it took them almost 45 minutes to get our food and by that point i was over it but the food was definitely worth the wait.
Loved it. It was my 3rd visit and I'm sure it will not be my last.
The food was unique, fresh and tasty! Definitely recommend the waffles! The wait staff was extremely accommodating to our large party and polite! We would definitely return!
Great cocktails and service! Nice vibe, quiet, beautiful interior.
Mindy, We appreciate you coming to Vessel NOLA. So glad you enjoyed our service and great cocktails. Without wonderful patrons like you, we would not be able to stay open. As I said, we appreciate you coming and we look forward to you coming back. Take care, Robert Chilton, Jr. General Manager
Don’t settle for sitting outside! There are better brunch/breakfast spots in New Orleans. Bad service but really good food. They keep their dumpster right near the outdoor seating so flies are everywhere. The hostess was unbelievably rude to the couple in front of us and was extremely annoyed to help us. We had reservations for outside but the place was completely empty but no inside seating available “until 11AM” but when we left there was plenty of inside seating still available. Just poorly managed. A lot of potential but better places to go.
We are sorry you had a bad experience. Many staff members are new. We as all other restaurants are very short staffed struggling to find workers. People prefer to stay home and collect free money and benefits. The dumpster is enclosed outside the patio and you sat far from it. Before anyone writes a bad review, please think about the good people that are hurt who are wiling to work to feed their families. I urge everyone everyone to have compassion in these difficult times. Alec Wilder Owner
SUPER COLD AND LOUD with interesting decor and VERY MEDIOCRE FOOD, especially for New Orleans. I’m from here (NOLA), and was excited to dine at Vessel. It’s a better place to get a drink - don’t bother ordering food, but be sure to wear your parka in summer, that is. The AC is blasting so hard that my male dinner partner, who wore a button down shirt had to roll the sleeves all the way down (they were rolled up when we walked in), suggested that we leave because we were so cold. He is never cold normally! One of the items we ordered never arrived, but the food was so mediocre and the AC was so cold, that we left without waiting for the kitchen to make the dish they forgot to bring. Good drinks. Good decor. Very loud. Intolerably cold. Had to leave early to warm up.
We are a popular place. Our thermostat is set to 72 and cannot go below. People tell us they are too hot. You ordered 2 dishes and to judge any place based on this is unfair. Everyone has different tastes and I am are sure you would find many things on our menu to you liking. Everything is made from scratch to order using the highest quality locally sourced ingredients. We are short staffed due to people staying home to collect the governments free money. The majority of our reviews are 5 star.
My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Vessel! it was perfect! from the hostess when we walked in, until our dinner was over! drinks where very good, food delicious, ambiance wonderful. not to mention the restaurant is gorgeous! it was a prefect evening!
Hi, Thank you so much for your kind words. Your sincerity and kindness means so much to all of us. We as other restaurants have had a very difficult time during the last year and a half and when you took the time to write this, it is extra special. Enjoy the rest of your summer and we look forward to seeing you again. SIncerely, Alec Wilder Owner
Loved the atmosphere. The service was great. The food was average. I’ll definitely return for the happy hour.
Hidden in Plain Site is what comes to mind about this place! It is a restored cathedral with beautiful stained windows. It is snuggled inside of a neighborhood and is a great location! The only downside of this place is the 2 top seating. It appears to be one of those last minute additions that places you in the direct walk way of every person who comes through the door. Prior to COVID this would not have been so bothersome.
Occasion: After work Happy Hour
Drink: French 75 (with Hendrix) 10/10
OMG this is BY FAR the BEST French 75 I have ever had. It is light and refreshing. It has the perfect balance of citrus, Champagne and Gin! (Note this drink made with Hendrix is NOT a part of the happy hour menu)
Appetizers: 3.6/10 Overall
Crawfish Croquettes 7/10
These were actually not bad at all. They have a good balance of breading and filling. I really enjoyed the heat in them, it is not a pallet dominating heat rather it comes on the end of the tasting. Its not super spicy it truly a great balance.
Rosemary Brown Butter Fries with Maison Sauce 0/10
I am unsure of who decided to name this dish BUT they should have just put "french fries" There are no hints of rosemary or brown butter in them. I am unsure of there was a sauce that was supposed to be drizzled on it but these were just REGULAR fries. The Maison dipping sauce was actually the only flavor in the dish. I have to say very disappointing.
