Our food was excellent as always. Our server, Anthony, is always fantastic and attentive.
For some reason, we had forgotten about this wonderful restaurant; so, I made a reservation for two couples for a late Sunday afternoon dinner. And it did not disappoint. Two of us had the octopus appetizer which was amazing. Both of us can't wait to go back and have it again. The other couple both loved their calamari and cauliflower appetizers. Two of us enjoyed the best ever linguini with clam sauce (made like no other), and the other couple thoroughly enjoyed their main courses of the pasta/pesto special and the fish made in parchment. They were impressed with the amazing flavors and fresh ingredients in all the dishes. We will all be back soon. And thank you to our server, Anthony, who did a great job of explaining and serving our meals.
Excellent food in a very nice/current style setting. My only real objection is that I find it annoying (and somewhat condescending) when the server asks "have you dined with us b4"? Why, is the process of dining there that much different from any other restaurant...we've done this b4. It was also a bit difficult to understand our server in that he was speaking very quickly and was a bit unclear on a couple of occasions (we asked him to repeat). But the food was amazing (again) and this is definitely a "can't miss" restaurant. To be fair, the server was very pleasant, but...
From start to finish, an incredible culinary experience. The food is exquisite and the staff makes sure your experience is one that you will not forget. You have to get the Calamari appetizer, it will make you not ever want calamari with red sauce again. They serve it with a lemon butter sauce and Calabrian Chili’s that make it one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. The pastas are all fresh and are so creative that they are a must before your main meal. We got the scallops and once again unlike any scallop meal I have had before, simply outstanding! I have done other menu items that I absolutely loved but the menu changes giving you an opportunity to try new items. Bravo by all at Viaggio, you make a meal a culinary experience that won’t be forgotten.
We always have a great meal at Viaggio! It’s the only place we go knowing that we will order dessert! We’ll, one each so really two desserts ;) Can never go wrong with the specials!
Always fantastic. Never disappoints! All the ingredients are fresh. We love the house made pastas and salumi.
Delicious food and great service. Waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the menu
We were celebrating a birthday. Our server told us the chef doesn’t like to put an order for special bread or the chefs selection meats until AFTER we order our dinner. REALLY - if a patron wants to order something I really don’t think that’s the chefs decision. We all just came from work and were HANGRY. It was 90 degrees and for those of us who were drinking water - why no ice ???
ALSO as for the service- the young blonde girl who served the bread - was excellent. The type of wait staff you would expect here. The waiter - not so much. Too much mingling by the hostess station too. Very distracting.
As for the meal - every bite of food was superb ! Could have been a better night if wait staff was as good as our bread girl.
Amazing food and good time
This is my second dining experience with Viaggio. Can not say enough. The food is brilliant. The main menu is quite small, however, the specials are certainly special. Give Viaggio's a try. It's a neighbor BYOB find for sure.
We are repeat customers and always enjoyed the service and different food choices available. The last two experiences were less than note worthy. Given the rather high price point there are other options and we will be investigating those
Bad start. 4 ppl, 1 of whom is 85 yo, and they ask u to sit at a round high top/bar table with tall bar stools. The only other option is a table for 6 right next to the host station. Uh, no. There are 2 other 4 top tables ready for diners but we’re told they’re “reserved”. I remind them that we also have a reservation, made weeks ago, for which we had to give them a credit card number. But no, we cannot have either of those 4 top tables. We waited for 10 minutes so not a long wait but RUDE.
Waiter rattled off the menu, seemed confused by our orders which were actually easy since 2 were identical. They served ONE pc of bread ea, no butter, no oil, nothing. We had to ask.
My son ordered a coke, they brought him a 2nd water. wth?
Apps were delish! Try the burrata.
Piedmontese steak was tough. SHAME at that price.
Fazzololetti in Meyer lemon sauce was good; linguine had too much bacon. Bacon?
Mascarpone cheesecake was good.
Seats are HARD metal not conducive to comfort or lingering.
Place was packed but lots of staff milling about.
My rating? OVER-RATED. $220 w/tip for 2 apps, 4 entrees, 1 dessert? Thank God it’s BYOB.
Cauliflower appetizer was excellent. The steak salad was ordered medium rare and was a little over cooked but it was still tasty. The dressing was excellent. Two members of our party had the branzino and said it was excellent.
Really thrilled we stopped here. Picked the restaurant based on the fabulous Yelp reviews and the fact that it was sort of halfway between where we were coming from and where we were heading to. The wait staff was lovely and just attentive enough and the food was really, really great. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and plated. We over-ordered (as we usually do) and would say that in the future we'd skip the fried cauliflower but everything else was delicious. My fiance had the prix fixe menu and I went wild with vegetarian options a la carte. He really enjoyed the calamari, bucatini, and seabass. The tri-color salad was filling and tasty and my ramp pasta was perfect. Don't munch on the bread they give you, spring for the homemade focaccia instead. I described it as a "focaccia brownie" and I'm still thinking about it. BYOB definitely helps keep the cost down!
