New Jersey restaurateur Alexander Duran (Co-owner @SonCubanoNJ) is launching VENTANAS Restaurant & Lounge, a Cuban-Asian-American fusion eatery at The Modern, a new residential development from SJP Properties in Fort Lee, NJ. ⠀⠀ Cuban dining is getting a boost from David Burke, the chef behind BLT Prime, the steakhouse at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC. ⠀⠀ Burke, who lives in Fort Lee, will be the culinary managing director at VENTANAS, which will feature a menu by Celebrity Chef Ricardo Cardona who serves as the chef for the New York Yankees during home games that will be Cuban-Asian-American “fusion” dishes. ⠀⠀ The 7,000-square-foot space will seat 150 people in the dining room, which comes with a chef’s table, 50 people in the tapas lounge and bar, and 75 to 100 people on the outdoor terrace bar and lounge.

We ran about 15 minutes late for reservation and were still seated right away. Staff is friendly, food was good although my smoked old fashioned cocktail was not up to par.

The ambience is very good, with high ceiling and art decor, large glasses facing the court yard.
The bar room is noise than the dining room, when the band is playing it was very loud and hard to make conversation. The food is above average, I would not recommend the crispy skin pork shank which is huge ,
the skin is somewhat crispy but not as crispy as the real Chinese roast pig, the meat does not melt in your mouth. The scallop is good , also fillet mignon. The obligatory valet parking cost $8 on friday and saturday and $5 for the other days, then they expect a tip too! In conclusion, the restaurant is upscale, able to impress guests but the food is mostly average and expensive.

I decided to do something different while entertaining a client. From the moment you step in to the exquisitely decorated Ventanas you know crossing the bridge from NYC was well worth the time. We tasted the calamari/wing appetizer, short ribs croquettes, sushi, filet mignon, skirt steak, hipster fries, pork shank. I might be forgetting a couple of items but it was all delicious. Portions were actually much bigger than we expected specially the pork shank can feed two or three. This restaurant will definitely define the dining scene in NJ and will satisfy the restaurant needs for locals and visitors alike. Only complaint no hooks to hang a purse in the bathroom.

All the food was delicious with the exception of the steak ordered. We requested medium only to get it well done. But otherwise everything else was fantastic!

happening spot for drinks, very loud, food mediocre, service good. They need work on the kitchen end - menu interesting but a lot of items are so specific - as in not for everyone that it limits choices

The food was really good as was the service. The ambience was not exactly my taste. It’s very club like with loud music (Some of it live) and quite the colorful crowd. I had to shout to my friends to be heard during our meal. I don’t mind that in a club but when you’re trying to have a conversation with the people you’re out with, it gets tiring after awhile.

I took my wife there for our anniversary dinner. It was $322, which I don't have a problem with.
The issues i have are the following:
My entree, two center cut pork chops, were both undercooked. Their center was pink, almost translucent. The server took them back but only to grill them again, not provide new ones. By taking them back through the grill again you overcook the outside and dry out the inside. Unacceptable and not right.
The dessert, an apple tart, was mediocre at best, not fitting a restaurant of the caliber this place aspires to be. Our appetizer, the softshell crab, came with flavorless deep fried avocado, for some reason.
On the good side, the drinks were amazing, the server was very good and attentive and the place is beautiful.
The celebrity chef appears to be more focused on the celebrity part of his title.

Service was awful! The food was mediocre...our order came within 10 min of ordering. The food was cold, stale and untasteful. Shocked due to the chefs that own this place. They are definitely not cooking!

This place is just as beautiful as Son Cubano and a scene to be seen. For celebrity chefs we were a tad disappointed in food being cold and not as good as the NYC venues associated with the chefs . Sometimes when first open it's more the flow of the kitchen . Some items were very good like the sushi and then the steaks were barely room temperature and nothing special. Service , drinks and wine list good .

I arrived at 2:30pm, Saturday the 6th of April for brunch so the noise level was non existent. I had the scrambled ostrich egg which was my first time, taste like a reg chicken egg to me. The staff was professional but the silverwear was spotted not clean enough. My date had the chicken and waffles that was excellent

Honestly, I read the reviews ahead of time about the noise level but I still wanted to try it...not a good place to catch up with an old friend-I went two nights ago and I’m still hoarse from screaming-WAY TOO LOUD.
I live in fort lee and for the life of me, I’ve never seen characters like this anywhere in town-where did all these people come from? I literally felt like I was thrown back into the 80s in the clubs of the time-and not in a good way!
Food adequate, noise level crazy, price point high, obligatory valet for $8 annoying-
Would not recommend

The ambiance is great. Food presentation and temperature needs some improvement. I stated the this was a special anniversary and hostess sat us at a table facing valet parking as our view. They quickly moved us to an appealing table and everything from there was much better. The wait staff is excellent. This is definitely a "try once" place and maybe a"return for drinks and apps" place. The drink and wine pours are not generous, however, for $16 + a pop.

