Vernick Coffee Bar
With Vernick Coffee Bar, James Beard award-winning Chef Greg Vernick partners with Four Seasons Hotel at Comcast Center to deliver a modern coffee bar and café as his second venture in Philadelphia. Featuring a takeaway bakery and barista counter along with a full-service 40-seat café, Vernick Coffee Bar serves up a menu of expertly prepared dishes and in-house baked goods all with the high impact, global flavor combinations Chef Vernick has become known for.
Vernick Coffee Bar is situated on the second level of the new Comcast Technology Center and overlooks the tree canopies in the building’s public lobby. Reservations are available in the full-service café for both breakfast and lunch. The takeaway area includes open seating for up to 48 guests, an excellent walk-in destination for all day dining. Vernick Coffee Bar is open Monday-Friday.
Love everything about Vernick! The carrot cake pie!
Lunch: The experience is wonderful. There's a limited but excellent choice of menu selections. Though it's too bad the afternoon toasts can't be ordered as starters. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and engaging when appropriate. As in when suggesting or explaining menu items and throughout the pour over coffee preparation. The room is very handsome and the Saarinen dining chairs may be the most beautiful and comfortable ever.
Reserving a table for a Valentine's Day lunch was a great idea. We were seated right away arriving 10 minutes early for the reservation in a corner table by the glass railing overlooking the lobby. The trees grow up higher than the second level so you could see into the canopy. The dining area is very open but all the wood on the walls limits an echo effect. The chairs were super comfortable and the utensils seemed high quality. Our food had great flavor and came out really quick. The best part was they brought a surprise of two little heart shaped red frosted cookies for me and my fiance!
This is my fourth time. Love it. Excellent, respectful , non-intrusive Service. Great food. Noise level is amazingly low - love it! Room is intimate. What a wonderful addition to the area. Can’t wait to go back.
My favorite lunch spot on the city. Five stars from start to finish.
Beautiful setting with lots of beautiful people. Food was outstanding. Great flavors and well prepared and presented. Best matcha ever.
Very disappointing. The minuscule size of the portions at lunch was ridiculous - food was presented as if it were “precious jewels” rather than real food. The food was merely good rather than great. Service was erratic - overly fussy and elaborate serving of tea, but took 15 minutes to get one piece of multi-grain bread which was necessary to fill up my dining partner who had ordered the ballotine, which was an extremely meager portion, even for lunch, and I think that the price was over $20!!
The only thing that made this lunch passable was the beautiful surroundings - maybe next time I’ll just have a cup of coffee at the breakfast bar and take in the room!
Greg Vernick has done it again. What a special place just above the lobby of the new Comcast building. Lunch was delicious and beautifully served.
My friend and I both had the shrimp/soba/sesame salad which was delicious. I had a cappuccino which was made with whole milk and was the creamiest and possibly the best I've ever had. The place is gorgeous. I was assured that they will be getting their liquor license; I very much wanted a glass of wine.
Absolutely perfect experience in this unique, classy, but comfortable venue, overlooking the tops of the lobby fig trees. Every single person was gracious and knowledgeable - truly Four Seasons' style. Food was creative and beautifully presented. Shared the salmon belly salad and the shrimp/Asian salad; each forkful or chopstickful was interesting, delicious and perfect. Loved the latte with oat milk, creamy and magnificently accommodating my lactose issue. Prices are very fair. Don't miss the perfect croissants....
It's a winner!!!
A pretty, modern spot, with warm and attentive service. And the food is fresh, the menu imaginative, the tastes and textures of each dish both surprising and familiar. The oatmeal soufflé is almost other-wordly (in a good way--part hearty, healthy breakfast, part sinful dessert). The grain bowl delicious. But to go for lunch and not order the miso soup--the dill oil perfectly balances the soy and mushrooms--should be a criminalized. Go--and make reservations if you are going for lunch.
Everything I had at Vernick Coffee is amazing. Beautiful presentation, great food and pleasant atmosphere. The price point is incredible. I honestly feel like I am dining in New York every time I go there. Can’t wait for Vernick Fish to open!
It was cold in the room. Otherwise it was wonderful. Need space heaters
All around great
The venue is bright and welcoming. As usual the food and service were outstanding. We ordered a fruit bowl and pastry basket, ( scone, croissant, and blueberry muffin) for the table. The three of us enjoyed delicious hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and each a delectable entree.
We can’t wait for our next visit to Vernick Coffee.
I have been to Vernick three times since it opened and am going back again next week. Their lunch menu is great.
It is my favorite new daytime spot.
Maybe it was an off day but lunch today was some of the worst service I’ve ever had anywhere.
The coffee bar sits in the lobby of the Comcast Technology center - cool space with bar like sitting or tables . The butternut squash soup is the best I have ever had .. croissants pastry and coffee are out of this world !
I would like to have seen a broader menu. The food is very well prepared but choice is limit3d.
We made a reservation , but we were not seated until 15 minutes after the time . Food was delicious .
Fantastic everything! Food and service are impeccable!
