Went there for happy hour and dinner on a Saturday evening. Happy hour was fine, drinks were good and made quickly, I think because it wasn’t busy yet. As it got busier things started to go downhill. We waited over an hour for our food and they screwed up part of our order. We were going to send it back but didn’t feel like waiting another hour for it.
From other reviews I’ve read this place is good when it’s slow, when it picks up the staff can’t handle it. We won’t be back.
Wonderful dining experience. Food, drinks and service were all top notch!
It was Valentines Day and everything was amazing. The set menu had a lot of variety and was filling. The wine and alcoholic beverage selection were excellent!!! And I loved the atmosphere.
I went to Vessel for a special coursed meal to celebrate Valentine's Day. The food was absolutely delicious and priced great for everything that we got. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hostess even offered to go outside to take a few photos of me and my boyfriend.
My lady and I enjoyed every aspect of this experience and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for great food, a nice wine selection, and a great time. Our server (Cedric) was the bomb!
Sorry to say the waitress was a mess. Brought out second course first and only two of the three orders. Waited forever to get the third. Then random first course salads were brought out, but again missing one of the orders. More lag time. Entrees were delivered at different times. Embarrassing poor service. She apologized each time. But really!? Supposed to be a nice restaurant. Boo!
Waffles with jam were great. Server was nice and humored my son when he wanted to ‘help pay’. Also they were very mindful with his allergies.
A Special place to say the least.
I really love that the building used to be a church.
And there's definitely a lot of energy in the space.
The service I received was outstanding.
Tracy really took great pride in her duties and made sure I was well taken care of.
I love a good meal for one.
I'll definitely return. Thanks again.
I had great hopes for this restaurant, but it just didn't live up to my standards for an "anniversary" night out. First thing, I had mentioned in my reservation that it was my anniversary...no mention at all at the restaurant. The restaurant was much smaller than I had expected with tables so close to each other that I could not help but overhear the man next to me talk about his sickness and the discussion of where the nurse gave him a shot (that took about 10 minutes). We were put at one of the smallest tables I've ever had and after we ordered the waitress did not even remove the bar/menu book from our table. Since we ordered several plates, there was hardly any room. We had to ask for almost everything we needed. It took her 10 minutes for her to bring out an extra napkin for my husband. I do admit, the food was prepared nicely. My fish and his pork chop were cooked perfectly, and the chopped salad was delish, but our desserts were way below par. It tasted like my chocolate cake had been made 3 days before and left out. It was so dry, not at all how the waitress described (fudgy and gooey). My husband's bread pudding was dry too without any kind of sauce to soak up into the bread. It was suppose to have a coffee ice cream on top, but we were told they had run out. ???????? Our reservation was for 7:00 pm...how do you run out that early? All in all, it was OK, but I didn't go there to have OK food and ambiance. Don't think I will be back.
Very good meal. The space is gorgeous, but needs to he warmed up a bit.
Awesome building and delicious food and drinks! Our waiter was very helpful, although we were the only table there! I ordered my nurse with no cheese but there seemed to be a mix up in the kitchen. They were very accommodating and offered a new burger but I declined and they ended up just taking the burger off the bill. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a good dinner spot off the beaten path with a cool vibe and yummy food.
6 pieces of cheese and some jam purree does not make a $17.00 appetizer.
Food has ok, not spectacular as presented.
Had a issue with incorrect food. Owner called to apologize, very professional.
VESSEL NOLA was not what I expected at all.. It was a welcomed change from all the other restaurants I've been to in NOLA and in my hometown of Philly.. The ambiance was very calm and inviting. Our waiter was very attentive and answered all of our many questions. The fact that 2 out of the 4 ppl who attended dinner were vegan and you guys really catered to our food preferences said alot. If I'm ever on New again I'd be sure to come back..
Hardly any one in there when we first arrived at 11. Quick service. Filled up at the end of our meal. Very good!
