   We had Michael as our waiter, very personable And made our dining experience really excellent. Only complaint about food was the limoncello dessert and the bread. Will recommend to our friends.

   The crap dip is to die for. We kind of expected a heavy mayo based dip and we’re blown away by the lite and amazing crap flavor. You must try this! The diver scallops were perfect. This is a must try.

    I have eaten here a number of times and it’s always been good. Tonight was the exception, extremely disappointed. The pasta I ordered was bland and way over cooked. I replaced it with Burrata, unfortunately it was not creamy but over refrigerated and stiff. I ordered dessert Almond Lemon cake, which I’ve had at least twice before, it too had been sitting in the refrigerator too long. I won’t go back on a Monday again.     If you want a fine dining experience with excellent service and delicious, creatively presented food then The Veranda should be your choice of restaurants on Amelia Island. Prices are comparable to other high end restaurants in Fernandina Beach. It is also wheelchair accessible.

    Lovely atmosphere on the Omni Amelia Island Plantation property. Creative and varied menu. Only wish there were more green salad or vegetable options to choose from. Accommodating staff and great flourless chocolate cake!

    Must have been a bad night for the chef. My fish was over cooked and hard. My husbands steak was over cooked. And another fish was over cooked. When paying those higher prices, that should not happen. Don’t feel the price is justified.

    Dined here last night with my mother and was very disappointed considering the location and price. We had an early reservation so the noise level was not intrusive at the start, but by meal’s end, it was quite loud. Our server was very pleasant, and knew the menu well. The olive tamponade and tomato oil that was served with focaccia bread were wonderful, but felt that another type of bread or cracker would have been a better choice. My mother had the snapper which she immediately said tasted as if it was previously frozen. She requested a substitution of the sides due to taste preference and was able to switch the starch, but would have been an upcharge to switch the vegetable as well. Not sure why, but okay. I had the chicken which was cooked just a few minutes too long and slightly on the dry side, but it was still very tasty. The asparagus was cooked perfectly, but the side ravioli were very heavy and chewy. We tried the lemoncello almond cake which was definitely too dry and needed something to counterbalance the texture. The best value of the night was the individual servings of French-pressed coffee! Unfortunately my mother was ill all day today which she associated with the snapper. An experience we’d like to forget

    This was our first visit to Verandah. Food was very disappointing. Our table of 4 had 3 different entrees and all were subpar with a very strong aftertaste that we could not pinpoint. Server was very friendly and knowledgeable but very busy. Haven’t been in a restaurant with a noise level this high in years- made conversation difficult. Restaurant is pretty and has good ambience short of the noise. Would only return for drinks at the bar.

    The starter focaccia and olive tapenade were delicious. The blue crab appetizer was delicious, especially the grilled bread. Unfortunately, the pappardelle in a creamy tomato sauce with shrimp was a bust. The dish was so over salted that it was inedible. The table next to us had the same issue with their same dish, so not real sure which ingredient was over salted. The chef came out to apologize, which was nice, but the meal was ruined. Very disappointing, to say the least.

    I wish our time was better. The server and host were excellent. The server was earned a star all by himself. He was warm, engaging and a joy to be with. The kitchen and the manager let the team down. 2 of our main dishes were unsatisfactory. The chicken was raw through the center and the medium tenderloin was rare. I get it; things happen. But how mistakes are handled becomes the strength or weakness of the institution. We were told that the beef wasn’t in fact rare, but it’s lateral cut presentation revealed the rare appearance. The reality was it was rare and instead of remaking it, the two halves were reheated resulting in a well-done tough $50 steak. The chicken was undercooked. Not a little bit but raw in the center. I returned it and didn’t want a new one. All the while the manager is attempting to gaslight us with terms like “a touch to rare” or “perhaps a bloodline” as if we are not seasoned diners. When that tactic didn’t gain traction is was the great giveaway of desserts and drinks. When the kitchen screws up, the manager needs to be honest and acknowledge it immediately. Simply say, “We messed up. It’s on us and what can we do to make it better?” I hope Verandah uses this review as a learning opportunity as I rarely leave a less than favorable review and have dined out thousands of times. I wish them the best moving forward.

    This will be our last time. Based on the reviews that we read, we decided to give the restaurant another chance. Unfortunately they have not improved since our last visit from a couple of years ago. We ordered based on the server's recommendation. The foie gras was moussed like a fish dip without explanation. The house made burrata was so touch you had to cut hard with a knife. The grouper and snapper were unbelievably mediocre for the price. The gnocchi that the snapper was served with appeared microwaved and was tough. Overall, no one in our group enjoyed the meal.

    Our entire evening at Verandah was fabulous! From a gracious and immediate welcome, a special appetizer that was literally fired, to the best food we can remember ever having enjoyed. Verandah has a unique menu with a large variety of meals. The wait staff was attentive and all were so polite and happy! Just made our evening a real enjoyment! Tip: everyone needs to try their Fresh Chicken for a real treat!

    Worst dining experience in years. Classic case of a restaurant putting on airs of being upscale but not following through. Evening started well with a warm welcome and well made cocktail. But once we got to our table, so many things wrong. Spend $200 on a bottle of wine yet all they have are cheap glasses not fit for a $26 bottle. Over extended staff had me getting up to get fresh pepper, pour water, and wine. Staff not trained to cover each other so definitely a management problem. The food was not good at all. $55 filet was not a real filet. No idea what cut. But we sent it back. Purportedly best seller grouper lacked flavor and was cold. Based on reviews we were excited to celebrate there. Left with commitment to not eat in the resort.
