          I reserved a table for seven for a graduation dinner. Venezia allowed my daughter to set up balloons, a few decorations, and congratulations plates on the table. Also, she delivered a cake that Venezia kept in the kitchen so that we would not need to carry everything when we arrived for our reservation. The restaurant seemed busy; service was slow. We had to flag down a server to take drink orders. Our server was gracious, pleasant, and solicitous. Food was excellent. I ordered smoked salmon, like lox, for my entree. Other entrees were stuffed chicken breast, salmon, fettucine alfredo with chicken, chicken parmesan, and our graduated grandson ordered a boneless ribeye. All were delicious. Oh! Venezia's complimentary bread is delicious with a nice, crisp, crust. The reason for the low rating on ambience is because our table was located by the door to restrooms and by the serving area even though vacant table were available at more pleasant locations. The traffic and clanging dishes were most annoying. Taking all into consideration, we will return. Venezia is a classic and standard in Midland. More pleasant than noisey, new restaurants.

          The wait time for the food was extremely long. When they poor us water there were particles in it. The waiter would only show up when each course arrived. He wouldn’t check on us in between how are we were doing. We had a group of 9 so the tip was included into the bill. I must say with sadness that he didn’t deserve the 20% gratuity. I worked as a waitress in my past so I do know the other side of the medal and I must say that this was my worst service experience ever. By the time it was time to order dessert, the kitchen was out of most of the choices. The waiter would say he will bring more bread but he never did. He would say he will bring clean water but he never did. He just left us, and we had to go to the front to ask for a check. When my husband asked why he never came back with the clean water, the waiter asked my husband if he wants the water bottle to go. Really? We paid, we were celebrating my daughter’s confirmation so we didn’t want to make a scene. It was sad to see that we wanted to make this special dinner in the nice restaurant and I would feel better if we would go to fast food chain restaurant instead and we would receive 100% better service. Food was good. The service was bad.

          I made the reservation for us to have an early Mother’s Day dinner. It was very nice. We had a cocktail before dinner, ordered appetizers, and had a bottle of wine with our meal. We split the desert. All in all a very pleasant dining experience. The only thing I could offer a slightly negative comment on is the size of the restroom. I know there are more than one (I think) but for the size of the restaurant, in my view it is woefully small. Having said that, it will not be a deal breaker for future dining there. Great cocktails, huge wine selection, good food and service.
