Viale dei Romani
Inspired first by trips to the Mediterranean coasts, our cuisine highlights the principles of Italian cooking with broader Southern French and North African influences. The rich and far reaching culinary history of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, and the Moorish impact on the southern European Coast likewise influence our offerings with highlights including wood-fired seafood, raw fish preparations, hand rolled pasta, world class pizza, notable items such as the traditional chickpea crêpe ceccina, pasta alla piastra, chicken tagine and various fried rice dishes.
Love Viale! The ambiance is fantastic, and the food is delicious. We loved the margarita pizza, the spicy sausage pizza, harami crudo, kale Cesar, and chicken for two. The desserts were all delicious too!
The best restaurant. Wonderful wines, great food. Great service.
Great dining experience with impeccable service. Very helpful in describing the dishes and helping find what would best suit our pallets. The food was amazing, with a great balance of acidity and umami. Pasta was perfectly al dente and the portion sizes were more than sufficient. Relaxing atmosphere.
A special place. Definitely an LA experience (but in a good way).
Excellent service, reasonable prices and outstanding food made for a delightful evening
Portions were small and salty. Didn’t live up to hype.
Food was terrific. I gave this a 4 instead of 5 ONLY because the teramisu was very disappointing. The center was not soaked but very chewy which it should not have been and not much flavor. We order this at nearly every Italian restaurant so I think they forgot to soak the ladyfingers. Other than that everything was great especially the pasta bolognese ( which is a vertical lasagne) and fabulous.
Service lackluster, frequently could not get server’s attention, even in a largely empty dining room.
Poor wine knowledge by server; granted, sommelier was not in that day due to family emergency, but expect regular servers to have sufficient familiarity with list to cover
Several dishes, such as roasted sunchokes, just blah
The wood fired roast chicken for two was beyond over salted
Overpriced and overhyped for what we experienced.
There were 7 of us and they gave us a nice semi private booth away from the noise.
Jayden was our server. Excellent and on top of everything.
2 of us ordered their bolognese which turned up more like crepe lasagna. It was crazy good and the most flavorful we’ve ever experienced. They we’re homemade paper thin noodles layered in between high quality beef sauce. The best. Also ordered their tomahawk for two. Delish. But avoid the flatiron steak. Tough and not seasoned so flat in the taste and poor in the meat quality. Desserts were phenom
Recommend this restaurant. 4 star only bec of flatiron steak.
You would be put to the test finding a better neighborhood restaurant. Creative dishes, relaxed style, excellent service. It's perfect for a night out, celebration, or business meal.
I really loved my first experience at the restaurant last year, and enjoyed my experience this time, but having to wait 15 min past reservations time, then a few dishes we weren't super keen on just diminished the experience a little bit. I would still absolutely go back, especially for the pastas - their signature piastra
The food was fantastic, especially the grilled octopus and the jamon iberico. Nonetheless, the service was unexpectedly slow and chaotic. We had to remind our waiter of our ice tea order four separate times and finally quenched our thirst 20 minutes after we ordered it.
Service was a little spotty, but the food was outstanding. The pizza is now in my top three for LA. Pricey.
We enjoyed our meal at VdR. It was our first time there, and were probably not prepared for the noise level (but it was a Saturday night, which kept getting busier and busier over the two hours we were there). The menu was really hard to choose from, and we tried the Branzino and Flat Iron Steak. And both were extremely yummy.
Outstanding lunch by every metric! Definitely recommend Viale dei Romani!
I have been here quite a few times and it is beautiful inside. I particularity love the plates they use. Lol - it’s the little things and this restaurant pays attention. The food is great except for a 4 cheese pizza I did not like. I have had almost all of the rest of the menu and you can’t go wrong.
Only thing to consider is coming here at an off peak time, you may end up the only people in the restaurant because it’s in a hotel.
Great food and service
Our waiter had some serious issues which affected our enjoyment of the meal
Beautiful space but the owners need to double check on portion size and lack of value. I understand that the best ingredients come at a price but being gouged is a different story.
