This used to be a Michelin star restaurant, used to be. I’ve done four or so Sunday dinners. Since the first, the food quality has dropped significantly. I had a bowl of salt soup otherwise known as corn beef and sauerkraut soup. I was hungry and ate it. When asked about it I told the waiter to have them reduce the salt by 75%. He nodded to quell me, but did he let the kitchen know? Strike one on a three course prix fixe menu. Here comes strike two more like meh so what. It’s chicken parmigiana. Nothing to write home about. I don’t remember dessert that’s how inspirational it was.
Sunday supper was wonderful. Great atmosphere and great food.
We love Vie and proud to live in the same town as the best suburban Chicago restaurant. We are regulars and went Sunday for Sunday Supper. It can be stressful taking two toddlers to such a nice place but the staff is very accommodating and make it fun for the kids. After all this is a family event. Great choices on the set menu. Tried special beet flavored Manhattan which was great. Looking forward to the next visit! Thanks to Michael, Stephanie and Julius for taking extra special care of our kids!
The food and service were excellent. Fourth time I have been here and I’ve never been disappointed.
We were there early (6:00 PM) on a Thursday. That’s the explanation for the low noise level.
We were celebrating our anniversary. Vie was aware of this when I made the reservation.
We were seated at a table for two. Our waiter came to greet us with two glasses oh champagne and said, it’s our treat, happy anniversary. I was taken aback and very pleased. That set the tone for the evening.
We enjoyed an appetizer, shared a salad, individual entrees, coffee and dessert. We retired to the bar for an after dinner libation.
The entire experience was flawless. We highly recommend Vie for two or twenty. You will not be disappointed.

