Highly recommend the bolognese with homemade pasta! We will definitely return to get that dish again.
I have always loved Via Vite. I had clients in from Denver and wanted to treat them to a great Cincinnati experience with a view. The FS Fountain is gorgeous- despite the construction, so I chose Via Vite.
What a debacle. It was one of my client's birthdays and given that I love and grew up in bourbon country, they always let me steer the ship on what we're drinking. Old Fashion's are an easy and all time favorite. However, when ordering them, it seemed to be such an issue. Never before have we been served Old Fashion's the way the bartender was making them. It was bizarre. We were all caught off guard and tried to explain what we wanted but it didn't seem to register or make sense to the server or the bartender. After a while, it just became stressful and was eating in to our enjoyment of the evening, so we settled on what was brought to the table and then just switched to wine.
My other client does not eat red meat. He ordered the Bolognese with Taglia pasta, as suggested by the server with no meatball. She brought it anyway, acknowledging when she sat it down that he had said he didn't want it, but decided since the kitchen added it anyway, she would keep it on there and not charge for it....What???? At this point, we were still so exhausted by the drink conversation, we just didn't say anything and he just ate around it.
I called earlier in the day to let them know it was a birthday dinner and it was disappointing that nothing was mentioned by the server about it and that a dessert or anything was offered to celebrate. Yes, this is an assumption on my part. Though, one that is made based upon experiences at other nearby, nice restaurants.
Fabulous food and great presentation from start to finish. Love the setting with all the natural light, also tables are nicely spaced so you don't feel a bit crowded in your space
My husband & I celebrated our birthdays here with my son. This was our 3rd time at Via Vite and everything we had was absolutely delicious!! Always worth the hour drive!
Y’all are just the best! Fantastic as always!
I've always enjoyed the restaurant but had probably the best meal I've had there, or anywhere, recently. Split an 8 ounce filet and seafood risotto with my companion, and both were outstanding. Also had a cup of their pepper soup, which is always excellent. I will be back!
Some of the reasons we like Via Vita is the consistently good service, nice ambiance, and delicious food. Who could ask more from a restaurant! They delivered again on Sunday. We’ll be back soon.
This is a beautiful restaurant on the ground floor but We were brought upstairs to a tiny room that had a metal door that had to be opened and closed every time someone came in. It made the whole dining experience different in a negative way.
I had just been at Via Vite for New Year’s Eve dinner and had a great time. Our overall experience here was terrific. Started out a Happy hour at the bar while I waited for my friends to arrive for dinner reservations. Bartenders friendly and friendly folks at the bar. Seated right on time work the a great table and our server was terrific. She took very good care of our table. Food was delicious and came in reasonable time. I enjoy Via Vite more every time I come here!
Jack was an excellent server- 5 stars- I had made a reservation weeks in advance- it seems a better table w/view- less congested and noisy area for 2 could have been accommodated for celebration my friends 90th birthday- overall a 5 star experience!
Outstanding food!!! Highly recommend the four cheese gnocchi!!
The food was fantastic. Our table had Mussel appetizers, Steak, Penne Bolognese, Lamb Ragu and Lamb Shank. Everything was perfect. It's why we keep going back there.
This 50th Birthday celebration for my husband was lack luster. Despite making the reservation 1 month in advance for a 6 pm dinner we were marched upstairs to sit at a wobbly table in a corner without a view or any significant decor. Not much entree selection for a vegetarian (pizza or gnocchi), the Bolenesse sauce is heavy/creamy and drowns the pasta, and I did not like the tiramisu in a upright glass which made it difficult to appreciate all the layers. Overall—Not a great experience for the price. Kids liked their pizza and the water glasses stayed full. The service was attentive.
Great as usual. My wife and I split the special (braised lamb pasta), and another pasta dish. Both were outstanding.
Loved our server Tera. She had great recommendations and helped us pick out some great food!
Via Vite is always, predictably good! We look as forward to the dining at Via, much as the theatre afterward!
My family and I went to Via Vita to celebrate my daughters birthday. We had reservations and were promptly seated. We ordered the bread basket which was yummy and a side of Brussels sprouts, which were good, but a little too spicy for me....everyone else devoured them! I knew exactly what I wanted to order as I love their Penne Bolognese. My husband ordered the lamb shank, which I have never cared for having tried lamb at a family function, but after a taste I fell in love with it! My daughter loved the orecchiette rapini pesto and sausage and my son enjoyed the calabrese pizza. The ambiance is fun and the owner walked around making sure everyone was having a great meal. They also brought out a complimentary espresso risotto to celebrate my daughters birthday, it was delicious. Via Vite is my favorite restaurant!
Staff was great and the service excellent! Food was very good.
A wonderful prelude to a night at the theater. As always, the food was awesome and the service top notch.
The food was delicious and timely. We really enjoyed the waiter who made fantastic recommendations that we acted on throughout the meal. We were celebrating our anniversary and the did a great job making it a special evening.
Great food and fantastic service. It's also in a terrific location on Fountain Square in Cincinnati.
Great meal, we will be back! I got the fig and goat bruschetta and the salmon. I wouldn’t change a thing!
Excellent service and great food. Very convenient for good fish, salads and gnocchis before evening theater in Cincinnati.