A chic, sophisticated spot in WeHo for excellent Italian food. Not the usual menu; there are clever and well-thought-out regional dishes and riffs on classics. Nice cocktails, very good wine list. Highly recommended.
The ambience is great. They created a beautiful space with a great vibe. However, the main courses were not great enough. One should have been tastier, and the portion of the other was only enough to be an appetizer. And, the benches are so low that my chin was practically on the table.
Great place. Food service ambience all around fantastic!
Enjoyed dinner after attending the Frieze Week event at Kimpton. Food was superb and service was top notch. Our server (a redhead female) was slammed with lots of tables and still was able to provide exceptional service. The receptionist, bus staff and manager also performed at highest levels of service and professionalism. The cuisine was rockin’ which is reflected in the high prices and somewhat to be expected for a restaurant of this caliber, so it’s not really a place for value minded diners. The only real concern is regarding ambience, specifically the high level of noise. Perhaps add plants or some other way to baffle some of the distracting ambient sound. Still, besides that, I would definitely recommend and return for more. Thanks!
Excellent in all accounts
the bolognese was divine. great wine list. beautiful space
$500+ for dinner for four so it depends on your wallet
Fantastic experience. Excellent food in a great atmosphere. Service was terrific. Can’t wait to return!!
Service, food, ambiance were all excellent! Pastas #todiefor. Rabbit pizza was also very food.
Experience was great
Food and service was mediocre. I wouldn’t go back again.
Great food, excellent waiter and nice ambience. I have been before and I would cretainly return.
Adorable Italian restaurant tucked into the new La Peer Hotel. They make a wonderful branzino and the three course lunch “special menu” was reasonable and delicious. Lots of a la carte options. Very personal and nice service.
Was amazing ! Food is excellent!
We went there to celebrate our 33rd anniversary with our 3 adult children. We let them know about our special occasion before hand. They did not do ANYTHING to make our night special. The deserts were brought out with no note on the cake or the plate which is done in any regular restaurant and none of the desert was compt. This really made me upset.
Was one of our favorites from opening until Wednesday night. Something has changed and not for the better. Food was fine though not delicious- sometimes a more straightforward preparation would be appreciated. Our server was fine but a little intrusive. She interrupted frequently and needs to learn how to read the table better. Interruptions asking about the food may server her purposes but not the guests - if there is something wrong with the food, she'll know soon enough. Did not detect any management presence of oversight.
The energy present in frequent previous visits was missing. Music playlist needs work and the fake plants above the bar and on shelves were off-putting. If real plants can't be maintained then come up with a different design element. The overall design and detail of the space is excellent but diminished by the fake greenery.
A few weeks back, my wife brought friends for Sunday breakfast and it was a complete disaster. Understaffed, again no management present and the staff that was there was poorly trained and stressed to the max.
I was thinking about having a fairly large party outside this summer but have to reconsider.
Love this restaurant. I have had two lunches and two dinners over the past 3 weeks and I'm ready to book again. It is now my go-to place. Great cocktails, wine list, food, service and ambience. Tables are not too close together. Seriously ticks all the boxes for me.
It's a beautiful restaurant for starters. Our waitress was spectacular and the food was incredible. We had the branzini and it was perfection. The waitress told us about the lasagna which apparently they don't keep on the menu because they run out of it so quickly. It was paper thin multi layers of homemade lasagna with their Bolognese in between the layers. It was incredible. We had a glass of their only Chardonnay which we loved. And the waitress recommended rice pudding. She said it was very popular. I wondered to myself how the heck good can rice pudding be. But after the first bite I discovered how good rice pudding could be. I don't know what the heck they put in that stuff but both my friend and I couldn't believe how delicious it was. Now we're going to make our rounds to the other two restaurants owned by the same Chef. I can't wait to see what those are all about.
Waited a bit longer for orders, everything else was fantastic.
Really beautiful boutique hotel and nice service. Great value for the amount of food but the food is a little too salty.
Been wanting to try this place and took advantage of DineLA. Great good. The calamari was perfect, and the pinna cotta was perfect.