The food is always outstanding. The menu has many things that I’ve never heard of, but everything I’ve ever ordered has been absolutely delicious. Service is impeccable and the sommelier always matches a great wine with your entree.
The ambiance sets the stage for everything that follows. The entire staff was incredibly attentive but not overbearing and very helpful with suggestions. All of the courses were excellently prepared and the Oaxacan Chocolate dessert is highly recommended. We will certainly be returning for more dinners and simply for some of the spectacular cocktails.
Enjoyed the chefs tasting menu with wine pairings. Truly one of the best meals I have ever had. Service was stellar. Can't wait to return!
Fantastic and imaginative food are combined with a quiet, romantic venue. Our table of 4 ordered and shared the duck, char, steak, and a vegetarian option. All dishes were delicious with creative use of spices and flavors. The service is excellent - friendly and low-key, yet attentive. Also, I loved that the staff did not hurry us through our meal - we were there for 2 and a half hours. The atmosphere is modern and elegant.
This is a special occasion restaurant, however. Price per person (appetizers, entree, wine, dessert, and tip) is $100.
Service, food and setting are first rate. One of the top restaurants in the suburbs. Well worth a the drive.
The menu is so interesting and we love everything we have had. Food is prepared perfectly. Service is outstanding as well. This is our new go to place for a great evening.
We visited for Valentine's Day dinner. Was a first visit for us. Vie obviously has a great reputation. Maybe this was an off night, we honestly don't know. The menu was pre-set. A relish tray was honestly entirely unremarkable (slices of seemingly raw carrots, radishes, and an onion dip and baba ganoush which, honestly, could easily have come from a can). A vegetable spring roll was quite good. Then the highlight of the meal, a halibut cooked beautifully and in a wonderful broth. But followed by a salty, overcooked chicken/foie gras which just...did...not...work. Not the taste. Not the texture. Certainly not the visual. The wine pairings were absolutely wonderful. Well thought out. Different things. Bottom line is simply this: for a meal which approached $250/PER PERSON...the expectation for us was, "this meal should be indelibly seared into our brains, hearts, and gut and it should be wildly memorable". It unfortunately was none of that. Really a serious bummer. Again, no clue if this was an off night or what. But it just wasn't special. For most of the meal, it honestly struggled to achieve what we would describe as "average". One couple's opinion here only. Your mileage may vary. It's just very very difficult to believe that Vie got the reputation and staying power it's gotten by serving this kind of blah/who cares meal. For what it's worth...
The food was VERY creative and quite good. My wife and I went for Valentine's and when we got there found out it was a Fixed Price menu for that evening at $125 per person! With a bottle of wine ($75) and tax and tip the tab was over $425. That was a bit nuts, but as the menu was unknown to us until we got there and it was Valentines day we did not have much choice. The prices were not even listed on the menu...so we had no idea what was coming until we received the bill. Make no mistake, the food was outstanding, but $425 for dinner...it was extremely overpriced!
Service was ok but I’m use to a waiter describing the food at this level of restaurant. Chicken dish as a set entree could of been better
Vie is one of our favorite restaurants in the suburbs, but our valentine's experience was well below what I have experienced and expect. We had the tasting meal and it was disappointing! In addition, my girl friend was served a dish with nuts, despite the waiter knowing that she has a nut allergy. He was inattentive at best. Again, We love Vie, but not this experience.
Valentines Day 6 course meal was excellent with the wine pairing. The expertly picked wines to match with the courses helped bring the meal to another level. I highly recommend!
We had a wonderful 5 course meal. The next time I visit Vie, I will ask for no extra salt to be added to my food. Otherwise, it was very good!
Worth a drive from anywhere you live in the city!
Food is delicious and ingredients are fresh. I've been going to Vie's for 13 years now. Always pleased with the experience regardless if sitting in the dining room or eating at the bar. Staff understands service.
We were excited to try the restaurant based on others review. We drove 45 minutes to celebrate V•Day. Because we drove from a bit of a distance we got there 15 mins early. We sat at the bar and had a drink this was a positive the bartenders were great. We finally sat a were greeted immediately by our waiter. He was great. We ordered a couple of appetizers the beet salad (waiters favorite by the way) and our entrees all together. The apps arrived beautiful presentation and then the next hour was so bad. The food was flavorless and had enough salt to clear all roads in Western Springs. Finally we couldn’t even finish the entrees. It was the most disappointing meal experience we have ever had taste wise. Will never return!!
We went to Vie for my boyfriends birthday and it was simply fantastic. Service was very attentive but we were told to take our time no rush. Food on 5 course tasting menu was the best meal I’ve had in years. You pay for it, but this is a don’t miss place, you must go even if just for a special occasion. Loved it!!!
Had a really bad Entree
As always food & service was amazing! If I had one thing to improve it would be the volume of music. It was difficult to have conversation at the table.
Went for Restaurant Week, thoroughly enjoyed the menu. Lots of food, pork first course excellent, loved the carrot salad, the short rib wellington was delicious and the carrot cake doughnuts with cream cheese frosting ice cream the perfect ending.

Very vegetarian friendly and wonderful wine selection. The cheese curd appetizer for restaurant week was one of the most flavorful and delicious dishes I’ve ever eaten! Chocolate panna cotta and carrot cake donuts were a hit for dessert. Will definitely go back to this lovely farm to table restaurant!
Vie is an asset to the Western suburbs. While Chicago claims a number of notable restaurants suburban residents must make a trip to the city to enjoy their pleasures. Vie has made it a priority to deliver a fine dining experience that is normally associated with urban venues (at least in America). The staff is well trained and professional. The food is creative but based upon years of classical training. The attention to detail is laudable. The wine list is memorable for its approach-ability and value. Use Vie as a standard upon which you judge other restaurants.
Very enjoyable. Every bite was delicious and ever changing in flavor.
Excellent food and wine pairings. The place can be a bit noise, but nothing unbearable. Service was very good replenishing water and taking dish away fairly quick. There was also a niece treat in the end by the chef from my birthday.

We were there for the Restaurant week fixed price menu which consisted of four courses. Every single course was excellent! We tried both options for each of the courses and each and every item was as excellent as the last. There was a great combination of pork, Norwegian Trout and delicious vegetables, some pickled, just to name a few. The bar service was excellent with a smokey manhattan which had awesome cherries frozen in the ice cubes. Julius, our waiter was awesome and very well versed in the bar menu as well as the food menu. Service was overall impeccable and friendly making one feel very comfortable.

Such a gem in the town of Western Springs! My husband and I love the menu and wine selection. Service is impeccable, yet not stuffy nor pretentious. Our experience at Vie always makes us feel like a million bucks.
