Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse - Houston Ratings and Reviews
My (medium cut) filet came in raw from the middle, but not a problem since the manager saw me and fixed it right away. I guess it’s because how thick the steak is. Our waiter was okay, not the best to be honest. Did not like the bread pudding. Oh, and after we told our waiter to box everything, he left out the creamed corn....which we had plenty left. I was so eager to have it the next day. Very disappointed. However, overall food was good and hopefully a better experience next time.
Service was excellent; food was good. The wine pricing was absurd. We had 4 of the 5 at our table who were well versed in their wines, especially California. To see a $45 wine priced at just under $400 was a joke. If you go to Vic & Anthony's, be on expense account with a company that can afford it.
Nice and upscale steak house that never disappoints. I’ve been to V&As several times and it’s always something special. I highly recommend the crab cake appetizer, the cold water lobster and their signature bone-in ribeye steak. For sides, I love the cheese potatoes, asparagus and the mushrooms. Highly recommended making a reservation regardless of what night you visit.
This is our go to place for special occasions!! Food is excellent and the service is outstanding. We always get the steaks and they are perfect. Wine by the glass selection is good, since I am the only drinker in the group. Save room for the croissant bread pudding.
It was New Years Eve and of course the restaurant was extremely busy so we were seated at least 20 minutes after our reservation time. Important note: This also happened the last time we were here and it wasn't a big holiday.
The food was fabulous, as always. The service was slow even though the waiter had only 3 tables, 2 and 4 tops. The food came out quickly, it just always took the server a long time to get to our table.
If you drink wine, go in knowing what you want. They have a massive selection, but on my last 3 visits, the servers were not capable of recommending a decent wine.
The restaurant is always very loud which is understandable. I just wish they would not exacerbate that noise with the screeching of local singers in the bar. The sound system is bad so I can't speak for the quality of the vocals, but the sound carry's into the dining areas.
My husband's salmon was not cooked through like he has asked, so he send it back and if cans back very undercooked the second time. Waitstaff was not attentive. They comped his meal but it was not a good experience overall. We used to go here for many special occasions but won't rush back. Disappointing dinner for NYE. A lot of money for less than mediocre meal.
We were looking for a special experience for your 50th wedding anniversary. Vic & Anthony's is fairly expensive, but not out of line for a special occasion. The crabcake appetizers were amazing. Everyone in our party had a steak and the quality was evident. Our anniversary was December 28 and we arrived around 2 pm. The restaurant was virtually empty, probably because it was between Christmas and New Years and mid afternoon. Service was excellent, including serving the cake our daughter brought for the occasion.
Facility felt as if it needs polishing. Booth seats were stained and dirty, pictures on the walls were dusty and full of fingerprints. Having the kitchen open to guests makes for a lot of excessive noise. Due to this noise you hear other servers basically yelling at their guests while you are trying to enjoy your dinner. Several bus boys/helpers were standing around the area making
It feel really uncomfortable. Overall, not the best experience.
This was Christmas Eve and there was no sense of festivity with the servers or the general ambiance. The stairs were decorated but nothing to give it that special aire. Music was awful. "Singer" was wrong for the time...I don't know what she was singing but it was more suitable for New Years maybe. It was late enough that she finished her last set which helped.
Had to ask several times for the volume in the dining room to be adjusted and finally went to the manager. Server was efficient but on the grumpy side so detracted from the event as well.
Food was good but I was hoping for a more holiday spirit in general so I can't recommend it as one wants the whole package with those prices and setting. A busy night can go either way...it can have festive energy or not...all this had was a get it done atmosphere.
Celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary, the service was exceptional. We couldn’t have asked for a friendlier server. He was very attentive and made us feel very special and welcomed. The food was wonderful. We would definitely recommend Vic and Anthony’s to anyone.
The decor, lighting , and seating are very good, and the menu options were also good for a prominent, expensive steakhouse. Yet the evening started poorly from the greeters and never recovered. There is no dress code at Vic and Anthony's except for one thing. We saw several people with denim and tennis shoes, and one patron with a t-shirt, and all this was acceptable, but a professional, class showing fedors was not. Not sure if this is V&A thing or a Houston thing but they would not seat us unless I took off my $200 Fedora that is worn for the express purpose of showing respect and class. Did not understand the reaction, jeans, tennis shoes, and t-shirts are coveted, but a professional, respectable hat was not.
Service was actually too good, it got to the extreme point of annoyance and aggravation. Once we had our water glasses filled (or topped off) three times in one minute, that's ludicrous and agitating. It got so bad with wait staff at our table about every two minutes that we decided not to drink anything so they would hopefully not return. The waiter checked on our meal probably six or seven times, but he was not hurrying us and the restaurant was not busy, he just didn't know any better. We never could have an intimate or personal conversation, V&A was a bad choice.
Food was decent, brussel sprouts option was good, and they did not ruin it with a bunch of seasoning and sauces, just dry grilled, I was very pleasantly surprised. They have a nice variety of reasonably priced meat dishes besides just steak. Bone in filet was okay, but not to the point of stating it was the most popular item at the restaurant. If that was the most popular, folks in Houston aren't used to having a well prepared, healthy, flavorful steak. Again, it was okay, but not really what you would expect for a consummate steakhouse.