My wife had the oatmeal soufflé and raved about it. I went with the baked goods plate of the day. Blueberry muffin was outstanding. I also purchased three different baked god items to take with me when we left. They were even better than the three daily plate choices. If there was an opportunity, it was it took a while to order our tea/coffee. Both the tea and coffee were excellent. The tea was timed (with a timer on table) so that it was not poured before it was ready. My wife had the table service coffee which she said was out of this world. Definitely going back. Chef Vernick once again nails it.
Disappointed that they could not accomodate my Open Table reward card even though Open Table listed that they could accept it.
An absolutely wonderfully prepared meal and experience. I would highly recommend this establishment
Lunch food was good. Atmosphere disappointing, considering all the hype. Service was far from attentive. Had to ask that crumbs be cleaned from table. Was presented the bill without being asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. Server was either distracted, new or was told to get us out so newcomers could have the table.
The atmosphere is really cool. Very open and airy in the new Comcast building second floor lobby. I went for lunch with a friend. We ordered the short rib and the olive oil poached salmon. Both dishes were vastly overpriced ($22 each, if I recall), overly salty, and just generally disappointing. The short ribs were not fork tender, as you’d expect and were served with a not very savory crushed tomato sauce. The fish was a tiny portion. I mean maybe 5-6 bites. It was served with a boring and super salty fregola pasta salad with raw cherry tomato halves (not tasty with Salmon), and some very delicious but scarce Persian cucumber pieces. The service was excellent except that our waiter kept touching my friend’s arm as he spoke. Not welcome or professional. The dessert, a carrot cake pie, was quite delicious! This is a cute place to have coffee and a pastry. I’d wait to see if the food improves as they get some time under their belt. Looking forward to trying Vernick Fish when it opens. I hope it’s as stellar as the regular Vernick restaurant.
This was our first time at the Coffee Bar. What a great addition to Center City! It has a great view of the lobby of the new Comcast Center. Food was very creative. You can choose between very comfortable seating and being served or picking-up at the counter. Another great Vernick eating establishment.
Meals at Vernick fall under that “omg best thing I ever ate” category and now Vernick Coffee Bar makes it more accessible and casual, but no less delicious and impressive. Happy to be hooked on this gem for morning bites, treats, and the best freaking sit-down lunch offering this city has seen in, well, maybe ever?
Now (Dec 2018) open for breakfast and lunch on weekdays. We had breakfast and LOVED it. Shrimp with polenta was extraordinary and the yogurt parfait with ginger and tropical fruit was delicious. Would go back in a heartbeat! Another time we had just latte and that, too, was very well done!
Limited menu, expertly executed.
What a wonderful space and place. Beautiful finishes and really comfortable seating! And the food.....well, what can one say? It's Vernick and it just doesn't come any better. Everything from soup to nuts is fresh, well prepared and artfully plated. The menu is varied and there is sufficient variety to please every diner. Coffees and teas are specially brewed. It's like an oasis in the middle of the city.
I love Vernick, food is fresh, the flavors and presentation are wonderful, very special place.
The service and the food is absolutely top-notch. My colleague and I had the salmon and it was fabulous. The Miso Soup is divine. I am a HUGE promoter of Vernick Coffee Bar and I have all of my business meetings at this very happening new spot. Nicole was my server along with Kaitlin who was very helpful and they took such good care of our every need. Emma the manager also stopped by to check in on us and she was very helpful explaining some of the amazing dishes. Can't wait for my next amazing meal at Vernick!!!!
Everything here is top notch. My only suggestion would be that they might offer a gluten free cracker along with the regular ones. While gluten free diets are the diet du jour for many, there are people with who truly have a medical need to avoid gluten. It would be thoughtful to accommodate them.
Very much enjoyed a casual, business lunch at Vernick Coffee Bar. Vernick Coffee Bar is light and airy due to the building's soaring ceiling, indoor trees and sculpture, and windows galore.
Every time I go, service is impeccable: polite and attentive. We asked for guidance on the menu, and appreciated the tip re the Spicy Miso (mushroom) Soup, which lived up to the promise of being unforgettable--I have it every time I go! I've now paired my soup with the Shaved Porchetta Sandwich (grilled/pressed like a panini), the Wild Mushroom & Avocado Grain Bowl with vegan green goddess dressing, and the Vegetable "Deep Dish" Focaccia, and each was terrific.
Though it's a small menu, it covers most tastes, particularly with its fresh bakery items, and I've found that they can handle celiac (gluten-free) dining as well as vegan.
Very glad Vernick Coffee Bar has moved into the Logan Square neighborhood, and look forward to my next visit!
Another winner for Greg Vernick and crew! Beautiful decor and attentive professional service. The breakfast menu is limited, but everything tasted was innovative and delicious, and the coffee is outstanding. Try the Smoked Salmon on Toast or Eggs in Purgatory if you're looking for something unusual but rewarding.
Returned for second time in 2 weeks! Outstanding food, service, atmosphere. Unique space...great addition to downtown Philly.
Seriously, this cafe is fantastic. Delicious and creative pastries.. Superb staff.
Great service. Delicious meal - the short ribs were outstanding. Very low noise level. Who could ask for more?
The staff was welcoming, service was impeccable, and the food was absolutely delicious. It was my second visit for lunch. I look forward to enjoying breakfast in the near future.
