We have been coming to Ocean House and its various dining options for years. When we arrived for this reservation, they would not accommodate us for parking at valet. We drove around for 20-30 min to try to find a spot in town - there was none available. When we came back to the hotel/restaurant, they still would not accommodate us for parking despite having a reservation. We had driven 90 min from Boston to enjoy lunch at Ocean House - something we have done every summer for the last 5+ years. It had never been a problem. They completely wasted our beautiful Saturday. It is very disapppinting that an establishment of this quality with all of its accolades and awards treats guests this way. I have loved Ocean House for many years, but unsure when I will return now after this experience. Very disappointing.
Beautiful view, quick service. Only feedback is that the menu is very limited.
Amazing as always. Impeccable service and ambiance
We have been here a number of times and every time it has been wonderful!. If we lived closer, we would come more often.
We have been here a number of times as
This was our first time at The Veranda and it was a special occasion, my birthday! The ambience was absolutely lovely, the food was delicious and the service with Kamisha was outstanding! We have already made reservations at The Bistro, to return in just a week! Can’t wait!
Gorgeous setting and views. Expensive but worth it for a special occasion.
Reliably enjoyable even with the limited options on the menu. Despite the restrictions on Opentable reservations there were several empty tables during our meal. They seem to be saving too many tables for hotel guests. Very quick bar and food service so you should only order food when you are ready to eat. Consistently good quality of food and service. Mid priced restaurants are poor value in relation to the slightly higher cost and much higher quality at Ocean House.
I have never had a more tasteless, dry, and hard to chew chicken salad. It is an embarrassment to the ocean house.
Everything about it was excellent. View spectacular, service , food excellent
We love sitting outside at the Verandah. Great view of the water from a side angle. Service and food are outstanding.
Always beautiful but it took a while for the server to get to our table .. the menu is limited but good and expensive😝
Service disappointing. Food was ok the chicken added to salad was very bland. Need to change up menu as I’m a repeat guest
Great food in a very pretty setting! The lobster roll and lobster cob salad were great- very fresh!
Awesome venue! Started at the bar with Ken offering us his summmertime specialty cocktal. If you enjoy Tequila, you will love this drink. The food was exceptional along with beautiful view.
Lobster roll was fantastic, as was the caprese salad and kale salad. Lovely porch area with stunning views! Service was excellent!
the view and service are excellent the food is overpriced and not great.
have been going to the Ocean house for years on the Veranda,
They have reduced the size of the Lobster Roll bun to a much smaller bun.
It has greatly diminished the joy of eating as lobster roll at the ocean house.
PLEASE go back to the original bun instead of serving me a lobster roll on a HOT DOG BUN!
It's the Ocean House! There should be embarrassed to see this great sandwich on a HOT DOG BUN!
What a great experience! Enjoyed celebrating my birthday at the Verandah!
We had a nice lunch. However is was very noisy as the wedding tent from the night before was being dismantled right below the veranda and it was noisy and disruptive! I will check in that next time.
Was a little disappointed with the menu selection. Our waiter seemed distracted. Wanted to assist the other waitress with a takeout order while clearly there were plenty of sit down customers wanting service. Views were nice. A bit chilly.
Beautiful night with picture perfect views. Limited menu on terrace but food was delicious.
Perfect view & delicious Food!
So. I love The Ocean House. Have been there numerous times. The ambience is outstanding, service always good. However, after spending over $200 on lunch for the two of us, I had to pay $3.00 to valet my car! What?? Believe me. It's not the money obviously, but really??
We were a party of 4 seniors who have been staying home bc of covid so this was a bit of a treat outing for us. We ordered 2 short rib sandwiches, 1 hot lobster roll, 1 cold lobster roll, all excellent but they were served with slightly stale (or soggy) potato chips. The problem is that the Verandah menu is served from a small kitchen on the Verandah (outside) and the chips are liable to get soggy. The other surprise was coffee: my husband ordered decaf, I ordered regular and we think it may have been instant! The property itself is absolutely lovely inside and out. I won't say we'll never return, but this was our first visit and it was very pretty but a little meh.