I was just at this new restaurant for dinner. When we arrived we were not asked if they could take our jackets and they sat us all the way in the corner of the restaurant...kind of weird. The food was good other then my filet mignon coming out well done and charred when I requested it medium.

Depending on the other person’s age, my recommendations will differ. The place is gorgeous, the food is delicious and beautifully served, the service is very good.
I prefer less loud and less crowded places to spend an evening.

Everything was good , but the brought the check 5 minute after the dessert ! We want to asked for another bottle of wine but the killed the mood :/ (please don’t rush the costumers)

I would have given 4 stars, if not for these points. Cons: Saturday night, valet parking was $8, which had to be paid on the spot when you pull up!! Music was very loud, I couldn’t hear my boyfriend sitting right next to me. They definitely need improvement in service. We had to remind our server several times on our order and requests. We were celebrating a birthday and the server never mentioned anything but kept wishing the table next to us a happy birthday since he was a friend of his. Pro: Drinks were NYC pricing but food was excellent! David Burke’s menu always A+!

The ambiance and decor were great. The place was beautiful. The food was alright. We ordered a sushi roll which was decent. We ordered a shrimp ceviche and the octopus & chorizo for appetizers. The octopus was delicious, not chewy. The shrimp ceviche, on the other hand, was just shrimp cocktail with mango & what tasted like guacamole. Definitely, not ceviche. As for the entrees, both were mildly hot (temperature). The skirt steak was cooked perfectly, but lacked flavor. The crackling pork shank did not have the flavor I was expecting.
Lastly, every time I looked around, I saw the chef walking around or sitting with people.
I will return, but for the ambiance and live music which was entertaining, not for the food.

Overall, my husband and I were very happy with the whole night. Our server, Tiffany was awesome! She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and very helpful. The food was excellent. The drinks were delicious.

I think the only two things that I would give a negative rating on are the fact that you have to pay for valet. $8 on a weekend!! 🤬 I don’t agree with that at any restaurant, but even more so at a high-end restaurant.

And I would have liked a salad or something with your meal. Everything is à la cart. However, everything was delicious.

Will definitely go back!

Did not like the dining space, was a bit too loud and people constantly bumping me while passing my table and continued to stand in my space around too closely talking with people at their table. Even though the space is big and open it did not feel like it at my table. Otherwise the food was good and I met chef David Burke so that made up for it. The bar area was great!

the parking here is horrible. valets milk you for eight dollars right off the bat. the place is one big room with a large bar and table around. not a true restaurant. very loud, pricey and average.

The place is very new so they have to work on their service. I couldn't hear the waiter telling our party of 8 the specials and they took the dishes away as people were finished. I don't think any dishes should be taken away until the whole table is finished. They took a long time to seat us but they did apologize. They just need to work out the kinks. It would have been nice if one of the desserts we ordered was on the house for someone's birthday. They also mixed up decaf and regular lattes.

Food was excellent! Our server was very attentive and educated us on the restaurant history. We were never rushed out the door. Food was timely and very reasonable on price. The atmosphere is very cool. Would highly recommend this restaurant!

everything was great.. the only complaint we had was that the servers didn’t leave us alone .. we really couldn’t t enjoy a conversation or our meal.. they would keep coming over every felt like 10 min then the wine guy came over for some reason.. which we just got our dinner and had to wait till he talked so we could eat ..

Our waiter as off his game. When 1st greeting our table, He stepped away immediately to speak with & say goodbye to his Father who was leaving. Which moments prior was speaking with his Dad @ Table next to us. I get his Dad was celebrating birthday dinner. Yet He left us hanging for a couple of minutes before taking our drink order. Which he forgot to bring since he was engaged with new people @ the same Table next to us. Who did receive their drinks before us even. Though he was on point on menu offerings since we are Gluten Free. Music was too loud. Yes we were close to Band. The restaurant seemed to be more Nite Club then Fine Dining Experience.

Best overall food I've ever tasted in fort lee. This location is going to stick. love the music and it's a great place for a girls night out. Also this location is very family oriented.

Overall the experience was average at best. The ambience was nice but the decor seemed a little scattered. We first sat at the bar and ordered drinks. Our bartender was pleasant but the drinks were awful. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. My wife ordered white wine which came out room temperature. The food was delicious and came out fast. Our server was nice but the service was terrible. While we were in the middle of placing our entree order another table gestured to our waiter. Literally in the middle of taking our order the server excused himself to help the other table which happened to be right next to us. He personally got them water and returned to finish taking our order. I’m almost 40 and can’t remember something quite that rude ever occurring from a server. It made us feel very unimportant. Part of me wanted to get up and leave but we have 3 children and don’t get out much so we made the best of it.
