Terrific waiter Oscar. We were there for a birthday lunch. They provided beautiful slice of cake w a candle, very lovely. Lots of hard surfaces so IS loud even though wasn’t very crowded. But over all I recommend.

Was there for brunch. Great cocktails. Hamachi was tasty, nicely presented though rather small for $16. Polenta & eggs , cottagecheese pancakes fluffy topped with berries.

I used to love the salads. The new fall salad was nothing like the previous ones and I did not feel I got a value. The pizza is better value than pasta.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining Saturday night at Via Sophia. The ambiance was nice, a little noisy, but a fun vibrant atmosphere. The food was delicious from start to finish. Our server Enzo and the rest of the staff were very attentive. We will definitly be going back.

My husband and I had a lovely meal at Vis Sophia. We shared a burrata appetizer that was particularly dense and delicious. My husband had a pasta dish he loved and I had a mushroom pizza that had very classy mushrooms on it (not your standard white buttons). Service was friendly and prompt. The only downside was the tables are pretty close together, so the noise level from a table of three women a few feet away was annoying.

Excellent food and service. Would prefer it a bit quieter but you can hear your dinner companions with slightly raised voices.

The food is pretty good here, but the restaurant is extremely loud, even when not entirely full. Also the service was a bit slow.

I took my daughter to Via Sophia for her birthday. Isaac was our waiter. Besides singing Happy Birthday (quite well I may add), he graciously gave us a dessert wine and a dessert on the house. We shared the whipped ricotta bruschetta for an appetizer, and split the linguine with clams and the cappelletti with butternut squash. An excellent meal and great service in an area with not a lot of good dining options. Will definitely return!

What fabulous food and what a great deal for brunch! The smoked salmon and the frisee salad (with artichokes, pancetta & poached egg) were plentiful and delicious. Both the duck egg raviolo and the pizza (fennel sausage, smoked mozzarella, rapini) were each embued with flavor and had a lovely crispiness. App, entree and a full bottle (NOT a half-bottle) of very passable prosecco for only $35! You can beat this quality for this price!

My first time here was amazing! The hostess (whose name sounds like Kadijah) was amazing and she addressed me by name the entire night and complimented me on my outfit. The server, Enzo, was nice and polite. The Manager, Mohammed, checked on us frequently and gave us complimentary digestivi (wine) and explained the reasoning for drinking it after the meal. NOT TO MENTION THE FOOD WAS AWESOME! We also got privately escorted to the “hidden bar” and enjoyed one last round of cocktails. FIVE STARS for great customer service.

We stayed at the Hamilton. Ate at the restaurant 2 times. Once just to have tea and cheese plate outside in late evening (nobody in group drinks alcohol) and twice for breakfast. I wish I remembered our waiter for Sunday breakfast. Excellent and very nice. One today was a short guy who was kind of abrupt but still ok. Prices not too bad for hotel restaurant. Not a big selection but what I’ve learned from going out is that restaurants with smaller, simpler menus usually are better. Food came nice and hot.

Watch because they put the gratuity in the check. We only had 3 people. I think I didn’t notice that the first 2 times so those guys got real nice tips.

The food was wonderful. The staff were warm and attentive. They have done a great remodeling from the previous owners. I really hope they have the well deserved success. I am absolutely adding Via Sophia to my go to dinning establishments.

This review is for brunch, not dinner. I have not tried their Italian cuisine, which may be much better. The brunch, however, was not good. A friend and I were looking for a pretty outdoor brunch, where we could catch up with each other. Via Sophia allows you to select outdoor reservations which it great! The patio faces a tree-filled park so it was very pretty. And the servers allowed us to sit and catch up as long as we wanted to (they were plenty of empty tables, so we weren't holding up other diners). So, reservation, location/setting, and service was all great. The food, however, was very disappointing. I ordered an omelet and had to ask for potatoes on the side (I guess it normally comes without any sides, which is fine but there was confusion when I asked if it comes with potatoes or anything). My friend got a chicken sandwich of some sort. She was not happy with her sandwich, said it was very plain, unflavorful. My omelet looked like a small frozen meal that they heated and put on a nice plate. I wish I had taken a photo, but we both said, 'huh... that looks weird'. It did not look fresh at all. As I cut into it and took a bit, I'm still not convinced it wasn't a frozen meal. The flavors were terrible. I don't know how else to describe it. If they had blindly thrown a couple of eggs in a pan, added some veggies and cheese, and dumped it on a plate, it would have been great and MUCH better than what I got. I'm not sure how you ruin eggs but... they did. The side of potatoes were good, so there's something.

Again, reviewing brunch not dinner. Great place for setting and service (and wine) but do not eat the brunch.

Amazing cuisine! Chef Colin Clark really has outdone himself. Not only is the food great, the drink selection is top notch and the indoor/outdoor table service and bar area have a very hip atmosphere. I can wait to go back and try the brunch menu.

The bread was excellent, which is always an encouraging sign. We asked about half orders of pasta since we were going to split the bistecca fiorentina for two, and the server said they didn't do half orders, but the portions were small, and she would ask. I believe she said they ended up serving us the full portion (which was small for a full portion, but perfect for us), and they only charged us for one of the two pastas, which was nice (price listed seemed high if these were full orders). I thought the tortellini with fresh corn (which were not closed up like typical tortellini but presented as little cups overflowing with goodness) tasted like the perfect end of summer. The bucatini cacio e pepe was also very good. The steak was perfect -- the garlic cream it was served with was a particular hit. I liked the wine list -- good options without being too pricey. And the chocolate budino was the best dessert I've had in a while: the chocolate was not too sweet, and there was rosemary incorporated in the dish, which I have not had with chocolate before, but which really worked. Delicious.

Via Sophia is a lovely, modern restaurant with both inside and outside seating. Service is outstanding. Appetizers (starters) are fantastic. If a guest in on a low carbohydrate diet, the menu offers little.
Pastas and pizzas are good. No veal, no beef, no shell fish, satisfactory fin fish. Excellent view of K street for people watching.

This first experience at the recommendation of my DC based son was terrific! The food the personalized service and the amazing wine and food recommendations from the General Manager made the evening incredibly special! The evening was enhanced by the General Manager’s concern ( which extended beyond our table). He inspired his staff who responded magnificently.

The service was excellent, and the ambiance was attractive. Although we were seated a considerable distance away, there were two large tables of guests who were screaming at each other. They were having fun, but they really negatively affected everyone else's dining experience. The restaurant can't do anything about guests like these except not to use the noise enhancing interiors so popular with restaurants these days.

The antipasti, primi, and mains were excellent. The desserts were terrible. They were seriously overpriced: $12 each, which is twice to a third more than other restaurants of this caliber. The options were unimaginative. We ordered gelato and sorbet. I just spent 12 weeks in Italy, and this was no gelato. It was American commercial ice cream with icy bits. Italy gelato and sorbets have intense flavors. We couldn't tell if the "pistachio" was vanilla or pistachio. The sorbets were bland. We gather that they buy their gelatos and sorbets outside. Unless they can get good vendors (and at these prices, they should be able to get the very best), they should eliminate these items from their menu. They need to focus on imaginative and tasty desserts instead of routine and bland options.

I have known that Via Sophia's culinary experience is superior, but I was blown away after experiencing it for myself. The brunch menu was exquisite -- filled with flavors I have never tasted. The food, most notably, was cooked to perfection, every bite was better than the last. Would DEFINITELY recommend every foody in D.C. to experience Via Sophia at least twice. BRAVO
