Via Vite Ratings and Reviews
Nice-looking place convenient to Fountain Square and it's garage. Pleasant greeting, quick seating. Our waiter, Brice, is a gem who really seems to enjoy his job. His attention (although not intrusive) was the very best thing about our experience!
We had the antipasta and the pizza of the day. Just enough for two. A little pricy, especially the bar, but you have to expect some of that in a dpwntown restaurant.
Although we enjoyed ourselves, it will have to be a very special occasion to go back.
Although the food was very good, the portions were small and the prices were too high for what you received ie the Bruschetta was one piece of bread cut into five portions with a nice topping but for $10...really? Wine was two fingers and no more. Although it is on Fountain Square, it really does not have the ambiance to warrant high prices. The wait staff was very nice but not very attentive especially since the place was half full. The Manager came to check on us more times than the waitress. Overall I am not sure I would race back since more restaurants are opening up in OTR and in the suburbs that seem to be better. Sorry for the honesty.
Excellent service, food and view ... what more can a restaurant provide. Well, maybe a little friendlier pricing, but when you're nailing the big 3, a little pricey is probably to be expected. We requested a window table when we reserved, but when we were seated (on a single-digit winter night) it was very uncomfortable. One of the servers -- not ours, the first we found -- very graciously organized a move upstairs to a comfortable window table right under a heat vent. Our upstairs server, Arianna I think, was superb. Very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. She's a keeper, whom I will ask for on our next visit. Lamb shank, pizza, and pasta Bolognese were all 9's and 10's. As was the off-menu request for a pasta primavera that was very graciously handled by Arianna and the kitchen. Via Vite continues to be one of our downtown Cincy go-to's.
The restaurant was absolutely freezing and the staff seemed oblivious to it. People were wearing coats to eat, which did not make for a pleasant meal. The "special" anchovy pizza was extremely salty and not much else on it except anchovies. Special Bechamel lasagna was regular lasagna with a dollop of béchamel sauce on one end of it, not a white lasagna.
Chocolate tart was mediocre. Pumpkin/creme boule was delicious.
Tuna salad was great, wine list is awesome, pizza was super tasty. Been here many times and keep going back. Had kind of a goofy server who was trying to be funny and act like she was the show........I came for the food, if I want entertainment, I will head to the Aronoff!
We attended Via Vite for a New Years Eve dinner. The menu was prix fixe and the choices appeared to be amazingly decadent. However, the restaurant was so cold in temperature that many patrons had to keep their coats on. It was quite uncomfortable.
Also the wine pairings were served much ahead of the course that they were suggested for so the three ounce portions were already gone prior to the lukewarm course arriving. The restaurant was booked solid so some waiting was to be expected but the courses arrived lukewarm and it was disappointing for a $100 per person meal on a holiday evening. The waiter acted perturbed when our table
asked for a bit more wine to taste with the food it was paired with.We have always enjoyed this restaurant on our multiple(7) previous visits but this time left a lot to be desired and we were frozen by nights end.
Our food was well prepared and very tasty; everyone enjoyed their meal. Our server Corey was very attentive and did a great job. He also suggested items he thought we might like, for example the Brussel Sprouts, and those were good too. The only issue we had was the restaurant was a little chilly that evening, but we came prepared so it was fine.
First time there. So dissapointed. The restaurant was freezing cold. So cold patrons were eating with their coats on. Very very limited menu options. Atmosphere very casual and doesn’t reflect prices that are charged. 3.50 for a golf ball size meatball add on. Ridiculous !! Won’t be back
Unfortunately, the experience was below my standard. While we waited at the bar enjoying our drinks, it was freezing. Every time the entry door opened, a rush of outside cold air made us drink with our gloves on. Get an entrance canopy! When we were seated, we were next to the exterior storefront. It was unbelievable that we ate with cold air at our feet and at table height. Our warm food was cold in no time. We dined with our coats on. To add to the frustration, service was slow. It took 40 cold, miserable minutes to get our dinner.
For a fine dining restaurant, the atmosphere was too cold to go back. This is unfortunate because the food was quite delicious.
Food is very good and the owner is exceptionally gracious. The two story dining room faces Cincinnati's main downtown square. The second level features outdoor dining. Via Vite has long hours (11 a.m. - 10 p.m. weekdays, later on weekends), which is convenient. Many Cincinnati restaurants close on weekdays at 9 p.m. This restaurant has two private dining rooms for special events and for business dinners that may require confidentiality.
Great meal my family had before catching a holiday play. Always a great meal and my kids enjoy eating here. Our service was outstanding. Our server made fantastic recommendations and adjusted the menu to fit our interests. We were both divided on what to pick, so she created us a sampler of both the pastas for each of us. My wife was really happy with hers and I liked mine a great deal as well. She had the gnocchi and it was outstanding. Always a fan favorite at our house
I’ve been to Via Vite several times. This trip, a birthday celebration for my husband, I discovered they’d changed the menu up and removed some items (my mushroom pizza was gone! 😫) but had added a few new things too. I had the Gorgonzola mushroom pizza for my meal, the mushroom soup (tasty!), and bread for dipping. It was good, but I may try something else next time around; the garlic was a little too potent for me, but if you’re into a strong garlic flavor, then this one would be for you. The meatballs were a shared appetizer—tasty and loved by all. I’m not sure anyone could have complained about anything they had.
The service was outstanding. They brought complimentary proseccos around (ginger ale for my boys) so we could toast to my husband. I thought that was a very classy touch. Our server even chased us down at the door to hand us a free dessert that we weren’t able to eat inside since we were in a hurry to get outside.
It being the holidays the location gives you lots to look at, and we really enjoyed the primo spot to watch Santa repel from the Huntington building followed by fireworks. It was a great evening. Highly recommend.