Enjoyable experience. Good date night dinner with my wife. All staff were excellent. Appetizers and sea bass entree were excellent. The tiramisu was not good, even after 2 tries. Poor presentation in a glass. Poor execution. We will come back.
I didn’t like the fact that I made a reservation and then STILL had to wait 30 minutes to be seated after my arrival. The food was good but it could have been warmer from kitchen to table. My date said the food was good but it was cold. Our server was very good and attentive to our needs. Overall it was a good experience.
Always excellent and the Lamb Shank is amazing! I am a regular customer for both business and personal is this a such a great place. Note that I have been to Italy many times and lived in Boston before Cincinnati - so I know Italian food.
A review written with a heavy heart. Via Vite has been one of my go-to romantic places. I left a glowing review just a few weeks ago. However, this review is specific to VDay.
This was my second Vday dinner here. The first was 5 years ago - unfortunately, long enough to forget.
We arrived 30 minutes early and had drinks at the bar. We could see the charming first floor dining area and we were looking forward to being seated - until we were taken upstairs. Memories of the previous Vday dinner came flooding back.
The upstairs area lacks all of the charm of the lower area - especially when many more small tables have been crammed tightly together. Welcome to Via Vite’s little Siberia.
Imagine sitting at a tiny, super-wobbly, 2-top with a table cloth so large you keep tangling your feet in it and spilling your drinks. The flood lights are super bright. You can read the menus at the table beside you. Your little chair is miserably uncomfortable. No view outside at all. Sound romantic? Sound remotely pleasant? Get comfy. You’ll be here a while.
The menu is prix fixe - 3 courses with 2 options each course. We ordered both options of all 3 courses.
I’m going to hammer home the biggest problem. We sat down at 8:30. We finished our last course at 10:30. We ordered early. The wait time between each course was over 30 minutes. When those long awaited courses arrived, they were lukewarm. The purpose of a prix fixe menu is to drive efficiency in the kitchen. Yet, we got three tiny courses spread out over almost two hours and delivered almost cold.
Portions were very tiny - not equal to a small meal. With two exceptions, the food was not memorable. The gnocchi was intolerably over-saturated with garlic. I love garlic and could not eat it. The osso buco forced me to ask for salt to render edible, which I never do. 2 cold bites was all I could handle.
We made dinner at home afterward. Via Vite is permanently off of my list. I gave it too many second chances.
We went for Valentine’s Day and didn’t realize until it was too late to cancel, but they had a special menu. The only options for entrées were either lamb or salmon. They would have charged are credit card if we had canceled. They tried to tell us that they inform us when they called to confirm our reservation but they didn’t. And it did say it on the confirmation email but it was way down below in the small print that nobody reads. So I ate all the other stuff but didn’t have a main dinner. All the other food was good and the ambience was nice. It was definitely spendy though. I guess I’d go back again to see what their regular menu is like – but that left a bad taste in my mouth that they were unwilling to cancel our reservation because we were not informed. So many restaurants to choose from, I doubt we will be back.
Great overall experience for Valentines Day! The food was excellent and we enjoy the wine pairings as well!
Was very disappointed in the service - felt like we were being rushed out the door. I also wish the restaurant had confirmed we wanted the Prix Fix menu when confirming the reservation.
We had reservation for Valentines Day....Everything was fantastic! From the time we were seated until the time we left. Harley was our server and she was so attentive and sweet. Kelly(sp?) was so nice! The meal was delicious and just the right amount! Thanks so much!
One of my favorite restaurants! Never disappoints. Want to try different appetizers, but can’t get past the fig and goat cheese bruschetta. Love it! Everything is fresh and so tasty. Service is always excellent and attentive. Extensive Italian region wine selection. Good for pre Arnoff
Went for a late dinner after a show. Full menu was available as were drinks. Especially delicious was the fig and goat cheese crostini. We were there a few years ago and found this establishment to be consistent. Will definitely return sooner than another few years.
menu is pretty limited. The food we order was average in terms of Quality and taste. Lamb shank was a bit old and tough, the risotto was too salty and seemed prepared in a mass production way
Service, food and atmosphere were all excellent!
Party of 4 promptly seated for Saturday pre-show dinner. Server Trent very attentive. Brussel sprouts app was excellent, salads big enough to share, salmon entre was very good, pizza was average. Drinks + eats + tips = $200
I am always happy to write a glowing review of this restaurant. We only make there about once or twice a year and every time it is a wonderful experience. Great service and food. Manager or owner have stopped by to check in with us every time we have been there (too many places discount the value of doing this )
Great wine list too. I can’t think of anything negative to say.
Amazing food. Good service. Wine was a bit overpriced. A bottle you could get for 10$ at the local store was 40$ at the restaurant. But overall would recommend.
So disappointed in Via Vite with all the good things we heard about it. We felt that the restaurant was very cold in temperature and very cold atmosphere - very cold and uninviting and not warm at all. Food was mediocre and very expensive for just a pasta and no protein. Salad prices were outrageous. The choice of bread did not complement the Italian meal. It was a multi-grain very course and dry bread. It was cut very thick and we were given a small dish about 2 inches in diameter with olive oil and no spices. The dry bread did not even fit into this shallow serving dish. The olive oil was not enough for more than one or two pieces of bread. However, the service from Stephanie was absolutely superb! She was very good and attentive. The staff was also very friendly. We will never go back there.
