Via Vite Ratings and Reviews
Via Vite and its "father ship" Nicholas are our favorite places. Sunday at Via Vite is such a treat - 1/2 price bottles of wine, delicious specials and not so crowded. Sitting looking into the kitchen is great fun and the staff don't mind answering questions while they work. Speaking of the staff - they are top-notch! Friendly and knowledgeable but not oppressive - just the right amount of presence!
Fifteen dollar Sunday brunch: A nicely prepared fruit cup with a ham-and-egg smothered bagel. Nicely presented, good service. Then they seated a party of six next to us in a virtually empty restaurant. I understand wait-stations, but c'mon. For $15, it wasn't a lot to eat, but hey, it's about the atmosphere on Fountain Square, right?
I chose to share Via Vite with my mom before the Ballet because of it's wonderful food. She is a vegetarian who does eat fish and the choices are great. Not only did we have a fantastic meal on a Saturday night, but we had terrific service and got out in time to walk to the theater and get comfortably into our seats in time for the curtain without being rushed. Our server was very knowledgeable and described many dishes to help my mom pick her meal. She had the Salmon which had more flavor than I had ever tasted in that particular fish. I had the gnocchi which is in a wonderful thick tomato sauce.
I have to say this was some of the best Italian we have had outside of Italy. The pizza was amazing...crispy bottom, chewy top with great yeasty/salty taste, the toppings were very well done...very authentic. The pasta dish we had was also amazing. The service was outstanding. Perhaps all this was helped by being one of very few early on a weekend lunch hour, but our experience will keep us coming back for sure.
I've been here before for dinner and was never disappointed. Food and service is always wonderful. Just found out they have brunch and was even more pleasantly surprised. The ambience was peaceful and entrees were great. I had the Tuscan soup and quiche. Both were delicious. The only flaw I can say was I felt guilty with the experience being too "rich.". Now the price wasn't bad at $15 per person. It's a pretty good deal for this "rich" brunch!
The food and service were great! There were just too many table for the available floor space. I stopped counting after my chair was hit, bumped or jarred 12 times. 90% of the contact was from the wait staff. I looked around to see others having the same problem so it wasn't just my table. (and we were all average of average size) It is just poor design and overcrowding.
We were there with a party of 8, celebrating an early birthday dinner before heading to the Wine Festival. As expected, the lamb shank and gout cheese salad were outstanding. The stuffed tomato appetizer was disappointing as were all the pastas -- too heavy, drowning in sauce. Our service was excellent -- until our server was seated with another large party. We had to request our check and barely made it to the wine festival on time.
While it was the first evening for some in our party, others of us had been before and will come back again. But we will be more choosey about our pasta choice.
The great experience began by the greating at the front and continued through the rest of the evening. Our server was well informed and of great assistance in the ordering process. I love the place, only wish they had played Italian music instead of what was playing.
Surprised that it was so crowded early on a Sunday evening. Liked the half price bottle of wine special because it made the somewhat pricey wine list more affordable. My special Cornish Hen feature was amazing but my husband's pasta dish was just so so. Since we were sitting next to where the food was brought out, which did not add to our dining experience, we could see other dishes easily. They appeared ordinary and over priced.
Great view of Fountain Square. Service a bit slow considering our reservation was at 9:30pm. Food was great. Recommend bacon wrapped pork and seared beef. Pizzas are ok. Creme Brulee was so-so. Music a little too loud, barely could hear my two friends at our small 4 top table. Tables are pretty crammed together, unless you are lucky to get a moon shaped booth. Over-all good. Great wine selection.
There were 8 of us on Saturday night and another couple showed up and they were able to join us for dinner. We had Aronoff tickets and our waitress was very attentive and made sure we got out in time. She also had our leftovers boxed and held for us so after the show we came back for drinks and picked up our food. Service was excellent late night also. Started out with our same waitress from dinner, but ended up with someone else. Not a problem, both were excellent.
We were not impressed at all. The selections were limited, and not up to previous visits for our group. To make matters worse, the wine I ordered tasted like it had been sitting out for days and there was grit on the greens in my salad! I can think of several restaurants the do Italian better than this and some of them aren't necessarily even classified as Italian Restaurants.
