ve ever had.
Staff are friendly and engaging. They were able to accommodate us when one in our party was late for the reservation. Food was innovative, beautifully served, and delicious. Perfect for a special occasion.
Delightful and elegant dining. Outstanding attention to detail from the table settings, the servers knowledge of the menu, specific ingredients, unobtrusive refills,: menu selection was wide and varied: the food absolutely delicious using a variety of flavors, textures, colors and tastes. Always a memorable evening.
Forgot to give us menus. The fresh pepper they use is too strong, and the vinegar on the Vie salad too acidic.
The gnocchi appetizer was good. I had the lamb config, it was very good but there were only minute strands of lamb mixed in with the beans and sausage. Small portion.
My spouse had to whitefish and it was very good.
We ask for a scoop of ice cream for dessert and you need a microscope to see.
Not sure that I would go back unless a special occasion warranted it .
No disappointments at all in this top notch establishment. Food and service par excellence. We'll be back and soon.
