The hostess was great, our server good, but I made a request from one of the servers (maybe a manager - as he was in a suit, as he cleared our table) to have a birthday dessert come out for the birthday celebrant, but it never arrived and didn’t feel I needed to ask twice after reassuring me something would come out after the meal.
As for our mains, our steaks which we asked for medium well came out pretty well done and burnt in my opinion. They did endeavour to get us a nice window seat so that we could get a view. Will definitely have to think twice before coming here again.
Service and food are winderful
The room was very large and disjointed, the food was wonderful, the service was very good.
The rom... bare tables, iron bases, no tablecloths. An obligatory wee candle on the table. We had a VERY cramped table for two against a wall of uninteresting windows, near the washrooms. Our table could have been in a cafeteria at a Whistler. The room seemed to be a kind of mixed up design with upholstered curved banquette tables, alongside cafeteria style tables. Couldn't figure.
Not the ambience I was looking for on a romantic birthday dinner. The server was great, very good, and very knowledgeable. The steak was amazing, and good value. Cocktails were good, and an extensive wine list.
But... overall, not the experience I was looking for. I was expecting a little more of Vancouver lux vibe, but no.
Interesting place, good people watching. Many women with a LOT of perfume, and dates with apparently deep pockets.
Not overall - won't be returning. And I live in Vancouver.o
Excellent service, very detailed throughout. The steak was good but not as good as I had expected it to be. Everything else was great, from appetizer to dessert, including the wine. The additional scallops were REALLY good!
We ordered porterhouse, but it was barely warm when served. We requested for reheat half way through because it was pretty much cold, but even after reheat, it was still just warm. Probably because it was served on a piece of wood plank, not on a warm plate. Very disappointing.
Second time I have been here, doesn’t fail to impress. Amazing food and service
Great dinner, incredible atmosphere, staff very attentive and caring
Over all experience was awesome ! Service was outstanding. Food was very good .. !
I know my steaks and expected more. Got the Cowboy Ribeye and was very tender and perfectly cooked. Only thing is it did not look like 20 oz steak.
Hostess and servers were very friendly and helpful in their food recommendation. Food was prepared perfectly
It's a Vegas (USA) style of steak house. If you like that it's great. Service from waiter was terrific but he had to deal with several kitchen mistakes. Very noisy as it's mostly a large open room. Only one side (South) has views so book a South facing window seat. Food was good but as with the Vegas style the side dishes are huge and frankly too much. Bathrooms are all single use toilets and kinda messy as they dont use urinals.
Would be a lovely setting in summer. Service was fairly good. Food was not a thing that would draw me back- Vancouver has so many amazing dining places high end and lower. This doesn’t compete We were warned
Oh. Sushi was good tho.
Second Brunch in a row , everything was excellent on both visits . Awesome staff , manager and food ! Delicious food accompanied with great service and a hello from the manager made it a great experience
The space was capacity and loud. Service was good and food was good.
Overall a nice dining experience
HAD THE $160 TOMAHAWK UNDER SEASONED AND TASTELESS
Order a $250 bottle of wine which was decanted and kept away from our table had to hunt down our server for a glass of wine 3 times
Overall terrible service and mediocre food
Will NEVER return
We were disappointed with the food, service, and level of noise. We wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
Mac&cheese waffle was a highlight. Also the creme brulee donuts with maple sugar cotton candy. A bit pricey, but a very good dinner.
We enjoyed a very memorable evening with fantastic food and wine. Great service as well... top notch!
My first visit though watched it grow from rubbles to it's current beautiful form. Menu - food and wine, was extensive. On the pricey side though.
Overall service was very good and our service guy, Rio, was awesomely good at what he does - serving our pleasures unobtrusively.
Will definitely go back for another occasion.
Really enjoyed our dinner at The Victor. Our server took great care of us, and the food was delish. We were there for a celebration and were give complimentary champagne and a sparkler in our dessert.
Top class restaurant serving A+ seafood & steaks! Wonderful servers & cool ambiance.
The food was amazing the atmosphere was warm and staff were incredible! Highly recommend for a family experience.
We went for our Anniversary and had a very enjoyable experience. The food and service was excellent. Everything was prepared spot on and the glasses of champagne acknowledging our special night was a gracious gesture.
Hi to whom it may concern, I would like to thank James our waitress and all the staff who brought the bread, I was celebrated my birthday with my fiancé, everything was amazing, we spent a great night, a little dark where was our table a little difficult to read the menu, however James did a fantastic job, He knows how to delight a guest. Definitely I’ll come back and highly recommend the restaurant. Thank you so much, have a great day!!! See you soon
The food and environment was great. To top it off, our server was very nice.
