The service was over the top and so was everything else. Many congratulations on our anniversary, thanks for a wonderful evening.
One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver. Fantastic service, creative menus and amazing food. Definitely recommend.
Overall enjoyed the food and atmosphere. A nice addition to the Vancouver dining scene.
The only complaint is the pricing of a Martini. A 3 ounce of Grey Goose will cost you $32 plus tax plus tip. This makes the value and experience of the evening diminish.
The patio view was great. I ordered the Charred Octopus as an appi, and it was amazing!
The steak I ordered was great, but it's not amazing as has been reviewed.
My friend ordered the scallop. While it tasted amazing, I felt that it's not worth the $35 cost.
Overall, Victor was a great restaurant and would go there again.
Good service and atmosphere. We ordered good and the waiter missed the appetizer. At the end of the night, he gave us free dessert to make up for it.
Our server was pleasent but our drinks and food took a long while. Crab cake to start was delicious. Rib cap steak was cold to the touch, and not cooked or butchered well. Very mediocre spot charging top dollar prices. Their wine list is pathetically out of date. 3 wines I asked for 3were no longer in stock, and when I picked out wine (a 2012) we were served a 2015 and told "this is what we have". All in all not the experience I would expect for a $500 meal. Go to Gotham.
Excellent modern sleek interior design, fresh seafood, service unfortunately lacking in multiple areas and not personable. However hopefully our experience is not representative of the norm.
Had a great time showing out of town guests this spot. Had beautiful patio seating, a killer tomohawk steak and went to play some black jack afterwards. Thanks Victor for making Vancouver awesome!
The food was really fresh and it’s a great spot for brunch/lunch. It wasn’t super busy and the restaurant has lots of natural lighting. The staff were really friendly and attentive. They have a diverse menu so you’ll most likely find something you like to eat. Especially love the scallop sashimi, xo lobster dumplings, uni shooters, and creme brûlée donuts (you must try these). I would definitely recommend The Victor for lunch and will go back again.
Very accomadating, delicious food and great service
The hostess section is unorganized. After checking in we still had to wait when our table is ready already. For a steak house I was disappointed in their steak. It was overcooked, tasteless and under seasoned. Their halibut was good. It took a long time for our main dish to arrive. Our section was very noisy and loud and hard to have a conversation.
Regular diner to the Victor, always consistently fantastic.
Dinner at The Victor was amazing. We had the pleasure to be seated at Bridget's table and to say the service was superb is an understatement. I have dietary restrictions and my meal was tasty and came out right! Bridget made an amazing wine recommendation and it complimented the meal so well. Grant, the GM came to the table and made sure our experience was elevated! The expectations I had were far exceeded and I will definitely be back.
Thank you again, Bridget and Grant, for making this dining experience very memorable!
One of the best high end dining experiences in Vancouver. Exceptional service, warm and welcoming. Despite it being a high-end dining experience, it's not pretentious at all. The sights, the sounds, the textures the tastes, this is a complete dining experience that touches every nerve in a remarkably pleasing and memorable way. Gets my recommendation, hands down, every time.
Service plus, fantastic food, second time here and did not disappoint.
Great aside from accidentally eating bacon in the Brussel sprouts. I am a veggie
This was my first time at Victor although my friends had been before and loved it. We were a table of 6, and came on the weekend for brunch. The brunch menu is good with sushi, dim sum, regular brunch items and a Moscow mule cart that comes around. The area is really nicely decorated, and there is is a great patio if you come on a nice day.
We ordered dim sum to start and it was delicious, however it took roughly 25-30 minutes come out. Then for mains I had the lobster frittata, my husband had the chicken and waffles and my other friends had the steak and eggs. Steak and eggs looked great, although enormous so make sure you are hungry. My husband enjoyed the waffles although said the portion was much smaller than last time. I did not like the frittata. There was lots of lobster and the sauce on the side was good, but it has no flavor. The only thing in it was lobster. It was enormous and boring. Our mains also took a really long time to come out, so that what is normally an hour and a half regular brunch meet up, took two and a half hours and it was mostly waiting for for the food. The server also forgot to ring in one of the sides, which isn’t a biggie but it only came out after all the rest of the food had been finished and half cleared.
Over all I think I had high hopes because of such good reviews, and was disappointed. I hate waiting a long time for food, and I hate paying a lot for something that isn’t good/consistent. I think next time we will go back to Honey Salt which is always consistent and just downstairs. I’ll try Victor again sometime but I’ll wait a little while...
Great location with an impressive view of the atrium on top of the hotel looking at the BC Place Olympic stadium.
Food: great ingredients made worse by pretentious and silly recipes. Very disappointing food experience.
The steak was totally flavourless, very disappointing. It wasn't seasoned at all. If is also not made at high enough of a heat leaving it warm-ish rather than hot. Gross.
My chimichurri was as poorly executed one as I've ever had. It too was bland which is a feat given of achievement given the total flavour explosion of garlic and parsley and oil chimichurri is supposed to have. If a person is paying $100 for a marbled steak with a side, I expect it to be salty and greasy and have all the traditional elements - not a 20 oz steak I'm going to watch my sodium intake on, barren of flavour and presented with a pedestrian lukewarm brown crust that looks great and tastes like nothing.
