Went to Vidalia for the Valentine’s Day prefixed menu. Very disappointed in the food. Spent $200 on flavorless lamb and lobster (in addition to the subpar appetizers). At the end of the night, they ran out of the desserts on the menu. They offered gelato instead, which ended up being the only positive food experience we had. Servers were attentive but food was more than disappointing.
Wonderful homemade food! We enjoyed Valentine's Day 2019 here and were impresses by the timeliness and pace of the meal.
Although our meal was good, we have had other meals there which were exceptional.
We went to Vidalia for their Valentine's special dinner. The food was solid, not spectacular. The service was great. We were seated on their porch which made the event less special - though they warned of this in advance. Two issues made the experience off-putting. First, they seem to favor reservations taken over the phone over those placed through Open Table. Second, they refused to honor a gift certificate and there was no warning of this in advance.
The three of us had three different dishes; all were totally different and equally delicious. Unfortunately, among two couples seated behind us were a couple of rather loud people with loud laughs--not the fault of the restaurant.
We're never disappointed dining at Vidalia. The food is classic, fresh and delicious--as if your Italian grandma also happened to be a gourmet cook. The service is friendly but not intrusive. We love that if we say we are splitting something, they'll offer to split it and bring it out plated individually. We always leave feeling delighted--it is a neighborhood gem!
This is the second time I've been to Vidalia. The food is either one note or completely flavorless. They also over-microwaved our hotlava cake dessert and it was dry, burnt and tasted terrible. The coffee wasn't even good. Service was polite, but slow. This is the LAST time we'll eat here.
the apps were very good , the entree were not that good my son ordered filet mignon special which came out raw we sent it back it then came out with no mashed potato just the meat . Over all not a good exprience
Vidalia never fails. Splendid creative Italian menu. Very generous portions (tomorrow's lunch - yum).
The Osso Buco was tender and delicious.
3 star experience at 5 star prices
We were seated in the main dining room. It's claustrophobic. But, in terms of ambiance being seated in the adjacent enclosed "tent".
We shared an appetizer & we each had a salad. Both courses were very enjoyable, flavorful & delicious. It went downhill from there.
My entree was served to me way before hubby's came to the table. He had to watch me eat.
We both ordered "specials" of the day. I had the baramundu. The polenta that accompanied my main course, was tasteless. Hubby had the cioppino. The mussels were teeny. Not worth the price we paid.
I save Vidalia for special occasions. This one was my birthday. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. The restaurant is perfectly small and intimate. I highly recommend.
What a neighborhood gem! The food is delicious, and the offerings are both unique and classic - something for everyone. Only negative - we asked our server about a possible pasta substitution; she never got back to us on that. Lovely setting any time of year. Definitely recommend!
Not what we expected. Without question one of the best Italian meals we have had in a long time. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Way beyond our expectations. Can’t wait to return
Delicious; the simple Cesar salad with the cannelloni was a great combination. This is my idea of comfort food.
We went on a rainy Friday night to celebrate our empty nester status, and made the reservation at 6:30 pm for a 7:00 seating; as a result, we were seated in the enclosed, heated patio area. It was a bit hard for them to control the temperature because some guests were too warm while others (me!) were freezing. That said, it is a BYOB which is always nice because you can control your costs. The food was hard to choose because everything looked and sounded great! We had the stuffed onion, the Caesar salad, a special phyllo dough app and a chicken entree along with a duck entree. It was really very nice, and the chef came around to check on us. We saw the inside upon arrival to get seated and it looked charming. I'd like to go back and try more of the great sounding food! A definite thumbs up :)
Great Italian. Cozy space. Good service. Recommend mozzarella app, chicken francaise, eggplant parm.
Birthday. Great service.
All I can say is "I'll be back"!!! The food was delicious. The service attentive but they didn't rush us. A gem of a find.
The portobello mushroom panini for lunch is out of this world! So delicious. This restaurant is a guarantee of good food, good service, good ambiance. Lunch or dinner you cannot ever go wrong here.
Delicious fare, fast preparations, and great menu! Well worth the trip for lunch or likely dinner, my colleagues and I were there for a business lunch and it was outstanding!
Food was delicious! Service was attentive. I'll be back!
Fantastic experience. One of the best spots to escape with the one you love for a wonderful experience and stellar service.
Food and service was amazing! We were in the outside covered patio so it was a little loud but warm and spacious. Will definitely visit again!
excellent food, some original dishes along with some classic options.
Unfortunately pretty mediocre all around. Food was passable but nothing special. Decor is very tired- please ask someone for help choosing the art on the walls- ambiance is important. Shouldn't have to ask to have a bucket to chill expensive champagne. For the record, and please share with your servers because I heard it pronounced wrong by all of them, bruschetta is pronounce "bru- sketta". It would be nice to have a local family-owned Italian place with some imagination but this seems to cater to an older less sophisticated crowd.
Excellent service, excellent food, impressive and this was my first time at Vidalia. I would highly recommend it to others
Lunch here was very good; it's nice to try it now and then, although I think their dinners are always the best,
Great from beginning to end! Service, food all awesome!! Thank you!
Always a good selection of seasonal favorites to be found at Vidalia. One of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. Wonderful ambiance, excellent menu, reasonably priced, great service. Plan ahead for reservations as the dining room is small and can get crowded quickly. BYOB
Vidalia has to be one of, if not my favorite restaurant. I regularly drive from the UES in New York City with my fiancé to enjoy all of the exciting creations from Chef Salvatore. The welcoming and personalized environment that Salvatore and his family have created is a delight to experience and I highly recommend using the space for a private party if you can get a reservation! Amazing menu - one of the few places I always eat at least 4 courses. Some of my favorites include the Vidalia loaf, stuffed mushrooms, Caesar salad, amatriciana pasta and the scallops. I usually finish off with a cappuccino and tiramisu if I have room! Love Vidalia and can’t wait to go back!!
Excellent meal to celebrate my daughter and son in laws anniversary!!!
The best pasta I ever had in this country 👌💥 just the perfect sauce, perfectly cooked and perfectly cooked seafood. Our favorite place in the area for a last few years and only goes better and better!
Consistency needs to be maintained. Still good overall as I have spoken to the chef with our concerns and he was very cordial and stated he would address the issues in question.
Excellent Food and Service, certainly my favorite Italian restaurant in Central Jersey
The food at Vidalia was absolutely delicious. Went as a family with 2 teenagers, and everyone found something they liked on the menu.
Loved it. Delicious food.
Four of us went on a Sunday. We were there for dinner. We each ordered different choices. My daughter is a vegetarian and found suitable faire with the vegetable lasagna. I had a veal dish. I am always reluctant to order veal, because it tends to arrive overcooked. It was perfect! Very tender! Another dish ordered was the Vadalia.. Not a morsel was left. Another was some fancy pasta and meat. Also very good. Our plates left nothing take home. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Our dining experience was an A +.
Always an excellent experience. The food is cooked to perfection and the staff warm and helpful.
Quaint place. Food and service were top notch. Nothing to find an issue with. My new favorite place.
You will not be disappointed. Quite simply, excellent food!
