Verde Ratings and Reviews
The food at Verde is outstanding! We eat here whenever we are in Baltimore. It is not a touristy place at all, more of a neighborhood restaurant. But it is worth the cab ride to this restaurant for the high quality, delicious food. On this trip we started with the beet salad. It had big chucks of fresh beets with just the right ratio of cheese and pistachios. Then we had a burrata pizza. The cheese was creamy and delicious and the basil leaves on top were as big as a slice of the pizza. We also a grilled eggplant pizza. The crust on these gourmet pizzas is soft and just-right chewy and has the right amount of "char" from the wood fire.
I will say that the service was rushed on Friday night. I felt like my waitress was never looking directly at me, but was thinking ahead to what she needed to do next. I would have like more time between my appetizer and pizza. We were in and out within an hour. Neither the waitress nor the hostess were inclined to help call for a cab. Overall, I felt the waitress could have been more attentive during and after the meal.
I am passionate about burrata cheese , and Verde has hands down, the best homemade burrata I have ever tasted. Their craft cocktails, wine list and even the bread is top notch.
The pizza is inventive and delicious. Ambiance is bit loud, but worth raising your voice for!
While the food was delicious and service at our table was good, getting to that point was a feat. I wasn’t expecting to be seated right away without a reservation on a Friday night, but the hostesses were not exactly helpful. First they said they were booked for the night and still seating people with reservations. They then told us we’d have a 40-minute wait, so I decided to check open table to see if I could find a reservation. I quickly found a reservation for two, 8 minutes from the time I was booking it. I felt a little weird about doing that, so I asked the hostess if I could book a reservation online, to which she responded, “the choice is yours”.
While waiting for our table, my friend and I sat at the bar to get a drink. The bar tender didn’t wait on us for 6 or 7 minutes and then told us it would be a 15-minute wait on cocktails and proceeded to show us the long list of drinks he had to prepare. We were seated at our table not too long after and had a lovely time once we were seated. However, I felt like I was constantly apologizing to my friend who was visiting from out of town about our experience thus far. All in all, I would recommend Verde strictly for the food and drink, but not for the service or environment. Or might suggest going there on a week night for a better ambience.
the roasted olives were not roasted, taste like they came out of a glass jar from the supermarket. The pizza dough is not good. Soggy, tasteless, rubbery. I know pizza especially from Naples. This place is not Italian. I think they bake the dough beforehand and put it in the fridge or on a shelf. It was a busy night, perhaps that was the problem. But here's the think, if you are good at something you need to make it good all the time. Sorry guys. BTW: if you order anything extra on your pizza, it comes uncooked and on the side. Huh?
My wife and I split the beef/pork meatballs and a pizza with roasted red peppers, sausage and mozzarella. Everything was good, but not great. The best thing about our meal was my wife's cocktail (the drink menu offers an extensive list of Italian craft beer and several interesting sounding cocktails). The restaurant space is quaint and the outdoor seating looks like it'd provide a good dining experience on a nice day. I'd try Verde again, but there are better options for pizza in Baltimore.
We arrived 30 minutes early for our 5:00 reservation and we were told to wait outside because they were still setting up. As someone who has worked in hospitality for 10 years, I know the importance of not opening the doors before we are ready.
By the time that we were finally seated, we were seated in the aisle, although my reservation said "quiet corner". When we asked the waitress to move us, she told us that because of the other reservations, she was unable to do so. Since we arrived before anyone else, being moved to another table should not have been a problem.
As a 10-year hospitality employee, I know the importance of pleasing paying customers. Although the food was good, and the staff was efficient, carryout would have been a better option for us than dining in.
The pizza was very good! We tried two very different kinds and both were tasty. Unfortunately, it wasn't a very friendly place. The hostess didn't welcome us or even look at us when we checked in. The waitress was slightly better, but certainly not friendly. It's too bad because I was hoping for a welcoming neighborhood place..
This restaurant is fantastic. The service was very slow and I mean very slow especially for not being to full capacity. It took over 20 mins to bring my bottle of beer I ordered. After 10 min of waiting for the waitress to come back after letting me know they didn't have the drink I originally ordered. The food is worth it but very disappointed in service.
I have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions primarily to enjoy their pistachio pesto Pizza... Out of this world! Have never been disappointed with anything ordered off the menu. The owner Edward is always engaging and delightful to speak with. Outstanding!
My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience at Verde. We dined there on a Thursday night during restaurant week. The complimentary valet was very much appreciated, we had a difficult time finding parking. The menu was great! Several options for vegetarians, which I loved. And the staff were extremely relaxed and accommodating, very nice. Will definitely be going back!
Fantastic! It was a gorgeous evening so we were able to sit outside. Lyric was very knowledgeable as to the menu items, specials, wine recommendations, and vegan options. We had the bruschetta and a few different pizzas. We got caught up chatting and lost track of time. Lyric gladly boxed our pre-ordered desert so that we could make it to our show on time. Valet was reasonable and very fast. Can't wait to return!
Food looked good but I'll never know. We had a reservation at 5:30 on a Saturday. There were a few tables on the lower level, but the host put us at a table upstairs all the way in the very back. We were right beside another family. Just two lonely tables about 10 inches from each other, desperately waiting for some service that never arrived. After waiting at least 10 minutes, we couldn't even get any eye contact with anyone. I went down to the host and asked to move. He looked at the computer screen and said this is where we had an opening. Meanwhile, there were at least 3 other table still open on the lower level.
At that point we left and went up the street to Johnny Rad's....pizza was probably just as good with a lot less attitude.
