The staff was great and the atmosphere was perfect - not too loud so my guests and I could have a conversation without shouting
Loved it! Would recommend
They were a bit slow on the food the night we were there but they accommodated with a free bottle of wine, so we were happy. Also, the food wasn't served at its hottest because our main dishes came out first and our app hadn't arrived yet. I think our food just sat in the back under a warmer while we at our app. All in all a good experience but they needed some kinks worked out (we sat downstairs on a Friday night of St. Patrick's day weekend).
Amazing food and great customer service. Portions are big enough for two people to share! Only thing i would change is how close the tables in the front are to the windows. Makes it a challenge for the servers to get to the back table. Otherwise, a must try. We will be going back soon!
With many Italian restaurants in Chicago to choose from, you may skip Victory, but don't. From the moment you walk in and think you are in scene from The Godfather this place is all about the real Italian experience. Be sure you ask for Bobby, between his Chicago banter and knowledge of the menu (let him at least suggest your apps) you wont be disappointed.
Great, service,food and atmosphere!
Waiter took 25 minutes to come to table. 3 tables that were say after us ordered meals before we even had waiter for drinks. Waiter took the orders by memory and had to come back 2x to make sure he got everything. Appetizers came out and were very good. Entrees came out and one was cold. It was sent back and when it came out was delicious. Waiter comped 2 desserts which were good. When paying the bill, waiter dropped off the check and took 15-20 minutes to pick it up and run the credit card. I had to get the buss boys attention to get him for this.
Overall food was good. Service was bad
Service was poor - really tough to get a hold of our waitress, probably limited the number of drinks we ultimately ordered. Menu looked great, but the food was lukewarm and just did not taste good. I heard another customer send his food back that was "ice cold," so it was not limited to my table. Best part was the complimentary garlic bread. Some serious changes need to be made, there are too many excellent restaurants in the city for this to continue and still exist. On a positive note, the interior of the restaurant has really great potential, but basics like good food and service just are not there.
As an FYI, I never give reviews, but I really felt this was necessary.
Good food, good drinks, friendly bartenders. Looking forward to going back.
As usual, the food from Chef Farina did not disappoint. The space is lovely and our service was professional and attentive.
Fabulous evening with friends.....the bread they bring out was amazing....a very memorable evening!
First we were not seated for our reservation right away even though tables were open. Then service was extremely slow and when we asked to make two of three dishes vegetarian, they did not. Not educated on the dishes. They did comp us part of our check, but we will not be going back.
Been here a few times
Only complaint for now is that the server was inattentive. I needed salt when the food arrived and no one came by until I was almost finished with the meal. Everything else was great. Will definitely go back. A classic old school joint
We are regulars and love it here!
Cozy spot great for a date night. Our waitress was wonderful, friendly and attentive. The food is amazing and home made. Went after work on a Thursday - street meter parking was plentiful. We will be back soon.
Our new Neighborhood hangout!
Warm wonderful ambience, awesome craft cocktails, draft beers and fabulous wine list.
Marco and team treat everyone like familia!
Absolutely Delicious A wonderful variety of
Fresh pasta, seafood, best ever veal and don’t forget
The Bacon Fest winner...Homemade ravioli in sage butter sauce.
Also the Italian Margarita is not to be missed;-)
Always order different meals and never am disappointed.
Too much to list....Love this place!!
Although all four of us enjoyed the food and the service, what put a damper on our evening was the terribly loud and awful music that was playing. We had trouble having a nice conversation with the music (if you can call it that) pounding over our heads. The constant blaring and pounding of the soundtrack was unbearable. The restaurant was full, and each table was talking louder and louder to be heard. The worst part was when we very politely asked the host to turn the music down, and he REFUSED!
We would have to think twice about returning -- even though we loved the food, the service and the decor.
The clientele was made up of all ages. I only wish the host would have taken a little survey and asked if loud, bad music enhanced their enjoyment of the evening.
Turn down the music, and we would be regulars.
Horrible experience tonight. We took friends (6) and food was cold after an hour wait. Our waiter came by once all night. So embarrassed that we took good friends here. Won’t be back.!
I'm disappointed. We discovered this restaurant shortly after it opened. It is in our neighborhood. We've dined here 6-7 times. We love to bring our friends and guests here.
Tonight, we asked for an upper level table. Apparently none were available. (not the first time we've been told this - is it us?) Others who came after though were seated upstairs. The restaurant was understaffed tonight and the service was incredibly slow.
We were introducing our very best friends to this place and I was embarrassed by the experience.
We so wanted this to be our new favorite neighborhood place.
Michelle was our server and was very good and attentive. The food was very good. The place was busy for a very snowy Saturday night. Good Luck Joe!
