The food and ambiance at Victor was great. Unfortunately service is extremely slow and our waitress unapologetic. It took over 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive and food about an hour after ordering. Every step of the way we had to ask her how long it would take for our food, drinks, etc to arrive. She didn’t ask if we wanted black pepper. We had to ask another waiter for our bill because she was no where to be seen after dinner and it had been about 30 minutes since our plates were cleared. We made it clear we had reservations at d6 that we needed to make after but again she was unapologetic. Overall we were there for 2 and a half hours just for mains and dessert for 4 people.
The food, ambiance and everything was absolutely perfect last night! Our server, Matthew, was so amazing, went completely above and beyond to make sure we had the best dining experience! Our friend was from out of town and had never experienced such great service and food, from the second we walked in and until we left. We cannot wait to be back!!
We made a reservation for 5:30 so we could attend "Ellen" at 7:00pm. We arrived and were shown our table. Despite having advised the hostess that we had a limited amount of time, this did not appear to have been communicated to anyone, and our table did not appear to have been assigned to any server. We waited for 20 minutes, and finally flagged down a server, who said he was not our server, but took our order. You would think this would have resulted in concern from management to ensure our experience from then on was perfect, but no - we were not served our food until 6:45. The food was good, but the service was terrible and I am concerned about the management of this restaurant if a table can go without being assigned a server for 2 hours...
We really enjoyed the experience but unfortunately something was off with the fresh seafood and we got sick. I tried to speak with Manager who was too busy to call back.
Nothing special, food is not good for the money. Will not come back or recommend
The food was amazing, I had the cowboy ribeye steak-- perfection!! My husband mentioned the brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes were on the more salty side. Our waiter was on point and knows who hes doing ( unfortunately dont recall his name, he even folded our napkins whenever we left the table), def fine dining at it's best here!!!! Lighting could go up a tad, abit dark. But overall it was a nice experience for my husband and I's anniversary! Thank you!!!!
Great food and amazing restaurant situated in incredible spot in Vancouver
I had such an amazing experience here for my boyfriends birhday! Our server was very kind and curteous, chef Jason was spectacular and took very great care of us! The food was delicious and unique. They surprised us with a very special birthday desert platter with sparklers and a happy birthday sign. I was almost crying I was so moved by how much they cared and how much love they put into our experience. Very happy and will forsure come again!
Pricier than other fancy spots. Service was excellent, and food was tasty... although portions were less than desired when it came to garnish with the mains.
Worth the value! You get what you pay for. Definitely coming back!! Great drinks, steaks and desserts.
The restaurant is beautiful as it's brand new and located in the brand new Parq hotel. I was there with my wife to celebrate our anniversary on Thanksgiving Monday so we weren't expecting it to be too busy. When we arrived for our reservation we were brought to a 2 top table by the window but it didn't feel very cozy nor romantic so we requested another table. We were brought to another 2 top table which was against a wall but we felt the table was small and not comfortable as well. The restaurant wasn't busy at the time so we requested a booth where we felt more comfortable. Once we we're settled at our table, we were greeted by our server who was kind and pleasant. She got us out drinks and proceeded to order our appetizer and main course. My wife and I aren't big eaters so we decided to share a soup (7 out of 10), seafood salad (7 out of 10, delicious but points deducted for using farmed salmon instead of wild) and ribeye Wagyu steak with fois grois and Mac & cheese waffles. For a restaurant of this Calibre I would say the food fell short. Don't get me wrong, the food was good but definitely not great for a high end restaurant with high end prices. The Ribeye Wagyu steak was cooked to our liking (nedium rare) but I would have expected it to be better marbled and more tender melt in your mouth. The fois grois was good and the Mac & cheese waffles we're good. I would give the main course a (7 out of 10). I would have to say the highlight of the meal was the "sticky fingers" hot whisky cake which came recommended by our server (10 out of 10).
Overall the service was good but the overall experience was mediocre. I would give it another try to see if it was a just an off night for them. Cheers!
This was my 4th time dining at the Victor and unfortunately the food and the service were not as good as as the previous visits. We were seated at a table by the window with the overhead light burnt out and as the light could not be changed there was no offer to change tables. Two of the guests had the Wagyu rib eye cooked medium rare and both were tough which was surprising as even non Wagyu ones are usually very tender. The sushi order was very good but the soy sauce bottle came almost empty so we had to ask for another one. And one of the water glasses had a chipped rim which was not replaced for some time which we thought was odd as the waiter did come up to take our order but not with a new water glass.
i am voicing my disappointment as we were celebrating my son's birthday and the restaurant did not live up to its former reputation. The room is beautiful and spacious and i hope there is improvement for a future visit. Sincerely,
Great food in a great atmosphere! Will return soon!
Very enjoyable with great service and a pleasant ambience.
Food was exceptional and service was great at first. But it turned very upset oriented and we lost our server’s attention. A hiccup with credit card machines at the end was not handled very well for a premium dining experience.
I would recommend to friends!