Really enjoyed the meal, very creative. Would highly recommend.
I cannot say enough good things about this place! The building and atmosphere are just amazing and the food delicious. I came with 2 friends and we had 3 different cocktail and then ordered the cheese board, pickle plate and fish dip to start. For our main dishes, we had the scallops, pork chop and short ribs. Everything was so good we could not decide which was our favorite. The staff super friendly and everything was just perfect. We left incredibly full and satisfied. This is my 3rd time coming and I cannot wait to come back.!
Amazing is the only word to describe this place! I think this may just be the most gorgeous restaurant in New Orleans. We started out with craft cocktails at their bar. Whoever designed the bar is a genius. The way the bottles climb the large stained glass window is so beautiful. We then moved to a table where my husband and I started off with the shrimp corn salad and mussels and for the main dishes we had the market fish lentils and pork chop. Everything was absolutely delicious! You could tell everything was made to order. Everywhere you look in the restaurant it is so beautiful. Prices are reasonable given the quality and quantity . Our waitress was so fun and knowledgeable of the menu too! This is my new favorite place in New Orleans.
My second visit and it was as good as the first time. Absolutely love this place and the interesting combination of flavors the chef offers. Of course, I love the ambiance and the service was great.
Beautiful venue, great service, food was warm not hot.
VERY disappointed with the entire night @ Vessel. This was for a birthday dinner, we were hoping for an intimate dinner and drinks. Nothing "intimate" about the place, the tables are literally side by side, a person can't fit between the tables without turning sideways. The waitress was AWFUL - she couldn't tell us anything about the wine menu and when ordering mixed drinks, she was confused on the alcohol we ordered. She kept asking us if we wanted them "on the rocks" (all mixed drinks typically come with "ice", and a single shot or double of just plain alcohol is "on the rocks"). The drinks we ordered were entirely too strong, to the point that we couldn't drink them - and I'm all for strong pouring, but this was almost as if there was nothing mixed with the alcohol. She then took our appetizer order and later came back to take our menus without taking our order. literally had to ask her to take our order or she would have taken the menu and walked off. The fried brussel spouts, which was our appetizer, was extremely salty. The "baked" fish looked anything but baked, it was hard and the top was burnt.
The entire experience was so bad that we actually considered leaving and going somewhere for a cheeseburger - in the end, since it was late and we were hungry, we ate around the bad/burnt parts, didn't drink our drinks at all, paid the $85.00 bill and left.
Needless to say, I'll never go back and I do NOT recommend this place at all.
Our server brought menus and water 5 minutes after we were seated; she then disappeared. 20 minutes later, I intercepted her as she approached the next table and asked her to take our drinks order. Ten minutes later we had not yet received the drinks. I caught the attention of the wait staff captain, who then fetched them. Our server eventually reappeared to take the food order. A different server delivered our food and left before we could order more drinks. I managed to get the attention of the captain and attempted to place our order, but she walked off to another table. She did return, but said that she would have our server take the drink order.
As an additional annoyance, our water glasses were never refilled.
The food was good, but not outstanding, and overpriced compared to comparable restaurants.
Adorable restaurant in a renovated church. Love that they kept the stained glass windows! The atmosphere is cozy but just a tad bit too dark. The service was friendly. While the food was delicious, the scallops were slightly over cooked and all the ingredients in the pear salad were in the bottom of the bowl, which was presented without a serving utensil. The risotto that accompanied the scallops was some of the best I've ever tasted. And the red fish, which was the special that evening, was excellent. I would definitely dine here again.
Everything from the look and feel of the restaurant, to the food, & the service. The cheese board, oyster soup, pear salad and risotto were all incredible. Oh and the chocolate cake with coffee flavored ice cream! Our waitress was not only familiar with the menu, but she was also able to tell us some neat historical facts of the the building. The rest of the staff was also nice and welcoming and made sure we were well taken care of. If you’re in New Orleans Vessel NOLA is a must to check out!!
