My first visit to Verbena was a good one! The linguine was wonderful, and two out of three of us loved our entrees. (The fish and chips was not well received however!) I loved the ambiance, and if you are looking for an upscale place to have a drink, perhaps impress a first date, the bar there is just the place. Our server was top-notch, and very patient with us as we lingered for a few hours in her booth! Great place to celebrate a special occasion, but maybe a little pricey for a casual lunch.

Excellent food - I had seafood stew, hubby had the pork chop. Chop was pretty fatty so much left on the plate. Fabio was "Fabio-less" as our server. I appreciated his suggestion of the "orange" wine as I am transitioning from a red to white wine drinker. We took our after-dinner Cacao martini to the patio and enjoyed the beautiful view of the lake. We love Verbena!!

Had goat cheese appetizer, Amish chicken and the seafood stew. Everything was excellent. Service was fabulous. Wine list is varied and be affordable. I’ll be back.

We enjoyed everything we ordered and the service was friendly and attentive. Other reviews mentioned the high price point, so we knew what to expect. Our reservation mentioned the celebration of a 52nd wedding anniversary, so it was a bit disappointing to walk into a lovely naturally lit dining space only to be seated in a booth next to the bar. We all agreed that the location lowered our overall experience as it would have been much nicer to be seated at a table near the large windows. If our seating location had been more thoughtfully considered, this would have been a 5 star experience.

It was a very good lunch and wonderful afternoon. However, the restaurant was out of the wine I ordered and without consulting with me, made a substitution. I went from and Alexander Valley wine to a Sonoma wine at the same price. I am not a wine expert, but I know what I like, and I do not like to pay the same for Sonoma wine as Alexander Valley wine. I would have appreciated being consulted on the change. I was not told of the change until my check was presented.

First visit. Wasn’t familiar with this restaurant as we recently moved from the STL area. The restaurant and the attached Inn and grounds are just beautiful! Dined aline for lunch before car shopping as my husband was out of town. Not busy as they had just opened. Seated promptly. Service was wonderful. It’s a little pricey for what you get, but the food and cocktail were very tasty! The patio is beautiful and I definitely would like to bring the husband back for a date night in the fall when we can enjoy the patio and views of the lake.

The hostess was beyond rude and condescending and nearly spoiled the outing for our family, but the service from our waitress and the food made up for it. We’ve visited every time we’ve been to KC, but will rethink in the future based on our interaction with her.

We did not know that this restaurant was a baby sister of our favorite restaurant in KC, Cafe Provence, until we were seated. The food and service were everything we would have expected knowing the relationship. Staff was energetic, knowledgeable, and very attentive and pleasant. All of the food/ drinks were amazing. Get the goat cheese dip… it will not disappoint! All together a lovely dining experience. Will absolutely be back and will recommend to friends and family.

One of my very favorite lunch spots in KC. Easy access, wonderful residential area, location in the Inn is great. This is one of two places I take my friends for a long quiet lunch. Great food and great bar as well. Pleasant outside seating. Just really nice.

I ordered the chicken breast and the sauce they put on it was SO good. My husband ordered the pork chop and said it was really good. Loved the atmosphere! I don’t hear well and was very happy that they don’t have loud music playing or a lot of noise.

Verbena is a good restaurant. It has tiny imperfections. Wedge salad lacked a slight acid tone. Roasted potatoes were less than perfectly cooked. The table was in the bar giving it a pub feel. All these comments are all minor. The steak was delicious and the Scotch quite tasty. We enjoyed our evening. Salute to Kurt for his good service.

The ambiance at Verbena was lovely and perfect for a special night out. The food was a bit hit or miss. The salmon entree was delicious and the Parker House rolls did not disappoint. My mother enjoyed her clam chowder. My husband’s lobster and crab roll was lackluster as it was prepared with a glob of mayonnaise and some shredded crab. The fries were obviously made from frozen. The lobster in this sandwich was nowhere to be seen. Quite the disappointment! We live in Boston so we do know something about flavorful lobster rolls and this was not it!
