Via Arenella is a modern extension of this piece of our family history. We are incredibly excited to be back where it all started to share our passion for food with you.
Our family recipes were born in the heart of Naples at Piazza Arenella, passed down through generations and across continents. We stay true to the traditions of Southern Italian cuisine bringing fresh, quality ingredients from our family to your table.
The best grilled octopus in the Northwest suburbs. The entrees were also very good, but the risotto was just ok.
Had a reservation for 7:30 PM on a Saturday. The host staff were friendly and accommodating, but we had bread and salads in the first half hour and then nothing almost another hour. The food was good, not great, and the atmosphere is more bar than restaurant. While the chef or owner sent out a couple of pieces of lemoncello cake without charge for the wait, they never appeared to say anything personally.
Overall - I had heard good things from repeat customers and wanted to try it, but there are better options in the Arlington Heights area.
Great food and pleasant staff
Food was delicious and satisfying.
Loved the decor. Service was very attentive. Food was delicious. Will definitely recommend!
We had a lovely evening with wonderful food. I had the chicken with mushroom that was delicious. My girlfriend had chicken Parmesan which she enjoyed. The portion was so large she took some home to enjoy for leftovers. Our waitress was lovely.
This quaint little Italian place is situated in a small strip mall, so you might not think much of it at first sight, but once inside you'll find a trendy-rustic atmosphere with friendly staff, a great craft beer selection, and an enticing menu. We were visiting from out of state, so it was a great place to try Chicago deep dish pizza and sample some local beers. We only wish our waitress would have warned us about the portion sizes before our party of five ordered enough food to feed a small country!
This hidden gem is a family owned and operated Italian Restaurant with the best grilled octopus I’ve ever tasted. We shared several entrees, finding each equally delicious. I will keep coming back until I have had an opportunity to try everything.
Great pasta dishes! The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The octopus was outstanding!
Love the fact that the restaurant is family owned and operated. The food is excellent and the portions enough to share or take home for dinner next day. From the hostess to the server to the assistants, their friendliness and attentiveness was incredible. We’ve been here twice and and have not been disappointed at all. Our new local favorite❤️❤️
Always enjoy this local gem. My wife and I share entrees, always leftovers. Cocktails and wine options are fun. Recipes are generally better than average, ask what's popular if you can't decide. Operators are good hosts, neighborhood is lucky to have Via Arenella. I moved away 2 years ago but still come back for dinner when I can
I would only recommend with strong cautions. While food was very good and prices moderate, it is very noisy and service was slow. Additionally, my wife has a soy allergy and the waitress said not to use the oil from the "cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil" container on our table because they weren't sure if it had been refilled with some other oil??? We almost always eat at Italian restaurants or very high-end ones because they don't use cheap "vegetable oil", so found this very disappointing. Also, they were less than helpful regarding this matter relative to their salad dressings and other items.
Staff and food are great!
Friendly greetings, acceptable waitstaff, good food. Good specials Too loud to be enjoyable.
We were referred to this restaurant by a friend. I am soooo glad we took his suggestion. From the moment we walked in our awesome experience began. The hostess, server and all staff were very courteous, helpful and excellent. That was just the start...the portions were large and the food was incredible. Hats off to the chef. Will definitely make this a frequent place to eat.
The server was wonderful. He was very attentive.
My salad was large and delicious. The grilled calamari was tough.. not sure if it was over or undercooked but it was not good. My husbands veal Marsala was awful. The veal was rubbery and it was breaded which was spongy. There were lots of mushrooms and the flavor of the sauce was good but I think the veal was a frozen breaded veal patty.
We told the server and he took it off our bill without any fuss. But we were very disappoint with the quality of food
We go to Aranello’s often as it is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. The Caesar salad is one of the best I have had along with the thick tomato based minestrone soup. The restaurant is very flexible in customizing an entree. I had chicken outtanesca which was delicious. The serving sizes are very large with plenty to take home for leftovers. The waiters are friendly as are the hostess that greets you. Make sure you have a reservation.
Excellent food. Every dish we had tasted great. The portions were huge. Highly recommend the restaurant
We missed the former Arenella on Hintz Road and we were excited to hear about this spot which was conveniently located near us in a small shopping center.
The first thing I noticed upon entering was the lighting. The bar was inviting with soft blue accents behind the shelving and along the base by the stools. The restaurant itself had harsh ceiling and wall lights that could have benefitted from dimmer switches.