Come for the specialty cocktails, stay for the mussels. I'm already planning my next visit!
Very pleasant atmosphere and the food was delicious!
Enjoyed a fabulous weekend brunch - delicious food and lovely presentation. Wonderful bloody mary from the beautiful bar!
Overall, great food and ambiance. Server was terrible.
Food was really disappointing. Not great flavors or inventive menu. Everything came out luke warm and so quickly there’s no way It was made to order and that was obvious in the taste. Cocktail were great though and the interior is beautiful which made the food quality all the more disappointing
The food and service were exceptional, but the building is just beautiful!
I had read about Vessel in Architectural Digest and was anxious to see the space. We went there with a friend our first week in New Orleans. The space was more beautiful than in than the photos! The moment we entered the space it was magical, from the amazing large bar to the tables and decor with the great lighting highlighting everything. We started with 3 cocktails and we all really enjoyed them. We then had several small plates including mussels, fish dip and the corn shrimp salad. We then had the gulf fish, scallops and short ribs. For dessert, we shared the creme brule and homemade ice cream . The food was just amazing! You could really tell it was all made in-house. We had such a great experience there, we decided to have our last dinner at Vessel. Again, everything was superb! We will be recommending Vessel to all our friends.
Pretty cool place! Great place to get together with friends but also awesome for date night. Very unique and worth a visit. It’ll be one of those gems in Nola you recommend.
We had a reservation for 10:15 PM on New Years Eve and arrived at 10:00. The hostess told us we would be seated closer to 10:15 so we headed to wait by the bar. We were not seated until 11:00, and our waitress did not come to greet us or take our order until 11:15. When we went to order off the prix fixe menu, she informed us that several options were sold out. I felt genuinely poorly for the server and the hostess, both of whom were gracious and seemed embarrassed by the restaurant's inability to handle its NYE reservations; however, this is totally unacceptable for a restaurant that not only was offering a $75 meal, but also charged a $50 cancellation fee per person. I asked to speak to the manager, but he was so overwhelmed by attending to other frustrated that guests that I never got a chance to speak with him. I would have pressed further, but my dining companion felt ill (to be clear, I do not think his illness was in any way related to the food at the restaurant), so we chose to leave before receiving all of our courses. The food we did get to sample was quite tasty, and I don't think it would be fair to fault the waitstaff for what was clearly a management problem, but I will never go back to this restaurant. Unfortunate, as I've been before and enjoyed it, but it is baffling that Vessel did not proactively offer anything (comp'ed wine, percentage off the bill, etc.) to diners that waited over an hour after a reservation to be seated and then were offered only a fraction of the advertised prix fixe menu.
After speaking with the owner of Vessel, I know he is serious about making a dining experience pleasant to customers. He ensures to deliver the high quality of restaurant service to meet customers' expectations. Vessel is a restaurant that is worth visiting when you pay a visit to New Orleans.
Enjoyed the special fixed price New Years Eve menu. All the food was delicious. Servers were a bit overwhelmed but overall was a good time
Great New Years celebration. Really fun and intimate and off beaten track
I would recommend this place for the ambience and the food. Service is a bit slow and unprofessional. But I'd still go if you're looking for a unique experience with a solid menu.
I’ve been to Vessel three times now and have always had a fantastic experience. The food and cocktails are delicious and the service is great.
Food was good- proteins well-seasoned, sides delicious. Salads are bland thought (seems only to have oil on the crispy poached egg salad- no flavor on the greens at all). The service was not so great. We we shown to a dirty table (hostess wiped it but...), no one came to greet us or offer water for 20 min. We waited another 10 for our drinks and water. Once we got going service was fine. Our server was a lovely person- chalk it up to a busy night in the restaurant. I will give it another go.
Very unique restaurant. Great atmosphere and tasty food. Great find away from the French Quarters.
