Little hole in the wall local spot that has enjoyed a number of predecessors of various cuisines. This version turns out some imaginative dishes all good that we tried. .. flounder and prawns with creamy polenta. Mango stack starter and profiteroles for dessert. You will be pleasantly surprised with an evening meal here. Ambiance better in the "garden" seating. They are not losing $$ on the wines, forgot to inquire about corkage for the next visit.

Overall, the food tasted delicious. I had the Eggs Benedict; however, one of the eggs was overcooked. My wife had the corned beef hash, and she too experienced the issue where one of the eggs was overcooked. Our friend had the Croque Madame; one half of the sandwich was toasted more than the other side, making it challenging to bite into—quality control issues. A cute place with good service, and we would go again to try different menu items.

Verano Cafe is a homely little restaurant near Maxwell Village, not far from Sonoma Plaza. Until recently they only did breakfast and brunch but now they have expanded to dinner Thursday through Saturday with 16(!) entrees on the menu. I ate the tender and delicious octopus served over a smear of polenta with drops of aioli before I remembered to take a picture. My wife had an excellent halibut with sweet potato chips and I chose the Coq au Vin which melted off the bone into a rich sauce that saturated the potato purée. This was an extraordinary meal cooked with care and inspiration. You should go.

We have been to Verano for breakfast, lunch and dinner and find it amazingly consistent - hard to do when serving three meals a day. Dinner was particularly wonderful and a BIG nod to our server who was an incredibly attentive young man. We shared the flounder and the pork chop. Both came with sides and provided an ample portion. We opted to trade out the mashed potatoes on one of the entrees for the vegetable risotto and were not disappointed. So happy to have this neighborhood gem!

So nice to have a reasonably priced restaurant with a diverse menu, good food and very friendly service in town. Sonoma needs more local places like this gem.

Excellent! We were 5 diners on a Thursday night. The options for a main course were so interesting that we each picked a different dish. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Not easy for any restaurant. Our suggestion is that a better wine list be offered to complement the excellent food. Cheers to the chef and our wonderful waiter. We will be back to check out breakfast/brunch. Thank you!