We started with soup or salad. Our dinners were Chicken Parmigiana (no side of pasta was included), Gnocchi with Vodka Sauce, Eggplant Parmigiana and Capellini Carbonara. Portions were huge and the pastas were good. The Eggplant was not to my sister’s liking, as it was a large, mushy pile of cheese, sauce and overcooked eggplant.
The acoustics were terrible! The restaurant was not even full when we arrived but by the time our food arrived it was full and we had to shout to hear each other. Surely something could be done to address this.
Our server was friendly and prompt with drinks and delivery of our food orders. The pizza heading to nearby tables looked really good.
Outstanding as usual! Always a wonderful experience
Great food. New specials. Old favorites. Will be back to try other items.
Food was just fair, I was at a previous location of theirs and the food was much better. I found it to be very salty. I think I will pass in the future.
As usual everything was fantastic. Via Arenella is at the top of our list.
The appetizer we ordered was great but the main was the worst meal we have ever had. We ordered Ravioli and the dough was raw. We also ordered clams with linguini and there was enough olive oil & garlic sauce for 5 other dishes.
Celebrating high school graduation; party of 20. First time here. Food, service, and atmosphere was awesome! I was fully accommodated and I will definitely recommend this place.
The food portions are huge! Friendly service and good prices
Good food and friendly service. Nice surprise in an otherwise mundane strip mall
Service was not as good as usual, but one dinner was removed from our bill since it arrived much later than the other entrees. We were impressed and will definitely dine here again because the owner brought that meal to the table, apologized for the error, and offered to comp the meal. That’s the kind of customer service that keeps customers coming back!!
Mother's Day Dinner!
Four of us met for a Saturday evening dinner for Mother's Day. With a reservation, there was no wait, service was attentive, and the food was fabulous. Good wine & beer choices. It can get a little loud, but that's expected when they're full. Our vegetarian guest found plenty to choose from. A great family-owned place, a little off the beaten path but worth it!
Classic American italian restaurant. We ordered all over the menu and everything was well seasoned and well prepared. Big chunks of tomato and garlic on the bruschetta. Ministrone soup was heavy on the vegetables. All in a good way. Lots of butter and cheese. New York style pizza was a nice blend of Chicago style sauce and low moisture mozzarella with a pretty good yeasty crust.
Dining room was super crowded and busy with a couple of oversized tables slamming the kitchen pretty hard. Service mostly kept up, but the entrees took a few minutes longer to make it to the table than I wish they would have. Under the circumstances we were happy with service. If you want to be in and out without downtime at the table, this may not be for you. If you want a great meal with time to enjoy each others company, head over.
I have brought several people here because it’s one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to in the area. I highly recommend it. Everyone I have brought here says it’s their new favorite place. The portions are huge! I love their chicken vesuvio, their risotto and my favorite soup is their pasta fazool.
Great meal. Food a little salty though. Will come again!
Great Food and atmosphere!
Very generous serving sizes of well prepared, classic Italian food.
Celebrating our daughter’s birthday!!
Food, service and everything else was wonderful. Food was delicious!! True Italian .
Hidden away in a strip mall, this restaurant has terrific Italian food. Lasagna was delicious, as was the cod with pasta. Prices are reasonable and our waitress was knowledgeable and gave us great service. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our dinner very much. The food was great. The service needs to be better. It took over 45 mins to get our fried calamari and 2 kids meals. It was not overly busy. No one ever came to buss our table so we were constantly stacking and having to ask for things to be cleared. The food was great and we will go back but hoping the service steps up a bit!
When on a Saturday at 7:30. Table just had to be cleared for us to sit so really no wait. We ordered a couple of pasta dishes. Food was good but not spectacular. Meatballs (2 with order) were large and very good. I would recommend taking a couple home with you and make sandwiches. They slice very nicely. When we sat down we noticed the grated cheese bowl on on table was empty. We asked for a new one and they took a partially full one off another table and gave it to us. Really? That was not a good move. I really don't want someone's left over cheese. Waitress came by promptly and took drink order. After a while the soda's and my wife's wine arrive. I was informed my martini would be a few minutes. Ended up being over 10 minutes to the point i thought they forgot. Food took a very long time to come with the table next to us getting their food before us despite ordering afterwards. While the service was't terrible it wasn't to a level i would risk going back. The waitress never checked in with us until the meal was over. All in all i will spend my $100 elsewhere.
Our meal was fantastic, our server, Chris, was great. Overall everything was fantastic, can’t wait to go back.
The Chicken Arenella and Chicken Saltimboca were both very good, with generous portions. Service was excellent and cocktails also very good!