The mushrooms I ordered with it were an additional $15 or so, and were absolutely terrible. Maybe the worst idea in food I've seen. Seemed like a chef with a limitless budget ordering expensive ingredients and not knowing what to do with them or how to make them. They were a fancy sort of Japanese mushroom that tasted like tofu, with a weird gelatinous texture and instead of traditional white mushrooms that are greasy and brown after being pan seared on high heat making them meaty and smokey, this was a bowl of semi-liquid string mushrooms swimming in water that tasted like nothing and looked and tasted like undercooked squid.
Same was true for the bread, touted as the masterpiece creation of an in-house pastry chef. What arrived was a tiny sweet bread with onions, more cake than bread. Why play with this? When I go to an expensive steak house I expect traditional warm crusty bread and plenty of it.
Appetizer was tempura shrimp with Thai sweet sauce. What's wrong with shrimp gratinee? Some things need good execution not unnecessary experimentation.
This was my 4th time at Victor. While the food was very good, and the server was polite. We were disappointed with a couple of elements related to our overall experience. First, the washrooms were not well attended, both the men's and women's washroom were in need of servicing and created an unpleasant experience for our guests. Second, the server insisted that we order our appetizers and mains at the same time, as he said we would end up waiting a very long time for our mains if we didn't order everything at the same time, because it was a busy Saturday night. We took his recommendation, however, our mains we delivered to our table while we were only part way through our appetizers. We did not have enough room on our table for the mains, and so they were sent back to the kitchen. This was concerning because three of us ordered steaks medium rare, so they would either be over cooked upon return, or cold. Given the prices charged by Victor, we have high expectations for the service and experience, unfortunately our expectations were not met on that evening.
This was my first visit to Victor for my husband's 59th birthday and I was impressed. I loved the way the ladies at the front greeted us, especially Anisha, she has a beautiful smile! Very quickly seated and had the perfect table. Our waiter, sorry don't remember his name but looked like Bradley Cooper to me, of course a younger version. Very pleasant to deal with and not over the top chatty. Made sure we were happy with everything. The food was delicious and everyone was happy with their meals. And of course the dessert was to die for! Great job and will definitely recommend and be back soon.
Booked for my parents 32nd anniversary. My parents loved it, and could not stop raving about the service and how valued they felt.
Very happy and I’ll be joining them next round. Much appreciated!
halibut was amazing!
Server Jordan was a doll.
The food was creative, tasty and interesting. Victor provided terrific service and everything was timed perfectly. The wine and cocktail list were good. We had 2 simple meals plus 2 beverages (1 was a beer) and the bill was $125 including tip and tax. The room is lovely and the staff was friendly and helpful. We made our reservation 3 weeks in advance but even so, there were people just showing up being seated. It took a long time for us to get seated, but we got a nice seat. They need to streamline that process a bit. Overall a great spot...
Food was very good! Service was slow, took ages to order second drinks, a drink spilled and no help was provided by the server. There was also a rude comment made about the selected cook of her steak. Very unprofessional an rude.
Overall great experience The food was very good but the service was a little slow. Got the oysters mixed up. And while waiting for otters the rest of the allies arrived and within 5 mins the oysters.
No room on the table very crowded. But other than that all good.
We had a great evening at Victor. The food was amazing and so fresh. We started with a few seafood options and you could definitely taste the difference in quality and freshness. The toro tuna sashimi just melted in your mouth! We moved onto steak for our mains and were not disappointed it was cooked perfectly! Unfortunately were so full by the end of dinner that we'll have to go back for dessert.
The only part of the restaurant that was a little disappointing was the slow service. Our waiter was great and very friendly but we found that there were a few points in the evening where we were looking around for someone to connect us with our waiter. I really liked that the restaurant called the day before to ask about dietary restrictions and allergies. Having a peanut/nut allergy it really helped me in having piece of mind while ordering and not worrying about having to tell every waiter that I had an allergy.
Otherwise amazing restaurant, we'll definitely be back and with our friends next time!
It was my mother‘s birthday, service was excellent, and food was delicious. Overall was perfect! Highly recommended restaurant
Excellent Sunday buffet
I recommend the crab cake and scallop 🤤. If you have to pick between all the appies, you may consider skipping the uni toast (it was good but not a wow). The service and atmosphere was commendable.
The oysters were delicious with very fresh horseradish. Sushi rolls were yummy. Waygu steak and the risotto were amazing. Love their complimentary bread as well.
This is an elegant restaurant with personal service. Great range of food choices. We highly recommend.
beautiful ambiance restaurant, very good service but the food at best mediocre!
Wonderful service and perfect for a birthday get together!
Drink list and wine list were excellent however $890 for a bottle of Heitz Cabernet was a bit much. The crab cakes were excellent however the porterhouse that we shared seemed a bit under seasoned to us. Overall, a great night.
Great space, very cool and fun.
Service was great, food was great.
Nice restaurant to have dinner. Steak was quite well and enjoyed it with my friend.
Really good food and timely service even on a busy Friday night. I didn’t feel rushed & was able to enjoy my night out! Drinks are amazing especially the Emperor’s Sour. The atmosphere is lively & comfortable! Will definitely recommend Victor to any friends visiting Vancouver.
Service was slow in general but overall experience was good.