As Usual the food and service were wonderful I waiter Jonathan was on Spot and attentive at all times
The lamb Ragu was great as was the chicken and Tagliarelke
We took our family to Viaggio to celebrate two of our grandchildren’s graduation...from the moment we arrived and were warmly greeted by the hostess and throughout our dinner Chef Felice’s pride in his restaurant was evident. Our waiter Jonathan O was not only pleasant but also very knowledgeable of the menu. For appetizers we tried the Fried Calamari, the Grilled Octopus, the Salumi and of course the Focaccia...all outstanding. Main course: the Tagliata, the Scallops and several if the pasta offerings. Everything was delicious...forks were traveling across the table looking for a taste of every dish. A visit to Viaggio is highly reccommended
Not often am I wowed by food but tonight I had a dish that I would say is one of the five best dishes I’ve ever had.
The polenta with fontina & reggiano (plus I’d guess a ton of butter & cream) was out of control. I would go back and eat that for an appetizer, entree & dessert.
If you go don’t miss the papparadelle with crumbled sweet sausage & meatballs...if we weren’t in a public place I would have licked the plate clean. Thankfully I got to finish Jessica Tahaney Mayer’s portion.
The chef’s attention to every detail on the plate & exquisite flavor profiles is something I’ve rarely encountered anywhere.
Oh, the peanut butter semifreddo with salted pretzel crust, toasted marshmallow “don’t even know how describe it accurately thing” & candied peanuts wasn’t a bad finish to the meal either.
Compliments to Chef Robbie Felice’s vision & Viaggio’s staff’s execution.
Thank you for an amazing meal.
The food and service were extraordinary!
As usual we had another exceptional dinner at Viaggio. The service and food quality was superb. Viaggio is my favorite restaurant. Jonathan our server always takes the time to thoroughly explain the specials. He is very personable and knowledgeable. I would without doubt recommend Viaggio to family and friends.
Viaggio has never failed to impress us. It took us back to our Italian vacation last year and brought back all of authentic Italian flavors with a novel twist. Highly recommend calamari fritti, grilled octopus and the yellowtail crudo for appetizers. My husband and I split the bucatini. I had the sea scallops for entree and he had the Lancaster chicken. Everything was flavorful and delightfully plated. A true gem in Wayne!
Food and service was very good... would definitely go back again. No specials were available on Tuesday, which wasn’t an issue, since it was our first time.
It definitely was worth the trip. Went there for my birthday. From beginning to end it was GREAT.
It is a must try restaurant.
The food is good, the service is good but boy it is really loud!!
Have been here many times. Food was excellent. Got seated thirty minutes after our reservation time which is unacceptable. Noise level was a problem until people left. Manager was of no help dealing with our lengthy wait.
Great. Food was amazing, but was loud.
Excellent flavor in each dish. A little high priced but worth it for a change.
Delicious food and our server Anthony was super awesome!!!
Good , but not great !! Would return but no hurry, byob keeps tab in lineo
Great atmosphere for a nice dining experience. Food was delicious! A must try for a local spot! Def worth the visit
Exceeded my expectations! Cauliflower appetizer was excellent- highly recommend. Pasta is homemade and sweet sausage was superb.
Leave your preconceived notions of strip mall restaurants at the door. This place is excellent. Great food, fantastic service, and excellent ambiance. Maybe one of Northern New Jersey’s least celebrated gems.
My only complaint was the noise level. Everything els was absolutely wonderful
Amazing food- everything was outstanding. Don’t be deterred by the strip mall location ... we are total food snobs and were blown away :)
A hidden treasure located in a strip mall. The service ( Jackie) and the food is over the top.
We will be back.
Good ambiance and service, the food is extremely mediocre, over salted and greasy
Wonderful evening. Great food and service. Noise level a bit loud. Always wondered if putting table cloths on the tables would ever absorb sound to make it less noisy. All in all, it’s a very special and unique place and I look forward to going back.
This was my 2nd time at Viaggio and the food is always amazing. So impressed by the farm to table. Our waiter Anthony was hilarious and had us laughing all night. He was very attentive to our needs as well. I would highly recommend dining here and ask for Anthony’s table!
Fazzolletti is the best dish on your menu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went there first time on a Tuesday night. Waiter was very good, but young lady who served bread was indifferent to say the least. The appetizers, fried calamari and cold ham were very good, but the portions were very small. The NJ black bass was excellent, but my pasta dish while very tasty was too salty. I heard the sous chef was there, the regular chef was at his new restaurant. The desert was very expensive, $ 13.00 but it was good- never mind paying for something that is good. Somewhat disappointed given its on line reputation.
