Vidalia Restaurant - Lawrenceville, NJ Ratings and Reviews
What a nice surprise to stumble across. The service was outstanding and the food was....well, my 78 year old mother said "Mmm this is the best veal ptarmigan I have ever tasted in my life!!" (and she's never easily pleased by food). From the uniquely presented appetizers to the wonderful desserts...I'd def. recommend this place to others. Traditionally taste like so much food we had in Sicily!!!
The only suggestion to improve is to somehow block all the cold weather coming into the restaurant from the front door. It was freezing in there, every time someone opened the front door.
NOTE - always make reservations...it's too small and fills up quickly. (may be worth the wait though)
One of the very few pinnacle restaurant treasures in the Tri-State area with extraordinary, creative Italian cuisine, superlative service and ambiance. Master Chef (and owner) Salvatore Scarlata is a true genius (!) who has originated an incomparable dining experience for his clientele.
We have been wanting to try this place for a long time and glad we finally did! Our meals were very good however, a little on the small side for a man's appetite. The service was very good. The servers were very attentive but not too much that it was annoying. The only drawback was the small room we ere seated in, it was very loud and the temperature was very warm. I think I would like to try the larger dining room next time (it looked like an enclosed outdoor area.) All in all a very good Italian restaurant that is not your run of the mill pizza/Italian restaurant.
Wonderful and cozy ambience with fresh linens on tables. Wonderful for special occasions and the most delicious menu! So many great things on the menu from appetizers to entrees! Beautifully presented, too! Owner really cares about his restaurant and clientele! This is the best reliable standby neighborhood restaurant. Always lovely!
Great lunch get together place.Seating was perfect in the corner for a threesome. The food was not only tasty but picturesque. No one rushed out the door.I made a reservation because I thought it would be busy and that was the first question ask.So---glad I did.
Menu selection, service, and dinner were outstanding. Ease of parking is a plus. Could use a larger waiting area. High noise level, customer conversations but got use to it. Very cozy. Definitely will be dining there again shortly. Note, Vadilia has 2 dining areas. We dined in the smaller area, probably the original restaurant, but there also an adjacent dining area which would be quieter. It’s also BYOB. Next visit I’ll opt for the original restaurant.
We had tickets for a show at the McCarter Theater in Princeton. We had seen some positive reviews for Vidalia and decided to try it. So glad we did! Interesting and varied menu, the food was delicious. The service was friendly and very good, and we really enjoyed our experience.
It is small so the tables are quite close and you tend to hear and be heard by the nearby tables which is really the only downside. But it was not enough of an issue to keep us from coming again or recommending it highly.
I came here with my family for my 40th birthday and had an unforgettable time. The service was excellent. Our server was bright, attentive, professional and service-oriented. The owner came out to check on us twice and then had the opportunity to speak Italian with my stepfather who was visiting from Sicily. I got serenaded in Italian and will never forget the laughter and good times shared here. The steak starter and the beet salad were scrumptious. My pasta dish w/ fennel sausage and fresh ricotta was lovely. I had some sort of lemon curd almond paste dessert and every bite was heavenly. Thank you thank you!
We frequent Vidalia, as we live so close and usually have a good experience. This was our second New Years Eve dinner there and we were not happy.
We were seated and welcomed by a nice server. She took our order based off the pre fixe menu. Our first course came out to us quickly, which was nice. Then the salad course. I requested a house salad as I cannot have cheese and it came out with cheese anyway. They corrected the same. It took time for them to clear this course and also time for our entree to come out. We actually didn't see our server until it was time for her to bring dessert. She did hook me up with an off the menu dessert due to my dietary restrictions, which was nice.
Overall, I understand it was NYE but they did not appear to be as busy as the years before. We did not feel for the price that the menu options and service were what we paid for.
Very noisy due to restaurant being fully booked with NY Eve. The menu was prix fixe which I don't like. I sent an email to the restaurant via their web site to ask whether it was prix fixe that night. I never heard back from them. Four courses is just too much for me to eat and it was $70 pp plus tax and a 20% tip. The food was good but it was cramped and very, very noisy. Seating was not comfortable.
this small restaurant had a nice intimate atmosphere and the wait staff was pleasant and attentive. The menu is too extensive for such a small restaurant. The entrees are overpriced and the value just isn't there. The food was overly pretentious....not one thing on the menu was simple.... The salad and entrees were mediocre. I could do that at home. We won't go back.
This was my first time here. Went with a colleague from work for lunch. The salmon salad special was excellent. It was noisy due to some Christmas lunches. Restaurant is BYOB so important to note that. Good menu selection. Cozy environment. Will definitely go again.
My Husband and I on our days off, (date night) we either travel to NYC for dinner or our favorite restaurant which happens to be Vidalia. The Chef is always on premise which is always a major plus and the staff is absolutely wonderful,.. The Food is always consistent, the Osso Bucco is my husbands favorite, and am a creature of habit as well I love the mushrooms stuffed with sausage, and the lasagna, OMG the red sauce is the Best. Also a plus if you decide to stay home you can order/pick up. If you have not tried this restaurant put it on your list its a must!
Amazing as always. Chef Sal and his team never disappoint- from service to cuisine. Our meals were delicious, paced perfectly, and beautiful to top it all off. Service was paced perfectly with a kind, knowledgeable waitress, and the restaurant is so cozy and beautifully decorated for Christmas! We had a great anniversary dinner.
A very special little place tucked in the back streets of Pretty Lawrenceville.
Server was well informed about the menu choices and offered the perfect service .
Food was creatively prepared
Very homey and quaint
We will make our way back with friends soon
