The service was great and brunch was outstanding. We will definitely go back.
Food was great. Portions small.
The lamb bolognese was delicious! The venue is beautiful. Very good craft cocktails.
I had been to Vessel once before but only to get a drink with friends. This time, I came for a dinner with my son. Drinks took quite a while to come to us. The first drink my son ordered was not available for some reason. We ordered a fish dip appetizer, he had short ribs and I ordered the burger. We waited and waited for the appetizer and finally, I called the server over to ask what had happened to it. She went to check and came back with it. Within only a few minutes, both of our main courses arrived. My son had not even tried the appetizer at that point. He ordered a glass of wine and I ordered another cocktail, a Negroni. When the server brought the drink, she apologized saying that the bartender did not have the correct glass in which to serve it so it was in a "rocks" glass and it had quite a chunk of ice in it. Considering that the first Negroni was served so differently and correctly, I wondered if the same person had made the second drink. The food was ok. My hamburger was cooked well but I was surprised to find that it was 2 patties together. My son said his short ribs were a bit dry. Vessel is a lovely place inside and so nice that a place like that is in Mid City. However, I am not sure I would go back except for drinks.
My wife and I were given a gift certificate to Vessell's and thought it would be a great place to celebrate our 48th anniversary. We did not know what to expect since we have never been to this restaurant prior to tonight.
We stood at the door for about 5 minutes before being acknowledged. It appeared to me that only one server was on duty at the time. The server found our reservation and wished us a happy anniversary and led us to a table. We sat for about 10-12 minutes before she came back and took a drink order. Since it was our anniversary we ordered two glasses of champagne. Another 10 minutes went by and when she returned she brought the wrong order. Didn't seem all that difficult of an order to me but apparently it was too much for her.
The most positive part of the evening was the food. It was outstanding.
I was disappointed that the restaurant did not offer anything for our anniversary especially in light of the fact that when I made the reservation I was asked if we would be celebrating a special event.
All in all an adequate evening but not a place that I will be going back to.
Since this restaurant is in a beautiful old church, it is the perfect place for Sunday brunch. We started with an appetizer of rosemary garlic brown butter fries with a bloody Mary. (These fries are amazing. You have to try them.) My husband had the waffle with caramel and mascarpone creme, which he said was delicious. I had the shrimp and grits, which are the best I've had anywhere in New Orleans. The server was excellent.
Beautiful surrounding! Waitress was very good, appetizer came out very slow and only minutes before food. Believe it was because we arrived at opening for brunch. Great prices for size of plates!
Our evening meal at Vessel NOLA was a choice to get out of the main touristy hustle and bustle. It’s unique atmosphere and affordably priced menu options made for a fun and memorable dinner during our short visit to the city. My husband went for the risotto which he enjoyed - rich and creamy with the perfect balance of flavors and textures. He generally goes for spicy foods so his compliments on this milder dish is really saying something.
Now onto the burgers which our friend and I both ordered...... first let me say that the moment I see that a place uses brioche buns for their burgers it’s a complete turn-off. They were ok when the trend first started, but now everyone and their brother is doing them and the sweet, eggy, and often times tough and chewy roll has just worn out its appeal. Having said that, the bun on Vessel’s burger is not that type of brioche bun. It has a perfect light crumb and the flavor rounds out the overall flavor profile rather than just serving as housing for the meat and toppings. The meat and toppings: look, there’s no to say it but to just say it.... of all the “best burger in Nola” lists there are, none of any of those come close to Vessel’s burger. Every element of every bite makes for a flavor composition that is indescribable. There are times when making a food discovery poses a tough dilemma - the food is so amazingly good that you want to tell the world, but on the other hand you want to keep it secret because when the rest of the world finds out, next thing you know you have to make reservations weeks in advance and it becomes a tourist trap. This place is that discovery, and that burger is that dish. The only thing that made the burger even better was the fries. Thinly cut, delicately crispy, but light and potato-y inside. Hands down the best burger and fries I’ve ever had. Seriously. Life. Changing. Both of these dishes in the unique
The food and cocktails were top notch. The waitress was helpful and friendly.
Neat place. Located in an old church. Food was very good. Service was great. Drinks and wine were very good too.
There was no hostess to greet us when we walked in. Another couple and my date and I waited for several minutes before searching for someone to help us. It seemed like a slow night and both parties were told to sit wherever we pleased (even though we had reservations).
The table service was good--quick, timely, polite, knowledgeable. Our cocktails were fantastic. The Pork Porterhouse and rosemary fries were delicious. Did not care for the Crawfish Tagliatelle.
Not sure if this is the vibe Vessel is going for... But in the end, I felt more like I was at a high-end bar that served fancy food.
Forgot salad dressings on two salads
Awesome spot, really glad we took the time to get there. Very creative menu, the food was delicious. Great cocktail list. A touch overpriced, but a unique experience.
