I have been to Veritas three times. Great place for a romantic evening and a great place to try unique food creations. Food is good size portions, unique blend of spices and very tasty. Only had one somewhat negative visit when we were seated near the kitchen. We could smell a "fishy smell" coming from the kitchen the whole evening. Make sure you DO NOT get a seat/table near the entrance to the kitchen.
Nice place for coctails or special dinner. Easy to converse. Sunday night was not crowded at all. Food was all good for our party of 6.
On a quite Monday night, the place was empty and yet service was horrible. We waited and waited. The bar people were incompetent, for one example
Good Asian inspired/Asian fusion food; highly recommend- Steak Carpachio, Lobster Bisque, Miso Sea Bass, & Bass cake. Can't go wrong.
The food and ambience were amazing. Probably the best oysters and tartar I've ever had. I want the cookbook :)
The quiet table provided as requested allowed for good conversation with guest, excellent wine and great food. Accordingly, the evening was very enjoyable. The guest was also impressed with the salmon entre and wine. The only suggestion was that the pork rib eye was a bit bland.
Veritas provided a table in a quiet area of the restaurant to allow for conversation with a visiting scientist, as we as excellent fish and scallop dinners. The service was excellent as was the wine and the price was excellent value.
Split two different trio lunches & chef prepared plates beautifully!
The food presentation and service were great however the food was not good at all .
The place definitely has potential but a high ranking is not something that it deserves until the food is seasoned properly even with simple salt and pepper .
I personally had the wagyu steak and it was truly flavorless
I will never eat here again much less recommend this place to any person that I know
The pace at this restaurant is very slow, so don't go there if you are hoping to get done quickly. A 3-course meal is at least 3 hours.
Veritas is the best restaurant in the Bryan-College Station area--with great ambience and an upscale clientele for a college town with 60,000 students!! And we have several really good restaurants in the area.
Chef Tai's menu is eclectic, healthy, sophisticated. His Gazpacho is the best I have ever had. HIs Spicy Tuna Sushi is luscious. His treatment of seafood is delectable--from his Simply Grilled Fish (Redfish last visit) to his various treatments of Sea Bass. We love his Silver Lining Salad.
All in all, we continue to visit Veritas--both for lunch (some great combo dishes on the luncheon menu) and for dinner.
Excellent service. Great food.
Great spot for wine after football game. Good place for adults who went to relax after game but dont want to hang out with college kids
My wife and I were both impressed by the food and presentation. We also thought that our waiter was superb. My wife is not much of a wine drinker, but I though that the selection was outstanding. Five Stars. Also, we both left thourogly satisfied with the portions. The Creme Brulee was maybe the best I have ever had.
The food is absolute delicious We had the signature miso sea bass and it was out of this world, perfectly cooked. Service was excellent, our server was very great.
There is a dearth of fine dining restaurants in this area, but this one will stand up to any one that you would find in Houston or Austin. Our entire experience was wonderful, but if you go, do try the Steak Carpaccio. Incredible! There is an extensive wine selection for those interested in that aspect. It is a great late night place for wine and music on the weekends.
I have dined at Veritas several times, on special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries etc). My dining experience has always been superb. The food is creatively presented and great tasting. The wine selection is extensive and the cocktails are imaginative. The wait staff are very attentive and pleasant. The Chef's menu (omakase) paired with wine selections is a great choice, though expensive. Overall, this is an expensive place to dine, so you do not want to take small/unwilling children there.... I have nothing bad to say about dining at Veritas.
The food was incredible; the music soundtrack was cool and comfortable jazz;the ambiance very romantic.
This is by far the best restaurant in College Station. We make sure to dine there every time we visit our son. High-quality ingredients prepared in an innovative way. Outstanding outcome every time.
Food was good, wait stuff was knowledgeable, friendly and considerate. We were there early in the evening so it was still pretty quiet. By the time we left, the restaurant was very full and it was getting a bit noisier but overall not bad. If I lived there locally, it would probably be a place I would consider for special occasions and nice dinner with friends.
Veritas is one of my all time favorite restaurants. The menu is a bit eclectic, reflecting the creativity of the head chef Tai Lee. Our server, Joshua, always does a fine job. We nearly always choose Veritas for special occasions. I am never disappointed.
great all around with unique food choices and fantastic service, a fantastic addition to college station. server Nick was very accessible and attentive and represented the restaurant very well!
Tried the special 'red fish' today & it was excellent as was their grilled Caesar and dessert!
I had the rib eye and although very tender it didn't have much taste. I received roughly two table spoons of mashed potatoes and about four pieces of asparagus. My wife had the salmon, she thought is was very good.
