Viale dei Romani
The menu draws from the rich and far reaching culinary history of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, and the Moorish impact on the southern European Coast. Highlights include wood-fired seafood, raw fish preparations, pasta, pizza, and the traditional chickpea crêpe Cecina served with falafel, crudo, and marinated local vegetables; as well as a world class bread program and pastries - with all offerings crafted in-house and by hand.
Excellent wine, very friendly staff, the fish dishes were delicious!
The food was quite good
The service is poor, it took a long time to order and a long time for the food to come out
We were a party of 5 with a reservation, there was not table set up and the options left one person uncomforatable
Half the guests ate their meal on a coach which was too low for the table
It is too bad as the food was really enjoyable
everyone in our party enjoyed their food, especially pasta dishes, once it arrived.
service was slow and rather indifferent.
the staff was not familiar with the wines on their list and it seemed to take rather a long time to bring a bottle to the table.
dessert menu is uninspired.
the noise level borders on unpleasant. though not as loud as many places these days, it was often difficult to understand the conversation unless the speaker was directly across the table.
Unfortunately, from the start of our meal, we waited. We waited for someone to take our drink order. And then didn’t get our drinks for another 20 minutes. And we waited to order food for another 20 minutes. And then waited another 20 minutes for another round of drinks. Our bruschetta and salads were great but everything else was mediocre. There were barely any desserts listed on the menu... We ordered the rice pudding and 2 of the gelato flavors. Somehow all 3 completely lacked flavor. Definitely won’t go back there!!
Great service. Adaptable and attentive staff, excellent food. Try the wood grilled steak!
First ones into the restaurant! Apparently they only make twelve dishes of Pasta alla Piastra (sp?) a night, so we made sure to get it. It was great! Went very well with the Branzino. Very good location and ambiance for a nice dinner. I’d come back!
Always a great place.
Great service and gorgeous restaurant! Food was great also!
Overall very disappointed with the service in the restaurant. One of my guests had allergy to garlic. At the beginning of the dinner, while taking the orders, we were not asked if there were any food allergies for any of the guests. So when the pasta bottarga came out, one of my guests asked if there was any garlic, and when she received confirmation she was not offered to have it replaced immediately. So, she ended up having only a dessert for dinner. Also, I personally order a side of spinach and that never came out. Not the type of service I would expect on a quite Tuesday evening at 8pm.
Food is outstanding. This is a ver underrated restaurant. The lasagna is fabulous. The scene is relaxed and the food is seriously good.
Great food, italian wine list superlative, and charming red haired waitress added moxie and sparkles to our evening. Highly recommended.
Love everything about this restaurant. This was a find - delicious food and drinks - casual but beautiful.
Fabulous restaurant all around by equally pleasing cutting edge boutique La Peer Hotel. Food delicious, great drinks, inviting bar area, large spaces, not crowded- If you want to impress someone with a fun modern good restaurant in an in LA area, this is it. Not so loud either to have conversation.
Comfortable, stunning, delicious and great service
Incredible food and service. Will definitely return.
Always so good, my fave Italian in LA
The rigatoni was WAY too salty. Otherwise everything delish.
Main course fish was barely warm
Love this place though they haven’t cultivated a daytime crowd so it is mostly an empty restaurant. One of our appetizers was terrible and they kindly didn’t charge us. Overall, the place is beautiful and refined. Most dishes are excellent. Plus during the day the valet is free! Disappointed that you don’t get reward points on Open Table when you dine here. Open Table needs to rethink that as it’s a nice perk to reserving here. Is that the fault of the restaurant not wanting the Open Table fee? The diner shouldn’t get caught in the middle.
We had an odd experience where we were seated by the door on a cold night. One of the staff repeatedly came through and kept leaving it open, even after we and another table would get up each time to close it. It was very strange, passive-aggressive behavior, as this back and forth must have occurred at least 5 times before he finally ceased.
Great food and great service, food came reasonably fast too
First time here. Nice greeting, followed by friendly, professional service. Simple presentation of flavorful food. Nothing but positives with the experience.
3rd time I have been here and they have run out of food.
Enjoyed our dinner. Beautiful and comfortable location. Service was superb.
I am sad to say that the quality here has slipped over the past year.
Portions have gotten smaller and the prices are now a bit crazy. $31 for a single serving of Lasagna that was burned at the edges?
The Mussels arrived in a lovely sauce but were miniscule. The Branzino was a small fillet that was served in a weird sweetie I sauce that did nothing for the fish.
This was one of my few favorite restaurants in Los Angeles but I just cannot reccomend it any longer.
Love the chicken , it is my favorite , a must go to and eat.
The service was outstanding. Food mediocre with a pretty high price tag.
My favorite Italian in LA! Service, atmosphere is always excellent and food continues to wow. Wine suggestions are superlative.
Great meal in an enchanting space. Will be back for sure.
Everything was great with one exception. The portion very small.
I wouldn't classify Viale dei Romani as one of the very best Italian restaurants in Southern California but it was an enjoyable experience and I would give it another try. Bruschetta with heirloom tomatoes, little gem salad with tahini vinaigrette, and branzino with chanterelles were lovely. But a special pizza diavola was bland beyond belief and a casarecce pasta with rabbit sausage was chewy and served tepid. The service was really amiable though and the modern lobby of the hotel space is a noteworthy attraction.
Every dish we ate was a taste experience. The scallops were an amazing combination of flavours and the appitizers were supurb, get the Iberico ham. "Oh my God, this is good" was repeated over and over again. We would definitely go back to this restaurant.
The service was great! The ambiance was great! The food itself was just honestly, not very good.
Quaint place but the food was not memorable
Great dining experience! The food was delicious and creative. The service was also outstanding. I’ve already recommended it to others! Thanks to Gabe for his friendly hospitality!!
A real find...tucked away I side the Le Peer Hotel between Melrose.and Santa Monica. Just charming and the food is delicious. Not inexpensive...entrees.average around $30...drinks are.very.expensive...$24.for a single.malt....ridiculous.
But a wonderful meal in a beautiful space.
Loved our food( endive salad, chicken for 2, etc) and presentation special. Serving pieces distinctive and aesthetically appealing. Seating comfortable and could actually have a conversation without straining to hear. Service was also outstanding. Will definitely be back soon!
