Via Sophia was amazing! The service was great - they treated us so well. We felt like the most important table in the restaurant. The duck was fantastic, and they were very accommodating to my dietary restrictions.
Delicious clam linguine and very friendly service. I would return here.
Queríamos pizza y nos lo encontramos en e camino...valió la pena! Las entradas muy bien presentadas y deliciosas. El personal con excelente actitud y disposición, la pizza deliciosa. Muy recomendable!
Wonderful experience. Issac was amazing! Great food.
Hilda was fantastic and very accommodating. Food was colorful, flavorful and beautifully presented.
Cool. Good food. Service was meh
Although the restaurant has a full and delicious sounding Italian menu, we were in the mood for something simple - and Via Sophia’s pizza hit the spot perfectly. Both my colleague and I opted for the Macellaio pizza, topped with s variety of charcuterie and buffalo mozzarella. Great crust, thin, crispy and chewy at the same time, plus high quality toppings. The service was friendly and the tables nicely spaced, making private conversation easy (always a plus in DC!). A very pleasant experience in a very convenient location.
The chef seemed to be trying too hard -- the simple pasta dishes were a little too heavily embellished. The already too noisy restaurant was made worse by obnoxious music. The waiter was efficient and the staff welcoming.
Good experience - service was slow but very friendly. Food was delicious. Great cheese board.
Great staff and service. Food is tasty, make sure you get the pasta al dente to prevent overcooking of the pasta, trust me it will come out perfectly. The pizzas are tasty and the soup presentation and taste are great! And, in a hurry, great working lunch place.
The place smelled like heavy cleaner had been used to mop the floors.
Interesting menu with solid choices if looking for something different
Menu is grey type printed on cream paper. Nearly impossible to read. Waiter barely spoke to us. Not attentive. Branzino excellent.
Amazing fusion of flavors on rustic Italian cuisine!
We were disappointed that we were overcharged for the bottle of wine we had ordered. When we brought it to the waiter’s attention an adjustment was made. But this shouldn’t happen!
The food was excellent, the service attentive, thoughtful and prompt, the Montepulciano was superb.
The experience was definitely fine-dining not a hotel restaurant. A great addition to DC dining.
Perfect place to have Thanksgiving dinner. Wonderful choices and delicious food: everyone could have their favorites. So grateful for special restaurants like this one.
We had the Thanksgiving menu on our first visit to Via Sophia. The food was outstanding, definitely worth every penny. Highly recommend the duck gnocchi which is part of their normal menu. We will definitely be back!
This was my first visit to Via Sophia, and I was quite impressed with the food! Really enjoyed the butternut squash ricotta appetizer, and then the pasta with wild boar ragu! Both were fantastic! Shared the porterhouse for two with my friend. It was cooked perfectly to medium rare, but was nevertheless on the dry side. Overall though, it was a great meal, and the service was excellent also. The only downside is that the space is very noisy. Fortunately, there weren't too many people when we were there, so it was tolerable.
Via Sophia was a real find in the crowed DC restaurant space. I chose it after reviewing several menus at various restaurants and went because of the crudo. It was truly fantastic. Khadija the resturant manager gave me a warm welcome when I arrived and Issac my waiter provided exceptional service.
Waiter and host was really friendly.... the service was great and the calamari was absolutely amazing... salmon was good -!: the hand made pasta is also amazing... I love every moment of my time in this restaurant
Nice Italian restaurant. Authentico! The only negative was a bit of noise.
One if my most enjoyable dinners at a new restaurant in ages.
The food was terrific. Each course was delicious.
Enzo, our server could not have been more gracious.
Their corkage fee is fair and the room much less noisy than most newer dining spots in DC.
I look forward to a return visit, doon
Everything about my visit to Via Sophia was outstanding.
Our server, Tyler, was very knowledgeable and attentive.
I look forward to dining there again soon.
Excellent service, food, presentation. Ahmed is an excellent manager.
First time and I’m making plans to go back. Everything we ordered tasted flavorful and fresh. It was a party on my mouth!
the menu was too limited and I didn't feel I received value for my dinner. however, my guest was very pleased with the pizza. It is very noisy. I value that they did not rush us out. The wait staff is either overwhelmed or not in sync when the orders arrive. my guest wanted wine with the meal but only received the wine 3/4 through the meal due to the delays in seeing the wine list and receiving the wine. Otherwise we found the waiter patient and attentive.
Food was quite good .
We took our time, enjoying and sharing wine, a generous meat and cheese board, the bucatini, and 2 sides. The service was excellent; our waiter read our table well to know when we were ready to order more. Also they knew it was my birthday and surprised me with a lovely tiramisu with a candle in it. Overall a great experience!
Terrific waiter Oscar. We were there for a birthday lunch. They provided beautiful slice of cake w a candle, very lovely. Lots of hard surfaces so IS loud even though wasn’t very crowded. But over all I recommend.
Was there for brunch. Great cocktails. Hamachi was tasty, nicely presented though rather small for $16. Polenta & eggs , cottagecheese pancakes fluffy topped with berries.
I used to love the salads. The new fall salad was nothing like the previous ones and I did not feel I got a value. The pizza is better value than pasta.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining Saturday night at Via Sophia. The ambiance was nice, a little noisy, but a fun vibrant atmosphere. The food was delicious from start to finish. Our server Enzo and the rest of the staff were very attentive. We will definitly be going back.
My husband and I had a lovely meal at Vis Sophia. We shared a burrata appetizer that was particularly dense and delicious. My husband had a pasta dish he loved and I had a mushroom pizza that had very classy mushrooms on it (not your standard white buttons). Service was friendly and prompt. The only downside was the tables are pretty close together, so the noise level from a table of three women a few feet away was annoying.
Excellent food and service. Would prefer it a bit quieter but you can hear your dinner companions with slightly raised voices.
The food is pretty good here, but the restaurant is extremely loud, even when not entirely full. Also the service was a bit slow.
Bruschetta tapinade was great; bread not too crusty and topping excellent. Pasta was fresh and good
Food was excellent. Particularly the pizzas are delicious. Overall great experience.
I took my daughter to Via Sophia for her birthday. Isaac was our waiter. Besides singing Happy Birthday (quite well I may add), he graciously gave us a dessert wine and a dessert on the house. We shared the whipped ricotta bruschetta for an appetizer, and split the linguine with clams and the cappelletti with butternut squash. An excellent meal and great service in an area with not a lot of good dining options. Will definitely return!
We loved the food and the service was absolutely on point. Thank you!
