About Via Tribunali Capitol Hill
We opened our first pizzeria in 2004 in the burgeoning Capitol Hill neighborhood. For months before we opened curious onlookers poked their heads in the former auto body shop, and outlandish rumors spread. One person saw a team of masons reportedly flown in from Naples to build a gargantuan wood-fired oven, someone heard that the bricks also came from Naples rich with Vesuvian ash, a reporter ran a story about a taxi driver leading our owner down a dark Neaopolitan street to meet a talented Pizzaiolo who was then whisked to an airport….
As it turns out almost all of the tall tales are true – on opening night people lined up for the authentic Neaopolitan pizza and since then our ovens have only gotten busier. Via Tribunali has been called "more authentic than the pizzerias of Naples," and even though that is a flattering exaggeration it is fair to say that our pizzerias have grown out of an almost unnatural passion for the food & wine of Southern Italy.

Via Tribunali Capitol Hill Ratings and Reviews
Excellent, we will be back.
A great choice of pizza combinations. Good wine selection., friendly service, booths, not overly loud so you can actually carry on a conversation.
It’s Capital Hill so parking can be a challenge but there are lots on Broadway just a short walk away.
My wife asked for a vegan friendly pasta dish and the chef sent out a very special dish which she raved about.
See you there.
This has become a regular haunt where I take all of my out-of-town guests to eat. It's always been a memorable experience! Most notable was this pst week when I brought a family member who had some dietary challenges and this place accommodated her without making it awkward.
The wine list keeps getting better and better!
Loved it. I made a reservation for a group of 12 via OpenTable, and we got the big table in the private dining area in the back of the restaurant which did comfortably fit all of us (I believe it can fit up to 16 guests). A beautiful interior, cozy lighting and a moderate noise level. Food and service were excellent. They made our whole evening go very smoothly. Thank you, we'll be back!
We celebrated my birthday dinner here and we treated like gold! We were greeted with a smile at the door from a great hostess, Ben did an amazing job serving our every need and recommending great wine and pizza choices, and he even topped it off with a birthday dessert on the house! We'll be back anytime! Thanks for making my birthday dinner a tasty and wonderful experience!
I've been here on multiple occasions and it's always been great but this time was different. I made a reservation for 14 for my fiance's birthday. While the food was great as usual, the service was poor, this is highlighted by the face that we paid well over $100 in tips on a $500+ bill. After an initial wave of service, drink refills weren't provided, we received one pair of sheers for cutting the pizza, and the waitress was incredibly inpatient and rude. This was capped off by being asked to leave an hour and 45 minutes into our reservation because there was another reservation. As I mentioned before, I've been a patron of this restaurant on several occasions; for my brother in law's birthday, a bachelor party, and as casual diners - after this experience (primarily the attitude of the female server) I can't say I'll revisit.
Excellent food. Veal meatballs were great, cesar salad was excellent and I loved my pizza. Service was bad. He took our order, brought the drinks then disappeared. Also, pretty dark. Had to use my flashlight on my phone to see the menu. Great food. Just be prepared for bad service, then you should be fine.
I made a reservation for 9, for a same day reservation. It was perfect for our group. The service was slower than usual but was understandable given we were such a large last-minute party. The food is always great, house wine never disappoints - the beet carpaccio is hands down the best in Seattle.
Excellent food except it was too dark if you are not seated by the street. Next time I would like to be seated by the window. The biggest negative is that the pub style booths/benches are extremely uncomfortable. We will definitely return because the food is very good.
We wanted to grab some good food before a long evening out for my buddies bachelor party. We grabbed some drinks at Optimism Brewery before. We were a little late for our reservation but the hostess was more than kind and very accommodating once we arrived. If I had to find something to complain about, it would be the size of our booth, it was pretty snug for a party of six men, all over 5'10. With that said, the service was superb. We ordered several pizzas which arrived quickly. The food was great and we joyfully went on our ways will full bellies. I'd highly recommend Via Tribunali.
