Viale dei Romani
Inspired first by trips to the Mediterranean coasts, our cuisine highlights the principles of Italian cooking with broader Southern French and North African influences. The rich and far reaching culinary history of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, and the Moorish impact on the southern European Coast likewise influence our offerings with highlights including wood-fired seafood, raw fish preparations, hand rolled pasta, world class pizza, notable items such as the traditional chickpea crêpe ceccina, pasta alla piastra, chicken tagine and various fried rice dishes.
Incredible food and drinks. I received a plate that was dirty and another that was chipped so they need to pay more attention to that. But overall a great time
Great food and worth the money. Service was good and food was amazing!
Lovely space; beautiful china; a well-conceived menu. Prices a bit on the pricey side; but if you order judiciously, it works out fine. We enjoyed a wonderful roasted chicken with bread salad, a banyuls vinaigrette - truly enjoyable.
A lovely night ... beautiful place a great people and service. Food was excellent with a few little spots to mention good and “ok”. The Iberico Ham was delish and the Kale Caesar wonderful ....scallops outstanding! The Bolognese was their “signature” meal ... it was a very unique lasagna like preparation and very delicious. Personally I prefer a more traditional prep, but it was delicious. The Serrano peppers had a tough consistence ... the sunchokes not to my liking - but that’s me. The ice cream dessert was super good, simple but excellent. The Pot of Creme, neither of us liked, it was very dense and just “ok”. I would had preferred a more pudding-like consistency like a high end Budino, maybe butterscotch like as well - the strawberry top didn’t fit to us. With all that said, was a terrific meal with excellent service in a very cool place!
Server warmed up as the night went on. Noise level was a little high and table was awkwardly small for the tasting menu.
First time but I will definitely be back. We celebrated a birthday and shared the chicken, lasagna, bruschetta, salad and more. Everything was delicious. Service was wonderful. The restaurant was busy but they made us feel like we were the only ones there Love the bar area too!
i saw a post about the pasta and im so happy i had a chance to try it
Extraordinarily fresh ingredients masterfully executed.
OMG! Viale dei Romani is fabulous!!! It is now along with Gwen my favorite LA restaurant.
My friend and I (a picky Italian I might add) had a beautiful corner table by the window in the front.
We started with a plate of olives, which were heated and this was new to me, I then had the delicious
smoked mussels, followed by a great Little Gem salad, for my main coursen I had the Flat Iron, slice
in the Italian manner. I can't wait to return. One quibble: The morning of my dinner the restaurant's
Web site had a chicken tajine for two for $53.00. on the dinner menu. This was not on the actual menu
that night. This was one reason I chose Viale. This is bad form! But I would still return here. Our
server Brittany was knowledgeable and very professional!
Service was awesome, unfortunately the portions were small for men. Definitely not a place for children,
We loved our dinner here. The claim of the to “the worlds best bolognese” is a big one but this pasta dish is what dreams are made of. Just delicious!! Anna our waitress provided outstanding service. Highly recommend
Delicious Food and beautiful atmosphere!! This is my 2nd time here and I will be back.
We made reservations for Mother's Day lunch based on a recommendation from a friend at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Los Angeles. We were totally disappointed and we would not return on any occassion. Several items on the menu for the event were unavailable; the wait staff was embarrassingly inexperienced; short order cook prepared food like a diner but with long delays; choice of fish or omelette for main course - and the omelette was truly disgusting with thick slabs of questionably smoked greasy salmon wrapped in under cooked runny eggs topped with a warm spoonful of pecorino. Bowls of vanilla gelato for dessert arrived totally melted - only two had some kind of chocolate fudge on the side because they ran out.
I Chose this restaraunt for a special occasion . A beautiful spot in a beautiful hotel . The food was a mixed bag . Crudo was great . Pasta sauce was flavorful but greasy . Service was on point until the meal was delivered after that we had to ask for everything ... Its like the wait staff collectively went on break . This would have been around 10 pm . Dessert took over 30 minutes and the coffee was luke warm . We had to ask about the dessert to finally get it . Its a shame . The restaurant is beautiful but for this price we expect more .