I would recommend it to a friend with an asterisk.
For an upscale experience with a bonus fabulous view, you cannot beat the Ocean House. it is magical, so relaxing and transformative - puts a smile in your heart.
Beautiful resort, great location(Very open and airy) , wonderful views, very good service. The Cobb salad was a disappointment, though. Ingredients fresh but the dressing not flavorful at all. Very bland. Would go again but order something else
You come here for the view and ambiance. I suggest getting here 30 minutes early to walk the grounds. It is a nice looking hotel. The food was not bad but not great.
The view from the Verandah at Ocean House is exceptional. Although the menu may be a bit limited, everyone in my party found something to their liking, and once it arrived enjoyed it immensely. The desserts were fantastic - a true treat!
We have fined for lunch here every year since the hotel opened. The menu has rarely changed in the last five years, with only the elimination of the corn chowder. I personally would like to see a more diverse menu. We still remember the beef sliders from the first year. Being stuck with this Covid-19 dining, they did an adequate job cleaning tables between guests. The cleaning was not as thorough as I expected.
Ambiance is always spectacular. Special location. Thought the food was OK but expected more from a five star establishment. Have eaten in the higher end dinning room before and the food was spectacular, the Verandah Bar was far below that high bar in comparison. Would we go back? Yes. The atmosphere is worth it.
The place is lovely; overlooking the ocean. Ambience is gorgeous. However, the food at the Verandah was terrible. FIrst of all the menu was nothing spectacular. The cobb salad was one of the worst I've ever eaten. The avocado was overripe, the chicken was cubed and chewy, the dressing was horrible. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. The charcuterie was average, nothing spectacular. For such a gorgeous location, I would have thought they would have one of the top chefs in the country. I was more than disappointed. I wish I could, but I can't find one good thing to report on. Other than to have a cocktail, I wouldn't eat there again.
Great day, ambiance was terrific, food was delicious. All in all Ocean House is terrific. Slight disconnect as I booked it as a 91st birthday party, which the server was unaware of. That said, it did not detract from the experience. Danika was lovely and very caring. If you can get her table, do it!
Amazing atmosphere. The views speak for themselves. The food and drinks are good. We got the seafood platter to start and the chicken lettuce cups and chicken salad sandwich.
Loved eating on the verandah. Hot lobster rolls was delicious and the crab and onion dip was very good. Drinks were delicious too. My only complaint was that the service was a little slow. That is why I didn't give it a 5 star. The hotel grounds are breathtaking
Wonderful place for lunch! Great service and atmosphere
They were pumping the septic the day we planned to go during lunch. They offered us the option to sit inside but we wanted to enjoy the view and verandah seating on our day off. We did get whiffs Of the smell throughout lunch and had the noise and view of the truck throughout. It was very unfortunate as we did plan lunch for our day off. They did not offer a complimentary drink or app which would’ve been nice. Also, for being one of the top resort hotels in New England and the country, I would think they might be able to arrange a different time to do the pumping,as to not interfere with lunch and daytime activities for guests who pay a pretty penny to stay there.
Just the view of the beautiful grounds and the ocean make the Verandah a special place for lunch. You feel like it could be the roaring twenties again. Everything from the specialty drinks, to the oysters, to the lobster rolls were delicious. The service was impeccable, just as you would expect from a 5 star restaurant.
Despite being regular customers and booking way ahead of time they gave us a low table (like a coffee table) on the veranda to east at.
It was very uncomfortable as you could not get your legs underneath it.
Sad because it is such a beautiful place and great food and wine.
We ordered clam chowder that was creamy but not much clams or potatoes like it was previously and could have been hotter. The veggie panini was good but a little too dry to eat. The veggies were grill which was nice. The short rib sandwich was very good but needed more aloli on it but would order again.....I will be returning but will let them know to put extra aloli on sandwiches so not so dry.
It was easy to get a reservation and the food and service and view were great. Social distancing was observed. We had a great lunch there and would recommend it highly. The warm crab dip and hot lobster rolls were terrific!
