Stellar dining experience on our first visit! Exceptional service, delicious cocktails and amazing food. Highly recommend!
Seems overly hyped - likely because of the main restaurant (which is better IMO). Many of the plates were over salted. The server asked us if we had any dietary restrictions and then forgot what we said. However, presentation was beautiful and the restaurant had an a nice ambiance.
We went to Vernick Fish on its first weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. Everything was top notch, from the delicious food to the stylish decor. Standout dishes included the fresh oysters, beignets with spicy clam ragout, grilled harissa shrimp, blackened fluke and peach tart. Although the vibe was energetic, it was quiet enough to carry on a conversation. The service was generally good but inconsistent. A nearby celebrity received lots of attention and preferential treatment to our detriment. We will definitely return when things have settled down a bit.
My Chirria bowl was very salty and that is unusual for me because I love salt on everything.
The staff and serve was exceptional, but very disappointed with my lunch.
Excellent addition to the booming Philly restaurant scene. Great food and service. The fish/seafood dishes are top-notch andof course, must try their desserts!
Lunch was fabulous. We had miso salmon salad with crispy rice, octopus salad, raw scallops, and some oysters. Wow. Really delicious. Almost forgot keylime pie for dessert. Burp. 😋 Pricey, but well worth it.
Need expanded draft beer selection. Thanks. Tom
Lunch at Vernick Fish on a Friday was very enjoyable. The decor is chic and understated. The service and food were excellent. My friends and I plan to go there again. It is a beautiful and welcome addition to Philadelphia's restaurant scene.
The Sea Bass and Salmon salads were beyond incredible! Service was prompt and impeccable. The neighborhood needs this restaurant!
The salmon rice salad was delicious, I really liked the concept of the fried rice mixed with some sort of vegetable. Portion size was definitely up to par with price, so I was happy to meet the price for the lunch. My only hesitation on providing 5 stars across the board was that I felt the salmon miso glaze had too much salt in it. It is only week one and hopefully this was more of a fluke, but I know that great things will come out of this restaurant in the future. Can't wait to go back and try the awesome looking cocktails (there was a pink one that looking extra exciting).
Fantastic addition to the Philly. Great space, food is amazing and the staff is attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Sets a new standard !
Another stellar experience from the Vernick crew. Everything is perfect!
The bar, food, service , and ambiance were excellent. Our favorite starter was the squid pad-thai, our favorite entree was the porgy in creole stock. Sam provided an excellent Manhattan night-cap at the bar. We will be sure to return soon,
Exceptional food and experience
2nd day officially open. Menu outstanding . Vernick is a home run.
Absolutely Awesome No Other Words To Explain How Great The Food Was
We thought Vernick Fish was fabulous. The decor and environment is unique in Philadelphia, with a simple grace and grandeur of a classic french oyster bar. One feels the need of a seafood tower...but that would be silly because the whole menu is so very good. The major standout in my mind was the raw fluke in brown butter, but we had about 6 dishes and they were all wonderful. The noise level was refreshingly tolerable for Philadelphia...impressive that they were able to baffle those high ceilings. The only slightly dropped ball was in service...we had small amounts of smeared or dropped food at our place setting at least twice that we eventually wiped away with our own napkins, despite at least two service people coming and going and leaving it there. Other than that, the service was attentive, friendly, and professional. Short version...setting is beautiful, food is out of the park, and regarding "would I recommend it to a friend?" I already have.
Top five restaurant in Philly.
It’s everything you want in a restaurant. Food was amazing. It was fancy, yet casual. Service was top notch. Simply spectacular! Can’t wait to go back
Excellent lunch, gracious service in a welcoming space. Can’t wait to return to sample more items.
The food is spectacular
Wonderful addition to Greg Vernick's stable of incredible restaurants! Flavors are spectacular!
Enjoyed an excellent meal at Vernick Fish on Saturday night. The food quality, preparation and atmosphere are what you would expect. No doubt will be the next hottest restaurant on the Philly food scene. Looking forward to going back!
Fresh take on a seafood spot in a city that needed it. Great, tasty options. Must try!
Amazing service and food. What a great dining experience!
Vernick Fish was a lovely experience. Not being the largest lover of fish, they completely turned everything around and made many delectable dishes that, even as a non fish lover, I thoroughly enjoyed! I would highly recommend this place.
Vernick Fish was amazing. Our server was wonderful. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and very friendly. Rest of the staff were all very professional and attentive, including the hosts and the support staff. Food was inventive, delicious, filling, and reasonably priced. The ambiance was also very impressive. Attention to detail was incredible. I would recommend Vernick Fish to everyone.
Amazing food, wonderful service. Can't wait to go back
the service needs more work. more white wines under $70.
the fried clams need more work, too much breading and a bit overcooked
the fried clams at samson st are better,
the mussels and squid pad thai are great.
the bread is good.
the eggplant was disappointing.
the avocado with the shrimp is wondderful
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed Vernick Fish. The food exceeded our expectations which were high to begin with. Every dish was excellent including the lobster cups, the scallops, and the uni and caviar on french toast. We will definitely be back.
We were fortunate to be part of the soft opening and dined with very close friends. The atmosphere is great, the service is most attentive, and the food was terrific.
The food here is amazing. I had the scallop tartare and my tablesmates also had the beef tartare. We all shared the shrimp cocktail. All were well received. We all shared each other's mains. I got the sea bass and my tablesmates got the tilefish and shrimp. The tilefish was my favorite of the fish but the sauce on the sea bass was my favorite sauce.
For dessert I had the peach tart. It was perfect. In fact, one of my favorite parts of the meal. I was here for my birthday and they put a candle on the plate and a chocolate "Happy Birthday" treat.
Service was good. I personally felt the staff seemed nervous but I'm sure that will get better over time. I almost felt a little too fussed over, but everyone was courteous and helpful.
everything was amazing - the food, the service, the cocktails, dessert drink menu etc. - went 2 days in a row!
Amazing experience. The Vernick franchise is thriving.
Great service! The food, as always, perfectly executed. And it was a real treat to sit at the chef counter and watch the action. What a great addition to the Philadelphia dining scene!
This was a top 3 meal for me. Incredible. I'm still talking about the tile fish broth three days later.
Loved it!! Beautifully decorated and the food knocked it out of the park! Had lobster lettuce cups, endive salad, half & half chowder, oysters, and the surf clam salad to start. The lobster was a bit firm but everything was delicious. Then we had the tile fish, trout blt, crab & corn scramble, salmon salad with crispy rice, tomato salad, salt & vinegar potatoes, and the mushrooms. Wow! Fantastic! Finally for dessert we shared the tres leches, peach tart, chocolate torte, and the key lime pie. All were wonderful but if I had to pick a favorite it would be the key lime. My only suggestion would be to list the black sesame that's in the peach tart on the menu because we didn't know what it was and had to ask. Cant wait to plan my next trip back.
Best seafood that I ever had! Service was great too!
