fantastic food - lives up to the reputation of amazing French cuisine - staff (Tara) was a wonderful server - we had a perfect experience
I would recommend with cautions. We had 3 in our party that were pescatarian. The only fish plate was sold out leaving a pasta dish as their option. They felt the Cacio e Pepe was over salted and over peppered.
The 2 meat dishes were wonderful.
I would recommend to meat eaters and have others check the menu and call ahead for availability.
If non meat that popular perhaps you need to adjust the menu.
The amuse bouche was a last minute throw together of pickled cucumber and vinegared cauliflower.
We are long time fans of this restaurant. All previous visits has been fine. This was extremely disappointing particularly as we brought out of town guests.
This is a cute little hole in the wall place where I managed to secure the window seat for my wife’s birthday. Small and intimate setting with appropriate lighting and noise level. Attentive, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable wait staff. Food was delicious with a decent wine selection, and we loved the fixed price three-course menu. Seems like it allows the chef more creativity so ideas remain fresh!
My only wish would be that they could cover their open shelves in the kitchen and dining area because I’d rather not see stacks of dining table extras and a hodgepodge of big box store oils and spices, which aren’t artfully or esthetically arranged when I’m paying for a really nice dinner.
We would return!
Wonderful server and great food. The small venue is always been my preference and love the simplicity of things. The cauliflower soup with the brioche was yummy. The top sirloin dish was also fabulous. Would highly recommend Verdigris!
I loved Verdigris! Terrific atmosphere (ask for a window table -- can fit up to 3 people), cozy, quiet, intimate. This is one of my absolute favorites. Fixed price, 3 course menu is out of this world. Wine pours are generous and wines are delicious. Service was attentive and professional and when we asked if the 3 of us could squeeze into the window table, the waitperson didn't hesitate (even though it's a bit of a tight squeeze). This will be my go-to Portland restaurant for romantic atmosphere and delicious food. I can't say enough good things about it!
We came in expecting a loud French restaurant and found it very quiet and warm. Food was great and service was quick. Definitely return in the future!
Great spot for a nice but not crazy expensive, trendy, noisy meal. Simple menu structure, excellent quality, creative without being outlandish. Delightfully seasonal and everything we had was deftly prepared.
Cozy ambiance and a price fixe 3 course menu that's a nice value. Service was friendly with some humor. I'll definitely be back.
I had salmon. I’ve been to Verdi’s Gris many times, it’s a favorite. To be fair an honest, this entree was a complete miss. Everything else was great as usual. It happens. Doesn’t change a thing
The $33 three course dinner is a great value! Great service, drinks and wine recommendations. Everyone liked what they ordered. The 60 minute egg was fantastic, as well as the lamb and beef bourguignon. The least favorite was probably the salmon, which was a bit on the dry side and the vegetables under cooked.
Easy to reserve a spot, table was ready when I arrived. Nice small restaurant decor, intimate. Temperature was chilly and some others mentioned this to our server -- who said they were keeping it cool because it would get too hot in the kitchen otherwise. Service otherwise was OK, but the food was very good -- starters, main entree, and desserts. Very good value for the quality of the food!
excellent food and service. Have been many times and never disappointed.
My partner said the duck breast was the best he had ever had. My salmon was perfectly seared. The mushroom soup was delicious. Wine was very good. Will was very knowledgeable about wine and very helpful and fun. We had a delightful time and will return again.
We are always impressed with a meal at Verdigris. And we are not easy to impress! My Farro dish was exactly the kind of comfort food I needed and the berry cobbler with caramel sauce made my eyes roll back. Delicious from start to finish!
We enjoy dinners at Verdigris, and have eaten there quite a few times. The food is always good, service very good, and we enjoy dining there. The three course dinner is a very good value! As a perk for us - my husband has gluten issues, but most dishes are gluten friendly.
Noise level can be a bit high, depending on how busy it is.
We would highly recommend this restaurant!
As always, excellent food, exceptional service, and lovely ambience‼️👏👏👍
Was my birthday. Were supposed to eat at Le Pigeon, but husband forgot to make reservations. I was not in the greatest space when we arrived at this simple little neighborhood spot. Decor is simple, food is perfectly seasoned and balanced. Flavors meld harmoniously in a satisfying arc from appetizer through the main course to dessert. I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed my celebration. Highly recommended.
