We chose this place because it had great Google reviews and a 4.7 star rating. Immediately upon entering, the staff seemed tense and hesitant. The manager or owner, a big tall guy, was kind and seated us promptly. We were seated by the basement door, and that where it went down hill. There was a god awful stench coming from the basement, so bad that we lost our appetites. We had already ordered and we're in a rush to get to a show, so we couldn't leave and go somewhere else. The food was probably good, but we couldnt tell. We couldn't finish our meals, and couldn't even taste our food over the stench. It smelled like rotting carcasses and garbage. Do not go!

Via Toscana is a magical place where you feel both at home and at an elegant hidden spot. The food is perfectly prepared. The serving team feels like family. You must try the Pears and Ricotta dessert!!

Great place. Smaller and feels “local”. Perfect before a show but without the craziness of some pre-theater places. Servers were kind. Chef/owner (?) walked around touching tables and checking in. Will be back.

We had a pre theatre dinner here. Service was great! Bread is amazing! Shared a special watermelon & feta salad and a burrata & tomato salad. Shared two pastas-fettuccine Alfredo & a bouillanaise. They were both al dente. Cappuccinos were delicious & shared a warm chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. Also, priced very reasonably for nyc!