Fantastic food and venue! The ambience was beautiful and food was delicious. We took our two children under 10 and they loved it as well. We were there for my birthday and had a great time! Will be going back for sure
Steak was ordered medium rare, came out blue rare. The server took it to show her manager, and let me know they would buy me a dessert to make up for me not eating my steak... I wasn’t interested in dessert, just a steak that was cooked correctly. I would go back, but next time I’ll be less polite about my dinner being cooked the way I ordered so I am able enjoy it.
We had reservations and we had to wait an extra
20min for our table
Ash and the team were excellent!!!!
Our server was the BEST
Food and ambience was good, service was not up to par in respect to the amount of money we spent to go there for dinner.
Wonderful night at The Victor!
We came here for our anniversary dinner and for the most part was not disappointed. We got set up with with a nice window seat and the service was amazing. Our server was super courteous and really made our night for us.
We ordered oysters, salmon tartar, bluefin tuna, the ribeye, and some wine. The steak was amazing and juicy. Exactly what I was hoping for! The rest of the food was pretty good but I wouldn't say amazing.
One thing to note though was that the noise level was VERY high. I was honestly expecting it to be way quieter. We had to yell at each other for the night so that wasn't awesome.
All in all though, a must visit and we'll be back.
It was our pleasure to have our anniversary dinner at a very fine restaurant. The mood was perfect for a romantic evening. The staff was very accommodating and delivered proper and professional service. Looking forward to our next meal at The Victor!
Good service, Nice Location and pleasant surroundings. The Halibut and Japanese Bread were very tasty and well cooked. Unfortunately the Flat Iron Steak was a little tough and not up to the standard as people had mentioned to me. The overall experience was Great though.
Amazing food and service. I recommend it to everyone.
Great service, mediocre food. Keg does a better steak for cheaper.
We booked a bit last minute; next time I would request a window seat. Very nice atmosphere and server was so helpful. Scallops were huge and yummy!
Exceptional food and service. Price is reasonable. The garden fountain is very impressive
We were staying at the J W Marriott Parq and chose The Victor to celebrate our anniversary dinner. We were not disappointed. My wife had the roasted beet salad and the chicken breast with saffron mushroom risotto and said it was one the best meals she's ever had. I had the pan roasted halibut which was excellent.
This is not the place for a quiet dinner. There is nothing in this restaurant to really absorb the sound other diners are making. Despite the noise, we would definitely return if we were in Vancouver again.
Celebrated my 20th birthday here and had an amazing time! The waiter was very attentive and friendly and even provided a slice of complimentary birthday cake. The ambiance there is great for a special occasion & a date ;) I ordered the seafood platter for 2 & Tomahawks steak. Being a foodie and always trying new restaurants, this restaurant is definitely an addition to my favourite restaurant list ❤️
This is the second time I had dinner at Victor. Me and my 2 girl friend had an enjoyable dinner chatting our way under the excellent service of our waiter and sharing the tasty food we ordered. This time around, the restaurant was well lit which I hope will continue so.
First time here. Food and vibes are very good but needs improvements in service. The wait staff were friendly but not attentive. Service was slow and unprofessional.
There were four of us and we each ordered an appetizer and a main, with no intention to share. My husband ordered 6 oysters to start and got 4 forks stuck in the shaved ice on the plate. My cutlery setting had two forks and one knife. After I finished my appetizer I put the dirty fork and knife on the plate but the busboy asked if I was having a main course. When I said yes, he was going to place the dirty knife back on the table but I told him to get me a new one. After a while, I got another fork instead of a knife. Also when the food was served, they just put the plate casually on the table and we had the vegetables facing us instead of the protein. I think some etiquette training for the staff is required.
We hosted our cousin's bridal brunch here and everything was great! From the service to the food - 10/10! Thank you Victor for being so accommodating. The whole party agreed we'd come back again and again!
Great food amd atmosphere. Been many times. Service this time was adequate but not super as previous few times ive been.
Great service and accommodating to big groups (with reservations)
Overall the service was challenging...
Seated by the kitchen...
The bungled the food order when it came out..and the food took forever.
Expensive for what it was ...
Overall disappointing experience especially for my business colleagues.
This is the second time I booked this restaurant. The server is very busy. Music is so loud that we have to shout to each other and have headache from the noise background due to open area. This is a high ended restaurant and no need for the loud music. Food is good but take too long to get served. We sat down at 7:30pm and finally got our bottle of wine opened. The corkage fee is $30. We need to grab our waiter to place an order around 8:00pm. We didn't get our food till 9:30pm. After I told the server that I am diabetic, he asked someone to bring me some bread. Food is good but long wait from the kitchen.
There was a dog in a carry back beside us that was rather distracting with a period of incessant barking. Not sure that it’s considered sanitary to have a pet in a resto. I love dogs, but for some guests at our table this was a bit off putting. The service was a bit slower than usual, but the food was fabulous as expected and quality was great.
Simply wonderful! Great service! Food was excellent and a great variety.
Been to many times and personally think the food quality is not as good as before. Otherwise the service, atmosphere is good
