Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse - Houston Ratings and Reviews
All in all the food was excellent. Many great selections, all were cooked to perfection! The only letdown was the bar service was extremely slow. Over 20 minute wait for our initial drink order. Our server seemed a little un concerned that we were waiting like that. After that it was about a 15 minute wait for cocktail orders. Everything else was good.
This place is amazing. We were celebrating our 24 anniversary and decided to try this restaurant. We arrived 10 minutes early and we were seated immediately. The service was outstanding. They immediately wished us a happy anniversary.
The crab cakes were incredible!! I ordered the prime rib and was amazing. And the desserts were great!
Best steakhouse in Houston
We have dined at this location on several occasions. This time we found the service to be extraordinary, but the food to be uneven in quality. The fish dinner special was overdone, and the lobster bisque had a “canned” taste. The birthday cake was not fresh. The fresh shrimp was wonderful and the steaks were certainly acceptable. We enjoyed the ambiance and the service that Marcus and his colleagues offered us.
I took my boyfriend to Vic & Anthony's for his Birthday..the restaurant was Amazing and so was the food. Our waiter Chris was so pleasant and courteous, he took very good care of us. I will definitely be back and invite my friends. FYI..the crab cake and shrimp scampi is a must have!!!
This is one of our favorite special occasion dinner and business lunch restaurants. It is pricey, but the food is good and the service is exceptional. We recently dined there and I had wagyu beef that melted in my mouth. The wild mushrooms were delicious. My husband’s pork chop was a little dry and tough, but still pretty good. The sommelier recommended an excellent bottle of wine, and Sean, our wonderful waiter, brought a piece of heavenly chocolate cake. We had a very nice anniversary celebration and I can’t wait to return for another celebration.
This was our first time here and my husband took me for my birthday. We made a reservation for Nov. 5 at 7pm. The service was amazing, but the food was even better! The valet attendant was even nice enough to take our picture. We had calamari, oysters Rockefeller, boneless prime ribeye, tomahawk, asparagus, Mac n cheese, strawberry cheesecake, and 4 cocktails and every bit of it was absolutely delicious. He was so impressed he said we would definitely be going back and I can't wait. I highly recommend Vic and Anthony's if you are looking for a great steak or a romantic evening.
There were three of us for dinner. We started with Cured Meats & Artisan Cheese, Roasted Bacon and Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. All were very good. For the main course we had 8-oz. Filet Mignon, 12-oz. Filet Mignon and the 40-oz. Tomahawk Chop (I was very hungry, had not eaten all day). The steaks were awesome! For sides we had Brussels Sprouts, Baked Potato and Mac & Cheese. We enjoyed all of them.
Our waiter was very attentive and personable. We told him that we had to leave by a certain time to make it to the Hobby Center for a theater production that night. Service was very efficient. We split a salad, shared an appetizer, and ordered another appetizer as our meal. I thought the bill was a little high, but the food was delicious. The valet let me leave my car there and Uber to the Hobby Center since Game 7 of the world series had left no parking downtown.
Houston has many excellent steakhouses, and competition is steep. Vic & Anthony's would be very good anywhere else, but its overly corporate ambiance betrays what, in my opinion, is its lack of a soul. To be fair, the evening before I'd dined at Pappas Brothers in Houston, which, in my opinion, is the gold standard of Houston eateries (though just one of many locations, it exudes the class, grace, and excellence very rarely found on the planet). The crowning blow was that I was specific in how I wanted my beef cooked, and it was repeated to me by the server. When I heard her relay the order to a colleague, I attempted to correct her, got a lesson in "local steak ordering," and I was again emphatic on what I wanted... only to find it later delivered and incorrectly cooked (I know the differences and even most regional nuances between "Pittsburgh," "Black and Blue," and "Blue," and I was emphatic about a cold center. The steak arrived, overcooked (decidedly warm center), later offered to be replaced, but by then it was too late. It wasn't the server; in my opinion it is the restaurant.
I'm familiar with nearly every other excellent steakhouse chain and group in Houston, and I was very disappointed in Vic & Anthony's. The only bright spot? The crab cake. However, that is not enough to bring me back, when there are so many other excellent alternatives. I recognize that most of them are "chains," "groups," and primarily managed for the "bottom line," but in my opinion Vic & Anthony's (part of enormous corporate enterprise) has a chain restaurant ambiance and attitude that I can easily live without. I'm in steakhouses about 5 nights a week, but I will not return to this one, and I can not recommend it.
