The takeaway area includes open seating for up to 48 guests, an excellent walk-in destination for all day dining. Vernick Coffee Bar is open Monday-Friday.
The food and service were wonderful. The room felt welcoming until... the woman who sat next to us and had her son take photos of herself snd the food while criticizing the results!! Then talking on about things she liked or didn’t it about Vernick!s original and whether it is too small. Yikes! There is more but I’ll stop. Just wish people were not so childishly egocentric. This is shared space!
I am surprised to tell you that the pastry could use a little attention. The apple tart would benefit from a different crust. I had a pastry from take out that was not edible. Shocked by that. Not all pastry needs tweaking -- the carrot cake pie was good. Cookies were good. Croissant was good.
Other than that, love the place and every other item - have been a few times now, so have experienced a lot on the menu (sharing with my table). Staff is excellently trained and execute with kindness.
This is our favorite place for brunch/lunch in center city. Food is delicious, especially dessert ( carrot cake pie, cookies are beyond yummie!), and service is warm, attentive and simply outstanding! We were celebrating my daughter’s graduation from college— her grandmother mentioned how proud she was of all her accolades. Our server spontaneously assembled an amazing array of desserts for us ! So delicious and sweet.
And the setting in the Comcast bldg is spectacular! The best of Philly!
Excellent service and amazing food and presentation. The beautiful lobby of the new Comcast Center is just the cherry on top.
Delicious food in a beautiful space. Menu and service excellent
Absolutely excellent dining experience! My son enjoyed his birthday lunch and he is a very picky eater.
Will definitely recommend this place and will return for sure.
Delightful experience. Second time visited and still find it perfect in every way. Would like to see a few more dishes added to the menu. Other than that, I wouldn't mess with perfection.
The food, coffee, and chai latte are incredible. The oatmeal soufflé, eggs in purgatory, romaine salad, and carrot cake are stand out dishes, but everything is fantastic. Excellent service. The staff is friendly and very attentive. I highly recommend Vernick Coffee Bar.
Amazing food in a lovely setting
A beautiful setting with great food!
Top notch just like the main restaurant. Look forward to Fish!
I hesitate to recommend it only because I don't want it to get crowded! This is a GREAT addition to the neighborhood. I have been there several times for lunch and twice for breakfast. The food is perfect...only a few selections, perfectly prepared with a light and deft touch. The space is light and soaring and it is possible to actually have a conversation with your dining partners. I have used it mostly for professional entertaining, and it is perfect for that. I also wouldn't hesitate to meet a friend there. I am very very glad to have this option. I'm a big fan of Vernick as well..in fact on more than one occasion I have "double Vernicked"
Beautifully prepared, creative food in a very cool setting.
The food was exceptional as was the service. All the details were so very lovely - the napkins, the tea service, the crackers beforehand. We enjoyed it thoroughly!
A real gem in the new Comcast building. Great food and wonderful, friendly service. When I asked for a salad dressing recipe, the waitress took my information so that Chef Drew could email me. Several hours later I had the full recipe and explanation in my inbox. Over and above!!!!
This a new favorite lunch spot...don’t be deceived by the name: Vernick Coffee Bar...yes, there is a scrumptious, coffee bar in the large lobby, but this off shoot, with comfortable restaurant seating, has a nice selection of small and medium dishes that go far beyond what you’d see on a coffee bar menu. Everything is delicious. The space is one the best in the city; light, airy, comfortable and contemporary. The new Comcast building adds needed sophistication to our downtown. Can’t wait for Vernick Fish to open below!
What a beautiful setting for nice lunch. It is located on the second floor of the new Comcast building and
the design is outstanding. The lunch menu is limited but very interesting and the service is excellent. It appears that reservations are a must for lunch.
Great food and service, very good spot to do a breakfast or lunch client meeting. Will be back.
A wonderful spot for lunch--and no doubt for breakfast, a late-afternoon snack, and take-out too. The grand entrance to the 2nd floor location, which is visible as a balcony from the lobby, enhances the anticipation of an excellent meal. The double sets of escalators within the cavernous space are stylish visual welcome. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Though the lunch and late afternoon menus are modest is length, there's not a single entry without appeal. The dishes are both creative and intelligently designed, not only for their delicious and occasionally unusual flavors (the turmeric tangerine juice, for example) but for their enticingly bright and colorful appearances and interesting textures. The mushroom and avocado grain bowl with green goddess dressing is a case in point, with its nutty and earthy combination of flavors, the slight chewiness in the grains, and the richly creamy presence of pale green avocado along with the deeply brown mushrooms. The grilled Romaine with cheddar and figs is happily on the menu, too, now that it has departed from the offerings at the original Vernick Food & Drink. But the lovely toasts with their delightful array of toppings, another Food & Drink favorite, can be ordered here too during the latter part of the afternoon once the lunch hour and the lunch menu have passed. This is a fine new addition to daytime dining in Center City.
It's possible to quibble with minor imperfections; the poached eggs in the "eggs in purgatory" were slightly undercooked. But overall our brunch meal was a total winner. The pastries, as always, were delicious. The asparagus with poached egg were excellent.
We've been here for lunch as well as breakfast. So we are also enthusiastic about that menu too.
Except for a minor unattended spill, the service is marvelous, and quite attentive. My second visit was consistent with my first. The oatmeal soufflé is a must. Great salmon plate is wonderful too. The coffee is beyond outstanding.
Comfortable atmosphere to sit and catch up with an old friend and enjoy some new tastes.
I really enjoyed the food, service and experience at Vernick Coffee Bar. I definitely recommend it.
The whole experience of Vernick Coffee Bar is so pleasant! The food is excellent. It is a bright, energetic space with the friendliest staff! I recommend for business and/or a fun breakfast or lunch with friends.
Great food and great coffee. Good for business lunch but servers should be more mindful of timing.
It's always a wonderful experience! A big thank you to the team at Vernick Coffee Bar!
I look forward to having them periodically change their menu to encourage more frequent visits.
Went here for our anniversary lunch, and we were not disappointed. We had a great meal, great drinks, great service.
Wonderful, innovative menu for breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks. Best place in town!
The service was pretentious, and the food was fair. My friend had to send back the salmon salad which was overly salted. The management was very nice about that and replaced it with the shrimp salad which my friend said was good. I got the grilled romaine which was good but not enough for lunch, though I'm a light eater. The space is open and not very intimate. The menu is very limited and they don't offer you the option of ordering any of the delicious bakery items in the adjacent coffee bar. I had the salad and tap water; my friend had a salad and sparkling water. I was hungry when we left and lunch was $40, including tip. Not worth it.
Thank you for your feedback. We take all reviews seriously and have reached out to you via direct message. Hope to hear from you soon. Best, Susan Montenegro Restaurant Manager
Foods were fantastic but the service is beyond wonderful!
Stunning space in the new Comcast Building, excellent, attentive service, very tasty food, beautifully presented. Quiet enough to have a conversation!
Friendly and knowledgeable service with delicious food! I highly recommend the grilled romaine and avocado+grain bowl.
Outstanding service, an elegant space and delicious food made for a memorable brunch experience for my family.
At long last !
We were celebrating 2 birthdays. Service was outstanding
My favorite new stop for a light lunch!
Been at least five times. Always fabulous. Great service, wonderful atmosphere and great food. Hope for those of us who come relatively frequently that there is either a changing menu or a bit more diversity. Thanks, Vernick!!!
The food, service and ambience were wonderful.
The perfect spot for a relaxing civilized lunch. Excellent food, attentive service plus fabulous baked goods & coffee.
