Verde Ratings and Reviews
The food was very good, good pizza that's for sure. Nice wine list as well. The service was very very slow... They told us it might take up to 20 min to have the pizzas out but after an hour we were still waiting, more than that, people who got there after us received their food before us and even left the restaurant before us! Also, one of the waitresses was drinking red wine, in a wine glass while she was working, we were sitting upstairs and her glass was behind the work computer. What??!! Anyway, I would like to go back to give it a try again and only because the food was good. But when you pay $90 for 2 people in a pizza place, you expect to get a really good service.
Bruch was phenomenal – generous portions for a reasonable price, including a hearty bread basket with spread. They did not receive the fresh fruit for my French toast, so they subbed in a granola and museli topper with lots of nuts, dried fruit, and pear slices... which was an amazing combo. Have been on four separate occasions and would recommend. Attentive service.
I attended for my birthday and they were accommodating of my request for 8 seats, even though the online reservation technically only allows 6 in a party. The waitress was flexible and patient as we took a bit of time ordering. The Mule in a Pear Tree was good and my pizza was excellent. If you go, definitely try the homemade mozarella! The only negative was that the big table by the door is a bit chilly with folks coming and going-especially one patron who held the door open for quite some time! That won't stop be from going back though.
Pizza from the wood oven was OK but not great- was underdone: crust not crisp on bottom and a lottle soggy on top. Toppings were excellent.
Originally seated on first floor, we asked to move b/c it was roo cold near door, which opwns directly into dinning room. Casual atmosphere, friendly and accomodating staff. Good location in nice neighborhood.
No doubt Verde has great pizza. Brick oven, fast cooking style with a wide variety of toppings. Small and quaint, it has a nice comfortable feel with great service and good selection of beer and wine. Street parking can take a few minutes, so may want to come during valet hours in the evening to avoid the trouble.
The food was fantastic! The only thing that I wish had been different is that we had been seated in a different part of the restaurant. We had two people and the back end of the restaurant was relatively open and we were seated next to a noisy family instead. Will definitely be returning!
Always love to visit Verde, but don't get there enough. While the wine least (to me) can be broadened, they do have a wonderful selection of drinks otherwise. The staff - waiters, bartenders, owner (who is always engaged with customers) - are a perfect match to the quality food and ambiance offered.
We ordered a vegetarian pizza, the margherita pizza and a veggie & sausage pizza. All three pizza's tasted excellent, with ingredients that were obviously fresh and of high quality. The dough was very flavorful as well, but not so much that it overwhelmed the pizza. My only suggestion, and this may be more of a personal preference when it comes to pizza, is that the crust could have been a bit more well done. The center portion of the pizza was soft and slightly soggy...this not not affect the taste at all, but I'd prefer if it had been cooked for a minute or two longer--which I might ask for at the next visit...which I'm already looking forward to!
I like the decor and my cocktail was great. I did not get a pizza and really regretted it as the meal was not great. Dessert and cocktail was excellent and everyone had the breakfast pizza, so if I do go back I would try that. I also kept getting knocked into, as the seating downstairs is very tight and even staff have a hard time getting around, Our waitress also seemed less than enthused to be serving us.
We tried out Verde as part of Baltimore Restaurant Week. It provided a very pleasant and upbeat environment. While the food options are mostly limited to pizza, each dish was nicely presented and well prepared.
In spite of there being a large group of 20+ in our room, the staff managed to provide us with a pleasant and timely level of service. Well done by them!
We plan to return to Verde.
This was our first visit to Verde. We are a family of four, and we have been to just about every pizzeria around the Baltimore area. The food was excellent, but not sure it's worth the full price. (we went during Restaurant Week) Everything from the atmosphere to the food was excellent. The only drawback, the portions are large and the waitress specifically noted that they were single size pizzas. We ended up taking 80% of our food home. I think my husband and I may return for a lunch but to spend over a $100 for pizza is a little much.
Great service. There for a business meeting, I got there early with one other person, but they let us sit and wait for the group. Some members showed up later or didn't show up and they were very accommodating. The food was great and the place was quiet so it was perfect for us. We were there on a Monday night so the noise level might change on weekends.
The pizza was terrific as was the burrata appetizer. All of our 4 pizzas were excellent -- anything with the homemade mozzarella was great and if looking for something unusual, try the pistachio and sausage. Highly recommended! We were visiting from DC and stumbled upon it from a review and this was our second trip back.
Love Verde! Came this time for their New Year's Eve prix fixe menu. We were greeted with fun hats and noise makers. Their specialty cocktails for the occasion were fantastic!! (Verde cocktails/martinis never disappoint, and this was no exception.) Our waiter, Corey, was attentive and kind, with good advice on the wine list. A fun, low-key New Year's Eve night out. Thank you, Verde!!
I selected Verde for my New Year's Eve dinner because it has consistently impressed me with the quality of its food - especially it's authentic Italian brick oven pizza. I was not informed when I made the reservation that it had a special menu for New Year's Eve and that was all that was offered. Unfortunately, the dinner special included way too much food - a huge plate of heavy appetizers, salad, bread, two pizzas, and two desserts as well as a starting cocktail and entire bottle of wine. It was a ridiculous amount of food for two people and it wouldn't fit on the small table. We were trying to fit it all like a puzzle on the table all evening. The waitress brought us our pizza before we finished our salads. That made it even worse. It would have been an appropriate amount of food for 4, but not two people - even with a big appetite. We ended up taking an entire pizza home and leaving half a bottle of wine. It was a pretty good price for what was offered, but I wish they had given us the option to choose our own meal with a more reasonable amount of food. The most disappointing part of the meal was dessert. A plate of two desserts was included with tiramisu and a chocolate fudge cake. Both desserts were horribly dry - like they'd been made the day before and left out in the air. The tiramisu lacked flavor and the chocolate dessert was way too heavy to even eat. The worst part of the evening, though, was the noise. I couldn't enjoy my dinner with my partner because there were extremely rowdy group tables nearby talking loudly and blowing horns that the restaurant had provided everyone - bad idea - especially to the 7:30pm seating which should have been reasonably quiet. I love this restaurant, but I'd never go back for NYE and would not recommend it unless you want indigestion for your new year. If you still insist on going, do NOT allow them to seat you upstairs where they seat groups.