Fried Brussels Sprouts: 4/10
Ugh this was so unfortunate because I love Love LOVES me some brussels sprouts. It honestly seems like they literally just fried them in oil. THATS IT! Now I am a fan of simple flavors but this was a little too simple.
Hi, Thanks so much for writing such an extensive review. We know everyone has different tastes and not everything on any menu will be of their liking at any restaurant. All of our menu items at Vessel are made from scratch to order from the highest quality fresh local ingredients available. You came for happy hour and ordered 3 appetizers and I am sure you would find many other items that would like. Thanks again for your feedback and we hope to see you soon at Vessel. Alec Wilder Owner
Food was delicious.. drinks were good. We will be back.
Brought friends with me to eat at this beautiful place. The staff was friendly. We tried a multitude of different cocktails and enjoyed each one. The Paloma was our favorite. We all ordered the Airline chicken and it was delicious. You can’t go wrong eating here.
Great vegetarian options!!! The venue is beautiful and unique. Maria, our waitress, made the visit perfect.
We strive to accommodate to everyone's dietary needs. Thank you for coming and we hope you will return again to enjoy our vegetarian options. -Robert Chilton, Jr. General Manager
We had tried Vessel about 3 years ago and didn't have a good service experience, but we decided to give it another try. We're taking COVID-19 into consideration here, but we've eaten at many Nola restaurants lately, and all of the others hustled with limited staff. Vessel was accommodating over the phone when we increased our party size by 4 people the day before.
However, our table of 9 people all agreed that they don't expect to return to Vessel. For the price of the drinks and food, we expected better service. It took 20 minutes to get a drink, and maybe 40 after that for our entrees. We were there from 5-7:30pm. The first half hour, we ordered drinks and apps. The food was really good, but I don't think we'll go back to Vessel.
We are sorry we are shorted staffed due to enhanced government unemployment as are other restaurants. When you came in, 5 people called in sick. People prefer to stay home and collect the free money and benefits. We are doing our best but sometimes things are not as we want them to be. We created a gorgeous place and our goal is to give the best service and food possible. We are trying our best trying to find employees and train them. We do hope you give us another try. I ate, drank and congregated in this old church made restaurant. Mussels are great!
Aren't the mussels just delicious. Not too much broth, just right. Thanks for the great review. Take care, we look forward to you coming back to...eat, drink, and congregate. -Robert Chilton, Jr. General Manager
Everything was top notch! Service was amazing! Food was impeccable and the wine was so good! They made my mother’s birthday very special! 10 stars!
Thank you for your wonderful review. We are so glad she had a very special birthday. Come back and see us. -Robert Chilton, Jr. General Manager
Lovely venue in a quiet neighborhood. Tasty and interesting menu. Very attentive service. We would go back again.
Really great food, cocktails & service. I really enjoyed the pork belly appetizer.
The scallops were good, the risotto was a little salty. The interior was cool to see. I would sit at the bar next time. I dined outdoor for my meal.
Restaurants everywhere are struggling to get their teams back as we recover from COVID. The restaurant team at Vessel was working hard to keep up and did a great job with the food. Great presentations- quality & taste. We were with family and enjoyed being together enjoying the atmosphere & had a lovely experience!
More good times ahead.
Excellent drinks. Cool vibe. Food has a rustic vibe. A nice neighborhood joint. We love coming here for happy hour.
The ambiance and drinks were good. The wait for our food was over an hour. During that time we had to ask for extra bread for our cheese board on three separate occasions. The food was not great. The fettuccine noodles were so dense and seemed undercooked. My husband’s steak was extremely over cooked and the potatoes were burned. I could go on about the negativity about the food. First time eating here and will not go back.
We are sorry we are shorted staffed due to enhanced unemployment like other restaurants. We had 5 staff member call in sick. The management was not aware of your issues. We are doing our best but things can go wrong. We are all human and I am sure no one wants to be reviewed when things do not go the way we want them to. This hurts the good people who are willing to work who depend on this income to support their families. We hope people will be more understanding until people go back to work.
Loved the church, cool place to eat. I did not like the cheese plate, but my husband enjoyed his burger.
We arrived to our reservation 30 minutes earlier and they sit us without complaining. The food is amazing.
The food was good and the outdoor patio was nice, the only complaint is that our drinks took a while and arrived after our appetizers. Also, food runners kept trying to give us food we didn't order (ex: food for someone else's table). There seemed to be a bit of ordering confusion.
I love it here. The ambience can't be beat and everything is always on point.