If I spend $120 to eat it better all be good and plenty of it, not impressed.
Veritas is our favorite restaurant! Always the best service and food.
Very good place for a nice dinner in College Station.
My husband and I were waiting for a call back from a popular upscale restaurant in College Station in order to make a dinner reservation. In the meantime I was able to reserve a table at Veritas through Open Table, which turned out to be a very nice surprise. It was the first time we had dined there and drinks, food, and service were fantastic. The wine list included our favorite California Chardonnay which is a rare find locally.
Our server Johnathan was so helpful and we weren't disappointed with his food suggestions. Go there! And order their Miso Sea Bass--it was delicious. The house salad shouldn't be missed either. Just go there. You are in for a nice surprise.
I went here for a special occasion. I talked it up to my family because we were in town for son's orientation. It was me and my wife's anniversary. We got the four course meal each, wife, son and myself. Waitress was not helpful in wine pairing. Cold tomatoe soup did not taste good. Calamari tasted too sweet. Sea bass was fresh, but not cooked well. Tenderloin was good. We liked some of the desserts, but not more than half. When I go to a restaraunt of this quality, I expect the best; I was underwhelmed!
Server was preoccupied with other tables. Had to flag him down for service.
Jonathan was one of the best waiters we have ever had at Veritas. His special attention to our needs was appreciated, as well as his charming sense of humor.
The food was excellent start to finish.
This is my second time eating at Veritas. The first time was a few months after it opened. This time was about 2 years later.
The food was as delicious and creative as the first time. Inventive Asian fusion creations with appealing presentation. The grilled schezuan shrimp appetizer also came in a non spicy version done perfectly for my husband. His grilled fish and vegetables were very tasty. I had the New Zealand lamb chops. They were cooked just right.
I was surprise that this business gets any business. Location is not viewable from the main street and once you come inside its kinda dark. Overall, the service was great and the meal was outstanding. The lamb chops are must try!
We love to eat good food, who doesn't. Having visited CS last yr on the Texas campus tour, we dined at a few restaurants that were less then good, Luigis for sure, so didn't expect to much here. Holy Cow! Great wine list and priced fair. My Wagyu steak was incredible. And coming from San Antonio, we have Bohanans, The Palm, Ruths Chris, Perrys, etc, this steak can hold it's own. Yeah it's small and may be pricey for the size, but the char was great and cooked to perfection med rare. My son selected A&M, I just got season tickets at Kyle field, so we will hit Veritas many times again
Delicious crab cakes on their trio lunch and reasonably priced. Nice experience.
Had a great experience. Wine list is unbelievable. Great get away with my wife.
We had the omikase 6 ways with the wine pairing. 6 delicious dishes paired with 6 glasses of really good wine. It was a very good meal and we enjoyed it very much.
We had a girls night out here. The service was great. The food the waitress recommended was excellent. The food and wine was delicious. I will be coming here again!
Veritas was an excellent choice for our post-graduation lunch this past weekend. We had a party of 10 - Veritas was able to up our reservation from 7 to 10 ten days before hand. The menu was the same menu for lunch and dinner. Highly recommend the sea bass - excellent. The baked potato soup was amazing! worth every calorie. My steak was slightly undercooked - but I attributed that to 110 people sitting down at the same time - rushing to get the food out.
Second visit to Veritas - enjoyed both very much. Service was excellent - even with having 110 sit at one time.
We made lunch reservations for Friday of graduation weekend via Open Table. The reservations were later modified and then confirmed via telephone. At no time did anyone warn us that no lunch menu is available on special A&M weekends and that the dinner menu is used for lunch on "graduation and football weekends." We had spent a small fortune the night before at another highly rated restaurant nearby and were not really shopping for $22-38 lunch entrees.
Apparently, their price-gouging policy is explained to potential customers who book via phone, but not always to those of us who use Open Table. (I was the third person to complain "this week;" all Open Table users by the restaurant's admission.) The manager who called me to explain after my inquiry said the policy is also on their website, but it did not not appear there until after that phone call. He tried to tell me that they use a Prix Fixe menu on these big weekends, but for our meal it was their standard a la carte dinner menu.
The dining experience was pleasant with good food and nice service. The snapper, potato and bacon soup, and carpaccio were all excellent. The lamb chops were under-cooked and under-seasoned. The duck, salmon, and calamari were good, but not exceptional. Portion sizes are very small.
This restaurant was very elegant and the atmosphere was romantic. I would like to eat on the patio and listen to the waterfall on a date. It is nice for a special occasion, but a little pricey for everyday dining . I like to try different foods and the menu had some items I was unfamiliar with so I would definitely go back to try something new!
