Chef and Pâtissiere Arshiya’s passion to explore good food led her to spend over a year in Paris, training and working in the culinary capital while refining her skills. In Paris, Arshiya trained at the Ferrandi School of Culinary Arts, then worked at the Le Meurice Hotel and at the Arnaud Delmontel Boulanger Pâtissier Traiteur, to bring the most authentic and flavorful French delicacies to Chicago’s Lincoln Park.

At Verzênay, we are devoted to make delicious chef crafted baked goods and desserts. Our mission is to provide customers with products that are the best in taste and quality, using locally and sustainably sourced ingredients. We value our direct relationships with farmers as we are part of the Green City market community. This gives us the ability to use great tasting ingredients.

Arshiya and her husband Aqeel started their small business in January 2014—selling at Green City Market and supplying to hotels and coffee shops, and opened their first store in July 2021.

I made reservations for the tea event on mothers day and it was great! We arrived a little early and had a cup of coffee while we waited. We were able to sit early and enjoy our coffee before the food. The portions offered were good sized and everything was delicious! We enjoyed the little desserts and the cucumber sandwiches. Honestly, we would gladly sign up again for another event!