The whole experience could have been better. We were seated at a tall table top, even though I asked if we could be accommodated at a regular table. I was told, no, there wasn’t anything available. I expected the place to then be fully filled by the time we left as there were several tables that would have worked for us, they remained totally clear for our whole dining experience. The server was friendly and helpful. She made sure our water was always filled and helped with anything we may have needed. The biscuits and gravy were delicious, as was the waffle. The burger was over cooked and lacked flavor. The fries were good. I did appreciate all the effort that had been put into rehabilitating this lovely old church. I doubt we will return.
I read the reply that I booked a table outside, this is not true. We were directly were escorted to the tall table INSIDE. I did not ask to sit inside or give any info to the hostess other than my name. She walked us to the tall table INSIDE. I asked if we could sit at one of the regular tables, she said no. There were many. She then stated she could seat us outside. We declined as it had been stormy and this why we also did not book a table outside.
We are sorry your did not like your table. You originally booked for outdoors and you decided you wanted indoors so we sat you at the table that was available for 6 people. The other tables were reserved but unfortunately they did not show up. We were also not made aware there was anything wrong with your food. We would have fixed it for you. We do hope you give us another try. Alec Wilder Owner
We loved every bite of our dinner at Vessel! A wonderful place for a friends’ get-together!
We were very disappointed in the steak chimichurri, especially at the price point.
Hi, We're sorry you didn't enjoy the Steak Chimichurri. We would have been happy to get you something else you would enjoy more. I apologize you feel we are not priced appropriately. Cost of supplies and products are higher than they were pre-pandemic due to issues with supply lines. We are doing our best post pandemic to navigate our hospitality business in a stressful and trying time. Thank you. -Chef
Loved it! What a fabulous interior, the food delish, and the service impeccable! I will be back!
Vessel is always our first stop when we come back to New Orleans. It is always amazing with some of the best food and drink anywhere. Their appetizer fish dip and Scallop entree are amazing. I loved the new cocktails I tried.. I will be back!
Came here to have a quick lunch to entertain a client. We had some cocktails, a cauliflower appetizer, and got a blt and a caprese respectively. The bread on these sandwiches was delicious. Everything was delicious! I will be back.
the food was cold when delivered. hard risotto and cold scallops. definitely not worth how much money they asked. burger was cold too.
Hi Lori, I would have been happy to remake your items for you had we known immediately there were issues with your risotto being hard. I know we offered you a complimentary dessert once we were alerted of the issues with your food after the meal. Cost of supplies and products are higher than they were pre-pandemic due to issues with supply lines. We are doing our best post pandemic to navigate our hospitality business in a stressful and trying time. -Chef
The food was average and the portions for several of the meals were small(5 guests). The cheese plater was way over priced for the serving of cheeses on the platter.

Nice restaurant, BUT service was uneven, and a pretty limited menu.
We came for a last minute date night. We had the scallop risotto with Brussels sprouts side, the pork belly, and shared a turtle cheesecake.
I recommend the Spanish Inquisition if you like tequila as well. Great cocktails, tasty food. It was a little busy, but management checked on us, and assured us we were in good hands.
Some of the worst service I have had in New Orleans. Brought my father in law here, and very much regret it. The waiter made so many mistakes, I can't name them all, but we won't be back, and we have not had a bad experience here before that night.
We are sorry about your experience. We as other restaurants are struggling to find qualified workers but unfortunately it is very difficult due to enhanced unemployment given by the government. People would rather stay home than work. We are trying our best each day and hope the public will understand sometimes things can go wrong. I personally have been to many restaurants recently and had similar experiences. Alec Wilder Owner
Salad appetizer was very good, but the Tumeric Airline Chicken entree was not cooked on the inside around the bone!
Hi Robert, I apologize about the issue with the chicken being under done at the wing bone. We do use temp our chicken breast with a thermometer to ensure it is cooked through. I will use this as a teaching moment to test it closer to the bone. I do see that our foh management staff offered you a discount on a portion of the entrée for the issue. Thank you for your feedback. Chef Amandalynn
This was a great experience. Enjoyed the pork belly, wasn’t too fatty, just right. We also had the turmeric chicken and the Mediterranean burger, both were delicious. The staff was friendly and we never ran out of drinks. Job well done. We will be back.
Beautiful atmosphere, great service, delicious cocktails and food! One of a kind restaurant in New Orleans.
Great experience! Awesome food and atmosphere! It's so beautiful in the inside and super friendly staff!