A treat for my daughter she loved the experience and the candy floss dessert!
steak and risotto were good.
disappointed with the seafood platter. crab tasted dead
Not sure what type of ambiance this place is trying to exhibit bit it was not existent. Service was blah, server did not even ask if we enjoyed the food. Steak and sushi is readily abundant in Vancouver and there are much better choices than this restaurant. For the price point go to Gotham instead for steak, and Miku for sushi.
Ambiance is nice , service was great,
Start with nice piece of bread ( highlight of the meal )
Food presentation really failed for me ,
We ordered uni tacos, wasn’t impressed as uni with soggy seaweed, literally no taste
-Sashimi salad was very poor just few pieces of sashimi toss on top of romance lettuce was not like it described on the menu
-Steak , ordered centre cut ribeye but got something like strip loin steak ,Taste was ok nothing special,
Nova Scotia lobster , it is huge portions but tasteless .
Dessert was ok
Overall It was just Meh meal
Overall dining and food experience was great, went for my birthday dinner. But when the waiter asked if we wanted dessert & we declined he brought one out anyways and charged us for it
Food quality was not at the par to our expectations vs the price.
The restaurant was very accommodating and kind to us although we ran late. The hostess was courteous and kind, and our server was such a delight. So pleased with our server who made the night despite a few hiccups. Unfortunately, for a fine dining establishment and the amount of money you spend, the value is not there. We we're not asked for our coats to be taken, I had to initiate this. They do not have purse stands or hooks available, they opted to put my purse in coat check which was fine. We were told we could not have a certain dish because they were saving it for another party (their money is better than ours?). The wait for drinks went over 5 minutes (for the initial cocktail). The timing of the food was well done by the server, but the food itself was only good (when you spend $50+ on a dish it should be better than "good"). You could go to a Keg or Black & Blue and pay the same amount of money or fraction of, for a more attentive and detail-oriented experience with better value. The tables could do to be a bit larger, as the size of the dishware makes it difficult to put multiple dishes onto the table. You couldn't put more than two appetizers, plus your drinks, plus the candle, bread dish, etc. Also, on two occasions, bus boys came by and took our plates away that still had food on them and did not consult us as to if we were done. That was disappointing and by the time you'd ask for more it would take much too long to have another dish brought out. This went the same for cocktails-- so watch your plates and glasses! All in all, it was a great restaurant. Nice music, great interior, kind staff. I'm sure it was very busy, however that shouldn't dampen the patron's experience. Overall I was disappointed in the value. I would not choose this restaurant for a high-end, fine dining experience, but a more casual, special, fun night out.
Great ambiance and good quality food. I’m glad we ordered steaks for the whole table to share - you don’t need one each!
I heard great reviews but was disappointed at the overall experience . Our waiter and all staff were exceptional . The room had a very young crowd and was loud . The sushi was good but the entres were mediocre . The ahi tuna was cold , the hamachi was over done , the risotto although good looked like a half portion . The steak was excellent and the bruasel sprouts were delicious . We went to the Douglas bar for a after dinner drink .. although the room was empty with very young waitresses standing around .. all the tables had reserved signs on them . We eat out often at all the high end restaurants in town .. this space looked like the we’re catering to a young and hip crowd which I question if long term is sustainable . We will not rush back to either . Did not surprise us that Drake was denied access at the Casino . The treatment in the Douglas bar gave us the same impression .
Outstanding service with Christian and great food and portions!
Food was delayed due to more walk-in's than normal because of the Russell Peter's show. Which is an excuse for saying their kitchen cannot handle the volume.
Chilled seafood bar is correct but please revise the menu to say "previously steamed manila clams"
Quebec Fois Gras was burnt
Bone in Striploin had no sear on the outside and the manager came by to say "oh it's because of the way we cook it - in our 1200degree boiler" - Unfortunately, we were tricked in thinking that's just the way they do steaks here.
Service was good only because the server topped our wine glasses off after we said "we hope we don't finish all the wine before our steak comes"
Very disappointing experience. Visited on a Thursday night. It took 2 hours to receive our main course. We received a free sushi plate - about 15 pieces for 5 of us which did not compensate for the wait. The waiter was pleasant but clearly the kitchen staff could not keep up.
Additionally, when the appetiser plates were cleared the waiter forgot two plates and they sat on the table for 15 minutes.
One last point. There is a 200 % mark up on the wine. I checked the prices against BC liquor store prices before we went to the restaurant. There is a $30 corkage fee per bottle. Use it!
There was hair in my sushi. Manager took care of it right away, but still, cmon. Ewww
Took a couple girlfriends here for a birthday dinner, incredible service from all staff, excellent recommendations, great wine list and amazing food, with a warm and inviting ambience to boot. All boxes ticked! We stayed nearly 3 hours (sorry!) but had so much fun.
We were at the Victor for dinner to a Credit Union Conference. My husband and I come regularly before hockey games and special occasions. I made the reservation for my colleagues and they were blown away.