Great place. Just know when you make a reservation, you really don’t get a table unless you specify. We were told only tall tables were available with reservations, if you don’t request. Still had a wait to get our table
Can't give much of a review because we never received our food! Service was retched. We ordered drinks and appetizers. Had to ask for plates twice. Asked for more bread, never received it. Had to ask twice for cream for a coffee. Waited and hour and fifteen minutes before enquiring about our meal. We were told "the kithen is backed up, it's coming very soon." Then we noticed a table of eight who came in 30 minutes after us received their meals! Asked for the manager. He never came over. The waitress finally came back and said the kitchen messed up but they were making us some complementary appetizers. We wanted our meals not appetizers and they were making us apps we had no interest in eating! We said no, give us our bill. A man came over with the bill and apologized and admitted the kitchen lost our ticket. No idea if he was the manager or not. He made a big deal that they discounted the apps, but looking at the bill they discounted three items for $6.15, $1.80 and 75 cents! Woopie...way to rectify the situation! So I give my credit card and it takes another 10 minutes for them to bring it back! Hey, mistakes happen. It's how you handle the mistake that counts and Vessel dropped the ball on all counts. The waitress was worthless and should have followed up on our meals. The management response was half-assed and insincere. We were in town for Tulane Graduation...you can be assured this negative review will be posted on the Tulane Parent's facebook page.
Great food, awesome service, fantastic atmosphere. You must try the Shrimp & Grits. It's delicious!
The food was good but a bit pricey for the quality. We ordered around the menu to get a variety of things to try. The short rib was the last dish we had. Was disappointed when it was completely covered in a bitter green salad mix. By the time we dug all the Greens out of the dish it was a bit cold. No need to almost ruin a dish with a garnish. Other than that all in all we had a fantastic meal and experience. The cocktails were amazing, and the service was amazing also.
Our last evening out after Jazz Fest NOLA. Vessel was great for winding down with a signature cocktail and excellent dining. Quiet (converted church), inviting inside, and the windows light up w/the early evening sun. A nice break from the French Quarter craziness. Enjoy.
Favorite Bloody Mary's in the city! Great atmosphere, gorgeous building!
Fantastic brunch!! Beautiful location and really great Sunday brunch!
Amazing space, great menu and a delicious meal. Much more than just a drink spot.
Very comfortable and friendly staff. The bartenders are very sweet and intelligent. The pork porterhouse was worth any trip. The pickle plate was pretty sour and not a standout. The bread pudding had quite a cinnamon taste and is delicious. Well balanced.
This was our favorite meal and experience in NOLA- this place is a GEM! It is absolutely beatiful inside and the food was affordable and excellent. You can tell that the chef put a lot of love and soul into the menu. This is a must!
Our meal was mediocre and the service was terrible. Very disappointed because the building is magnificent and with a great chef and management this could be a standout
Out of town friend
I don't want to write a review but if I don't you don't get the rest of the survey
Brunch was excellent. The food was delicious and plentiful and the prices were very reasonable. Our waiter was attentive, got everything right, and it didn't take forever. The whole staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our time tremendously.
Visiting from Detroit, Vessel looked like a twin of our favorite restaurant back home - a place called the Clarkston Union. Old church turned into a restaurant...large drink menu...slightly eclectic menu... It delivered on everything we were hoping for. Crawfish and porkbelly apps, braised beef and crawfish pasta main dishes were all outstanding. Our waiter was awesome as well. The only negative I could mention is that it was FREEZING in there when we went on a Saturday night. But the food, ambiance, waiter and drinks were all on point.
Sub par. Not recommended.
Delicious with wonderful service!!!
Returned to this beautiful building for a bite to eat. Vessel didnt disappoint. The bartenders impressed with their knowledge and craft. I could have been more adventurous with thier large list of cocktails, but the Corpse Reviver demanded a second try. The Crawfish Croquettes were awesome. The Shortrib was amazingly tender and flavorful. I will definitely be back for more!
Very slow and inattentive service. Brunch menu not very distinctive with few choices. Shockingly the shrimp in the shrimp and grits were clearly frozen (frozen shrimp in New Orleans - really?) Crawfish frittata good, bread Pucci got very good. Overall, this unique and historic location deserves significantly better overall performance.
disappointing, for sure. the $20 sparkling special was a plus, but aside from that, i likely won't go back. service was fairly slow. portions were a little sad, the frittata was tiny and left me hungry. the benedict was the same, i'd say. like i said, we were still hungry -- so we ordered the chocolate cake... which was the best thing we had at brunch...
Great service and atmosphere. The crawfish croquettes were amazing. I really wanted to order a second order of them and should of. The smoke fish dip while not as great as peche was also good. I was satisfied with a small plate of rabbit risotto after the appetizers. Others who ordered larger plates could finish them.
Restaurant was empty and bartender told us to sit anywhere. Then server came out and moved us to a different table. Food was not impressive at all & overpriced. Food was served to us silently - no description. Beautiful venue.
Was my first time here after a high recommendation from a friend. I went for sunday brunch and was thouroughly impressed with everything. They've created a unique setting unlike anywhere else i've eaten, and the food definitely matches the architecture. It was one of the best brunch meals i've ever had, and I'm a huge brunch fan. Delicious bottomless fresh coffee, eggs benedict, mushroom corn grit fricasse, and waffles were a great choice. Reasonable portions and pricing as well. Can't wait to go back and try for dinner!
We got there about 10:28 on a Sunday and I didn't realize they opened at 1030. Once we were seated all was good, it's beautiful on the inside, and a unique space. We ordered classic breakfast and the waffle, both were very good! The waffle was just a wonderful blend of all the different things! I appreciated that there is a parking lot for our friends who met us there with a child.
Food is overpriced for the amount you get and it wasn't a "wow this is delicious!" taste. Nothing special about the menu even though it sounds gourmet. I was very disappointed for my friends birthday dinner.
I loved it! The ambiance, menu variety, uniqueness, and exceptional food quality resulted in an amazing experience. Top it off with great service and Vessel is a real winner!!