Food was quite good, appetizers and pizza. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Pizza crust amazing....thin but held the toppings. Had a nice table on a nice day "outside"...so good people watching as well. Service was good, though our waitress was not very attentive. I could have had a second glass of wine but she didn't ask and then it was too late.
Another really nice pre-performance dinner at Via Tribunali. Caught the happy hour, so drinks were a bit less. Only two knocks against it... the food takes a bit longer than expected (we had time, so it was ok), and there's always the "whoa, we spent that much for pizza?...) thing, but we did end up getting great apps and dessert, so probably on us...! Server was awesome and spot on with any recommendations and a bit of humor!
Our waiter was knowledgeable way beyond average about the wine and food...he was exceptionally pleasant and professional. Even though we were all late due to a sudden thunder and lightening storm, we made it to the show on time and had an excellent meal sharing 3 pizza's between 6 of us.
The location is great, very cozy place. We sat near the wood stove where the pizza's are cooked and was fun to watch. We ordered a bottle of wine, which was excellent along with the della casa salad. The Capricciosa pizza we ordered wasn't great and was lacking flavor, definitely wouldn't order again. I was sort of bummed since it is basically a pizza place. We ended with the Tiramisu --- nothing short of amazing.
I was looking for a good local neighborhood pizza/Italian place close to downtown Seattle. This restaurant fit perfectly. The pizza was really good but so were the other menu items we had. We went on a Saturday night. Every table was full but we had a reservation so had no wait. The restaurant is pretty small so it led to a really lively atmosphere. If you are looking for a quiet meal this is not the place. Also you could tell our waiter had been there for a long time. He was on top of everything that was going on. He also made a really good suggestion on a bottle of wine. Overall we had no complaints. I'd definitely go back.
Great food and nice staff. I waited at the door for about 15 min before being so much as greeted by a staff member. They seems a bit busy as the owners childs basketball team was having a party. Once we were seated the staff was lovely and the food was very good. Will def be back
Great food, very friendly service. Pizza is hand tossed and cooked in an authentic wood fire oven right by the bar and booths, it took us longer to decide on what to order than it did for our food to arrive! Amazing pizza, slightly chewy moist crust, thin but susbtsinal and wood fire charted. Pizzas are garnished with fresh traditional toppings and some unusual pairings. Good portions. The location is intensely rustic and moody inside, go after dark for most amospehric affect, the wine racks built info the rust colored brick walls, the sturdy and rustic black wood booths, the candle lighting, chandlers. So much charm in such an unexpected place. A tad noisy when I went (although it was a busy holiday so it's likely calmer normally) & slightly expensive food are the only downsides in sight. Try the veal meatballs and a pizza or you'd choice, you won't regret it!
The pizza here was fantastic! I would definitely go back. I thought it was slightly weird that you get scissors to cut the pizza (why not just give out real pizza cutters, or pre-cut the pizza? Is that not hipster enough, I guess?), but it was definitely unique.
We were a little upset that our waitress basically forgot about us for 30 minutes, but we were enjoying our wine so it was fine overall.
I picked the restaurant for a group dinner because it had a private back room. Not only did I book reservations online, I also called the restaurant to reserve the space with a credit card. I also exchanged a few emails with the management. When I arrived, they had given the space to another party. We had a total of 16 people and they were reluctant to accommodate the additional guest. In addition to the reservation mishap, the service was incredibly slow and our waiter seemed annoyed. Although this restaurant is located in a progressive part of the city, I didn't feel welcomed. A member of our party specifically asked about "non dairy" options. The dish came out with a very generous amount of cheese that had obviously been melted on top. It was avoidable. While I respect authenticity, they were unwilling to NOT add cheese. The rest of food was actually good. We enjoyed the music and atmosphere. However, this place would not be my first choice.
We thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Via Tribunali Capitol Hill. Exceptionally well made pizza. Only cons for us, was the very dim night-time lighting; we truly could barely see our food. Wish too the music level was lower. But we intend to return for the pizza. And next time, right when they open so we won't have to deal with winter lighting issues.