Quiet conversation not possible on a Friday evening.
excellent food and service; a place that we really enjoy and can easily highly recommend.
Wonderful food, outstanding service, great value, quiet atmosphere
The food is fabulous, portions are perfect so you may be able to indulge in one of their delicious desserts.
Exceptional dining experience. Menu options were beyond belief and I would say any choice would have been delicious.
Excellent dinner, and a great value, purchasing the fixed price dinner. Dessert is not an afterthought, and knowing that is coming allows for great portion planning. Ate it all.
An excellent find in northeast Portland. Non-pretentious, great food, and the $33 prix fix for three courses cannot be beat. We went on a Thursday, wine by the bottle for half price, and had an excellent Bordeaux from the small but well-considered list. A nice place for a reasonable French-inspired meal.
Will was a delightful, helpful, energetic server!!
I always enjoy going to this restaurant. I like what they do. And I live in the neighborhood which makes it even better.
Food was tasty but kitchen was slow!!!!
Our server (Will) was attentive and accommodating of some special requests and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The food was delicious, and we appreciated that we could linger over our meal and not feel rushed. It’s one of the few places I’ve been lately that doesn’t get too loud to hear your dinner companions.
Party of four for dinner. We were greeted graciously, table ready on time. Server was friendly, professional and efficient. Good menu considering this is not a huge place. Good price for food this caliber. The three course meal (choose from regular menu) is great value. Never had a disappointing meal here. Kudos to the kitchen and wait staff.
We have eaten at Verdigris several times over the last five years and have never had a bad meal. The 3 course option is a great value and you are able to sample a lot of food. This place is a winner.
First visit to Verdigris for brunch after a good experience at dinner. The eggs scramble was delicious and so was the pork schnitzel with egg. The environment is clean and simple. Service was a bit lacking and portions were slightly smaller than I would have liked.
My husband and I went here for our 25th Anniversary. They gave us each a free glass of Rose for the occasion. We had TWO incredibly friendly and attentive servers take care of us. Service was amazing. The food was delicious. Prices were reasonable for such high quality food. The only minor criticism I would mention is that the portions are very small. I know it's a french restaurant and they go for quality over quantity. I was glad not to leave stuffed, like you often do when you eat out, but the portions could have been just a little larger. Overall, a great experience.
One favorite restaurants in Portland for so many reasons.
The heirloom tomato salad and pork appetizer are absolutely amazing. Almost all of the food we tried were wonderful and staff was friendly and accommodating. For $33, you get an appetizer, an entree, a dessert. It's really a very good value for the quality of food you get. The portion isn't very big but I think it's just right. Would really like to try their brunch next time!
What a wonderful little restaurant! Tucked away on Fremont, this place can be easy to miss. Do not pass it up! We haven’t had this great of a dining experience in Portland for years. The food and service was amazing, with a quiet and cozy ambiance. We kept marveling at how great of a find this was and how there were no lines on a Friday night. It reminded us of an older Portland when you could still find a great restaurant and not have to wait 45-60 min for a table.
Verdigris is not far from our house, and we have read the menu a number of times, so we were glad to try it out for the first time on my birthday. Everything was quite wonderful. It is a small restaurant, and they prepare excellent food. We did the prix fixe of three courses and each course was appropriately modest in size so that by the end of the meal which did take us two hours, we were full and satisfied.
We'll tell our friends not to miss this small but exceptional place to dine.
Loved Verdigris. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great - you could hear each other talk and have a lovely brunch experience. Oh, and get the Duck Fat Hashbrowns!
I have been to Verdigris a number of times in the past and would give it 5 stars, but this time I was disappointed to find that the menu did not have the shrimp mouse or the saffron seafood stew that is on the online menu. This was disappointing to my group and me as this is what were looking forward to and planned on having. The rest of the menu is good, but nothing super special. Also, the wine list is now very very limited. Too bad. These are not very good signs about Verdigris' health.
Fantastic server-fabulous meal!! Made the evening so special!!
