About Verdad Restaurant and Tequila Bar
Verdad Restaurant & Tequila Bar is the unique Euro-Latin eatery helmed by chef Nicolas Farina in its stunning Byrn Mawr locale. A tantalizing array of tapas is what Verdad Restaurant & Tequila Bar is all about and the tapas are sorted on the menu by under mood or food category. Under “chilled,” where you will find small plates like heirloom gazpacho and lonster tacos with shrimp salad, whereas “queso” houses such items as Spanish “ninfas” soft cow’s milk cheese and the semi-soft “drunken goat” wine-aged goat’s milk cheese plate. Larger plate entrees include the mango halibut with avocado mousse, the carne asada filet topped with bacon-infused whipped cream and the half-roast chicken with chicken liver terrine. Verdad is all about serving modern, elevated meals.
You can hold your private event at Verdad Restaurant & Tequila Bar. It also holds a “tequila university” class with tapas plates and tequila pairings.

Verdad Restaurant and Tequila Bar Ratings and Reviews
The food is amazing! The delivery is extremely frustrating. My husband has received both of his entrees while I wait for one of mine. The dinner comes out before the appetizer. We come for the food, but don't come as often as we would if the delivery of dinner was improved.
2 specials -- Flautas and Duck Empanadas were fantastic. They should add them permanently. Corn chowder was excellent as well. Finally, really enjoyed the tacos de carne and tacos de pollo. We'd been there many times, this was the first time with a new menu and we were very satisfied. I would stay away from the lamb meatballs, but everything else we had was very good and I would order the rest again, and probably every time. We'd been big fans of Matador in Wayne, but this will take over as a go to place for us. 2 kids (8, 5) enjoyed it as well.
It was a very cold and rainy night and we sat in the front corner by the window, when the door opened it was freezing, so we moved. They need to fix this, but a great experience.
Lots of little sharer plate options on the menu. Me and my wife had 4 options amd 1 side in total and it was enough. No complaints in the food. Recommend the mussels (the sauce is amazing, with a little spicy kick). Server was very friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back.
All 4 enjoyed their dinners. Three had tomato salad and one gazpacho. We had lamb balls and maki mahi platters. Everything was delicious, beautifully seasoned and visually appetizing. Service was attentive. It's location is excellent as it is next to Bryn Mawr film institute and makes for a convenient pleasant evening.
I dined at Verdad last night with a few friends, this is definitely one of our favorite spots!
The food was amazing - fish tacos, pork carnitas, heirloom tomato salad, black truffle flatbread, short ribs with smashed fingerlings, carne asada, cheesy cauliflower. Everything came out in a timely fashion and it was more than enough food for 4 of us to share!
Our server was fabulous - Marc is extremely knowledgable and made great recommendations for drinks and food.
We had a wonderful time at Verdad as always!
i have not been back to verdad for over a year. i decided to meet my cousin there for lunch on a Friday at 1 pm. we were the only two people in the restaurant for over two hours which was fine with us. The food and the service was OK. will not be on my list to return soon.
Food was great. Service seemed overwhelmed and could never really keep up, way below average. We had missibg utensils, organized ourselves water and wine from the bar.As the food comes out tapas style, rather at random, you cannot build up a meal. The last thing we got were our sides... it can also get kind of pricey with all the small plates.
Had a good meal at Verdad. Wine selection was good and featured Spanish and Portuguese wines which are not always easy to find in local state stores. Tapas menu but portions are much bigger than expected so ordering 2 would be sufficient for most. Had the beet salad, flatbreads, and tacos de pollo - all tasty. Warning about the flatbreads - they take a long time so if you want them as a first dish, you will be waiting a while. Atmosphere was good but the acoustics are not great so noise carries. Great place to stop in for a quick meal or if you are going to the Bryn Mawr Film Institute.
Tapas restaurant that we tried for the first time. We moved to the upstairs dining when we were originally put near the door and there was a pretty good draft. Upstairs the service was spotty, one waiter handling a lot of tables, big groups, etc. so we didn't get very good service.
As for the food, a bit hit and miss. Had a crab soup that was terrific, very good cheese plate, great carnitas. Then it went downhill. Waiter recommended the Pastrami Duck, which was way too salty, hard to eat. He also said the beef brisket with port wine reduction was a favorite. so we got that too, it was very dry, almost no sauce and we pointed that out. Nothing was offered. White wine sangria was great, the margarita's good but not very strong. Overall not great, liked the atmosphere downstairs, might try again but won't rush there.
I took my girlfriend and her family here. I figured why not try something different with the Tapas style dinner for my girlfriend's birthday, that was a mistake. The small dishes took long to come out, and the restaurant at the time was empty. The family complained about the bland soups, and the big dish "Vegetable Paella" was very salty to the point I stopped everyone from forcing it down their throats because they felt bad on how unhappy the birthday girl was. All eyes on me for picking a nice restaurant with mediocre food. I definitely will avoid this restaurant from now on. Great atmosphere but the chef dropped the "spoon" on this one.
When you go to Verdad, do yourself a favor and immediately order two of the Strawberry Habanero Guacamoles. If you order just one you will kick yourself for not taking my suggestion! Wonderful food and have had great service every visit. Only suggestion is to order a few dishes at a time. Sometimes they arrive too quickly and you have not finished the earlier plates.
Both food and drink were amazing. We started off with cocktails, which are rather small for the $12 price tag but were delicious. Our waiter recommended 2-3 dishes per person, which would have been a tremendous amount of food. They say they're "small plates," but each dish is a healthy serving of food. I would say 2-3 dishes between 2 people is all you need. The strawberry habanero guac, and chips, was a highlight.
My boyfriend and I went after a few recommendations and because we drive by it a lot. It was suggested by our server to order 3-4plates each, because it's slightly 'tapas', and that the food will come out in waves. The food we ordered was amazing however; it all came out immediately so it was really hard to enjoy what we ordered because we were overwhelmed by how many plates were on the table and trying to eat quickly because they were removing half empty and empty plates. Overall we would definitely go back but we would order very differently. It is not tapas so one appetizer each and and entree would definitely suffice.
Love this restaurant for it's convenience and good food , although recently raised its prices. Disappointed in the desserts, as last time they had a delicious brownie and ice cream , but it was no longer on the menu. Known for their tapas portions, which I love, and the variety of selection. A little noisy on Sat. Night, but quieter during the week. The service is excellent . Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The food is very very ok. It doesn't overly excite us and every time we have gone we walk away saying it will be a long time before we go back - and each time we have given it another try to impress us we have been under impressed. We like the concept, the atmosphere and the service is good, but the food/drink is underwhelming for the cost.