Excellent food and drink. Good portions and value. Great ambiance. This was our second time there. This time we invited another couple. Two service issues. One major and one minor. We had a 7 pm reservation and was told they were running a bit behind. We didn’t get seated until 8:12! When we ordered I asked the server to make sure the soup for my girlfriend came out first. She ended up not bringing it out at all. When the helper brought the tray of our four entrees out he left. We ended up getting up and setting the entrees on our table. I’m not sure what happened as to why there were running so late. The first time we went we waited 30 minutes beyond our reservation time. I chalked it up to a new restaurant. The hostesses seemed to be confused a bit.
Food was delicious and the service was incredible ! Great first expirience !
Our waiter clearly set the tone for a poor experience, little did we know the food was going to match poor as well. Our waiter did not want to be doing his job that night, at least not four our table of 5 — mom with 4 older teens. We started with a caprese style salad, but with red and golden beets and roasted Brussels sprouts. The beets were hard as rocks as was whatever cheese came with it. The Brussels sprouts were roasted, yet soggy. Yuk! Everyone’s entree was sub par. I had chicken Milanese. It was dry, not even warm, and hard. One child had rigatoni with sausage gravy and thought it was decent. Again. Don’t even let me get started on our terrible waiter.
A really disappointing experience.
The food is delicious. Can be a little loud in the front by the door.
Great experience!! Service was great, food was great we will be back!!!
Loved the meatballs and garlic bread as starters. Entrees were delicious as well and the large portions have given us a few meals. Would definitely go back
Fabulous menu and reasonable. Don’t miss the meatballs...Cesar salad or gnocchi! Great for lunch Friday or Saturday...looking for brunch
Great New Years Eve dinner with my wife before the fireworks. We came into town just to enjoy dinner and the holiday festivities. Glad we came. The service was spot on and the meal was memorable. I have a personal weakness for sausage and peppers along with most veal dishes. The sausage was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of char while my Veal Pizzaiola was mouth watering and came with a beautiful crushed red tomato compote/sauce garnished with healthy and perfectly salty capers. My wife tried the Veal Cannelloni daily special. She raved about the flavor and the sauce. We shared a bit and I couldn’t agree more. Can’t wait to go back and try some of the other menu and daily special items. I have my eye on Joe’s Mama’s Sunday meatball and salad dish!
Good dining experience for the New Year!
Wonderful new place in River North! Beautiful interior, great ambiance with a classic Italian vibe. Great bar upstairs. Food was delicious and portions were ample, with a smart wine list. We need to support new restaurants in this neighborhood, and I’m happy to support this one!
No parking or valet available. Appetizers arrived cold. Entrees were terrible. We have eaten at this chefs restaurant before and were totally disappointed.
Victory Italian is my GO-TO place! I love everything on the menu
THe more we go, the more we love it! It keep on getting better and better. Wish all restaurants could be as on the ball as Victory. Food is just perfect and the service is attentive but not obtrusive.
Wonderful experience all the way around. I wish they would have acknowledged the birthday we were celebrating with a comp dessert or other treat. Portions are definitely for 2 to share, service and food was excellent.
absolutely the best pizza anywhere in Chicago, just like the original in Elmwood Park that was famous for their pizza...now they have an excellent menu also so you can't go wrong, anything you order will be excellent...definitely one of the best Italian restaurants in this great city of food...
Fantastic server (Jaime) and the food is good ole, old school Italian. Started with the grilled calamari, which was decent. Didn't see Chicken Picatta on the menu, but Jaime said, no worries. The kitchen can make it, and, boy, did they ever. Excellent flavor, HUGE portion. My finance stuck with traditional cheese ravioli, which he loved. Happy hour drinks from the cocktail menu ONLY $6! As I often do, I got marinara on my shirt sleeve. Not a problem. Jaime used soap and club soda to wash it out right on the table. Are you kidding me? Service beyond compare. Rarely tip more than my usual 20%, but she deserved and got more. Took home their fabulous tiramisu. Perfect for a midnight snack! Will be back on our next visit!
We had some trouble with our on-line reservation and ended up waiting 20-30 minutes for a table. Once at the table however, the service was very good and the quality of the food was fantastic! Having just returned from a trip to Italy, my expectations of being impressed by the food here were quite low but they delivered fantastically!!
Had a wonderful experience here December of 2018. After seeing Hamilton we decided to flee the loop to the far western edge of River North and were oh, so happy that we did. From beginning to end, a great experience; we enjoyed the bottle of wine we had with our meal, their wonderful garlic bread, and especially the very tasty rustic Italian classics we ordered (I had gnocchi and my bride ordered their lasagne.) Be sure to come very hungry as their portions were legendary!
Celebrated a birthday here! Restaurant is great- service over the top and amazing, as we were asked many times how things were! Food is great- we will be back for sure! Thanks Victory Italian for a great night!
Very good food and Old fashioned was delicious and made correct (All claim this skill, but seldom deliver on it). Friendly staff!