The ambiance was nice, service was very attentive and explained the menu style and navigation very well. Sadly Food was below expectation as we were excited to try Chef Lane's food. BABY KALE CAESAR SALAD was blend and lacked flavor, WOOD GRILLED OCTOPUS was beautifully presented but was tough, FLAT IRON STEAK was good. However, the temp was almost blue an rare and cool in the middle but our request was Med rare. Overall was nice. Cocktails were balance and well presented. I am sure it was a off night in kitchen. We will be back to try again.
Pleasant atmosphere paired with great food... Our waiter Jeremy was fantastic, he was very knowledgeable about all the foods and wines, he even told us about a great place to go after dinner to enjoy. BTW please try the pizzas they are amazing!!! and also try the sundae it's to die for. Great local addition to Weho, they will be around for many years to come, def. will be returning back often!!!
The room is very loud so maybe when the weather is better try sitting outside if you want to have a conversation. The food was delicious! You'll want a side of bread to go with the Amatriciana!
Get the bolognese!
Very average not Italian food. Small portions for the price. Maybe we just ordered all the wrong things?
Too many other great places to go.
Service was terrible.
Great food great service
Loved it each time we have eaten at Viale Dei Romano.
I went to dinner with my fiancé on my birthday and was greeted very warmly upon arrival by the maître d'. He recommended their famous lasagna and it was very delicious. We were treated exceptionally well. Food and service were phenomenal and I highly recommend this lovely place to anyone! We will be back.
Awesome & Unique Menu.
Fantastic Team - especially Key, the Manager!
Would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for good Italian food.
Pasta was over cooked, flavorless and expensive for what you get.
One word: meh.
Food, service, atmosphere A+!!!!! Been several times and will go again!
We got there early place was empty. The service was excellent from the time we got there to the time we left. We had the chicken which was whole and plenty for two people. It was really good especially the breast which was in some insane reduction sauce. The hotel and restaurant are both super cool and have great ambiance. Highly recommend this place.
Excellent southern Italian food. Definitely meant to be shared as almost every dish would be too intense for one person. Seafood and pastas were some of the best and the pizza is spectacular to order for the table. Bar program is changing, but has solid cocktails, very knowledgeable, and looking to grow.
Felt a bit warm, and way too much sunlight pouring into the room before the sun gets behind the next building.
It is very chic and elegantly y understated. The service is on point and the food is over the moon delicious!!
Great food and great service
Love Viale! The ambiance is fantastic, and the food is delicious. We loved the margarita pizza, the spicy sausage pizza, harami crudo, kale Cesar, and chicken for two. The desserts were all delicious too!
My second visit.
Great date place or special night out. Both times the food was on point and the menu has expanded to higher protein options. What’s the same is the inconstancy with the bar and a New York attitude from the servers.
Biggest change was the wait, reservations weren’t necessarily needed this time around....for Friday night.
The best restaurant. Wonderful wines, great food. Great service.
Great dining experience with impeccable service. Very helpful in describing the dishes and helping find what would best suit our pallets. The food was amazing, with a great balance of acidity and umami. Pasta was perfectly al dente and the portion sizes were more than sufficient. Relaxing atmosphere.
A special place. Definitely an LA experience (but in a good way).
Excellent service, reasonable prices and outstanding food made for a delightful evening
Portions were small and salty. Didn’t live up to hype.
Food was terrific. I gave this a 4 instead of 5 ONLY because the teramisu was very disappointing. The center was not soaked but very chewy which it should not have been and not much flavor. We order this at nearly every Italian restaurant so I think they forgot to soak the ladyfingers. Other than that everything was great especially the pasta bolognese ( which is a vertical lasagne) and fabulous.
Service lackluster, frequently could not get server’s attention, even in a largely empty dining room.
Poor wine knowledge by server; granted, sommelier was not in that day due to family emergency, but expect regular servers to have sufficient familiarity with list to cover
Several dishes, such as roasted sunchokes, just blah
The wood fired roast chicken for two was beyond over salted
Overpriced and overhyped for what we experienced.
