We live in the Ferndale area and have eaten lunch at the VI many times over the years. This was another wonderful experience. It has charming and rustic atmosphere and and the food is skillfully prepared and served and delicious. As usual, it is quite and we could hear each other talk. This time it was a 94th birthday celebration for our mother!

We booked this restaurant to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. I ordered the lobster and my husband ordered the paella. Both were cooked to perfection. We were pleasantly surprised to only be charged a $15 corking fee for the special bottle of champagne we brought.
The service was excellent and they made us feel special for coming to celebrate with them.
We enjoyed the food so much we came back the following day for a light dinner in the bar. The cocktail of the day was a special cucumber mule that was delicious and refreshing. We shared a hamburger as both of us were not that really hungry and we wanted to save room for dessert. A delicious freshly baked chocolate brownie alla mode with caramel sauce.

Charming and elegant with amazing food! I ordered a Moscow mule with my dinner and received a recommendation from the waitress to try their special using cucumber vodka. It was lovely! So refreshing and a delightful compliment to the chef special I had for dinner.

The VI is in a lovely Victorian building, which might be more engaging if the walls were painted a richer hue. The food was quite good—the roasted vegetable soup was tasty, if a bit heavy on the tomatoes. The sole with grits was also good, but a tad over cooked and a little dry. The broccollini was perfect..The service was pleasant and attentive. All in all, an enjoyable meal in a pretty setting.

We took our granddaughter for a fancy dinner while on vacation. The petrale sole was out of almonds so they substituted pine nuts which my husband did not like. My granddaughter chose the paella and none of us could eat it. It was so heavily spiced with saffron that we didn’t like it at all. We took it home so as not to create a fuss, but tossed it.

Our server, Ryan, did a great job.

Table was ready on time. the server was super attentive and helpful on dinner choice. We were in town on a Monday night and for the dinner hours there was live music. A local singer was at the mic. The food was excellent . This was a very good dining experence . Look foward to a re-visit

Certainly not our first visit to the Victorian Inn Restaurant. Our "Table was waiting," and we received a warm welcome upon arrival. Later our host Lowell stopped by the table to greet us. The service was excellent. I tried the chili glazed salmon and my spouse asked for the pan roasted chicken. Both entrees were prepared to perfection. The local wine. "Shooting Star" cab was delightful and the dessert was superb. Another warm, relaxing and tasteful dining experience. Many thanks, Eric and Rita V.

Let me first say that I rarely write reviews and If I do it has to be really bad. I also have a background of 7 yrs in the restaurant business. Took a friend here for their birthday. It looked high end which is few and far between in our county and of course prices to match so I did have some 'expectations'. I ordered the Clam chowder to start and it was tasty but only had 2 small pieces of clams. Waiter said, "Sorry, must have been a bad scoop." Wasn't real happy with that remark but I let the clamless, clam chowder and remark slide. I ordered the rib eye steak for dinner, med rare. It was served to me med. - med. well. I did not order that and I didn't want to wait for them to make another one. At this point I was becoming extremely unhappy. They did take it off the bill, but the waiter had the nerve to tell me that the chef himself apparently said that it was med. rare and I should have ordered it rare for it to be to my liking. That's what really rattled my chain. I'm 49 yrs old and have been eating steak for many years. The center of that steak was 2/3 pink and 1/3 brown. No red and no juice coming from it. I cut into it all over and no red and no juice to be seen. I found it extremely rude and unprofessional to tell a paying customer in a high price restaurant that I ordered the steak wrong. Also when I received the bill they charged me 50 cents for an extra side of ranch dressing for my salad! I will never go there again. Between the 7.50 cup of clamless chowder that was still on my bill, the extra charge for dressing and their attitude about the steak ... Chef Jason, needs to go back to school. I wish Chef Ramsey would have been there, he would have ripped him proper!

Delightful dinner at the VI recently. The braised shortribs are reason enough to have dinner there, but the Charbroiled steak was excellent too! It is so nice to go to a restaurant where the noise level is subdued..so many are not and even with your partner across the table, conversations at other restaurants can be impossible..Not so at the VI. It is well worth the visit.

The food served was fabulous. Homemade soup, on a rainy day, was yummy. What more could a person ask? Shared a sandwich and sweet potato fries....done perfectly. House wine was good. Server was sweet and efficient.

Another excellent dining experience. We were greeted by our host Lowell that seated us at our requested table. The dining room is spacious and creates the atmosphere for a relaxing meal. My spouse selected the chicken. It was prepared to perfection. I enjoyed a very nice seafood selection. The wine list was complete. We selected and enjoyed a nice bottle from an area winery. Dessert was fantastic. Many thanks. We look forward to our next visit.

The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. The lit fireplace added a nice ambiance and appeal. The food was delicious but they were out of clams for the dish I ordered which was paella. The waiter was most sincerely apologetic on behalf of the chef. The sausage texture was woody feeling while chewing it o/w the food was great.

The service was amazing. They were friendly and welcoming. They didn’t mind that we just ordered appetizers and drinks in the dining room. They also didn’t treat us like second class citizens because we were two women. They offered us a choice of two great tables.

We ate here for Thanksgiving, and several breakfasts, the restaurant was decorated beautifully and the atmosphere was very festive. There was a preset menu to choose from which was delightful if you didn’t want a traditional turkey dinner. The food was delicious. The only reason I’m giving a fair on service is because the waiter on Thanksgiving, brought our food and my husbands was not what he ordered. The waiter left my food and said it would be 2 minutes to get his back out. I was almost completely finished when my husbands food finally came, about 10 minutes later. At first the waiter blamed the kitchen but then said it was his fault. We didn’t really care whose fault it was but the waiter could have given us a complimentary dessert to make up for it. To top it off, He then charged us for tea and coffee which were included with dinner and we had to question him about it and have the ticket changed.

The Victorian Inn's dining room is a beautiful, historic place to eat while enjoying a trip to Ferndale. We were celebrating a friend's 70th birthday, and this was the perfect spot for a special birthday dinner. After dinber we attended a concert at the nearby Old Steeple, ideally located just one block from the Victorian Inn and perfect for a short after-dinner stroll.

Fantastic and amazing all around!!! The service was attentive. The ambiance is cozy, romantic, and classy. Our steaks we're perfect. In fact, we found the steaks to be too large! We will absolutely come here whenever we are in Ferndale!

There are not many choices in Ferndale but we would have enjoyed this restaurant even if we were home in the San Francisco bay area. The food was delicious. Like every place we ate or shopped at in Humboldt county the service was slower than we were used to so allow extra time for your meal.

Delicious vegetarian dish of Linguine primavera. Nice ambiance, piano music in background. Our waitress was right on target with checking in occasionally. Will be back again soon.

A delicious meal in a historic inn in a historic-rich town. While it would serve as a more formal establishment in a larger metropolitan area, in a smaller town it serves many of the locals resulting in a softer more casual and friendly ambience. Food was delicious, especially their rich and savory clam chowder. We happily frequented it for two of our three night stay in Ferndale.

Very BUSY. A reservation is a MUST! Special salad was wonderful. Most servers were pleasant and attentive. Parking is limited, especially for our big pickup truck...ended up across the street.
