Food was delicious, but charging $5 for a tiny, no more than 6-inch thin strip of overheated bread and a little slab of butter is ridiculous. Also, the wines by the glass are a little over priced. But I loved my trout, that was cooked to perfection. I think there is better value elsewhere.

Had a great lunch the other day at Venable Bistro. The waitperson was very good: knowledge, good communication, and gave good recommendations. Ended up going with the lunch special which was a good as promised. I'll certainly be going back sometime.

We have eaten here a few times and always enjoyed our meals. The menu items are inventive. Our salad had crisp, fresh ingredients. In the salade nicoise, the tuna was seared perfectly.

Our server Jen was great but it took a very long time to get our entrees. We ended up being the last table in the restaurant, inside or out. The food was good but we were surprised it took so long. On the positive side, we loved the cocktails!

Excellent selection of vegetarian and vegan food. I enjoyed the chipotle honey salmon though it was a little overcooked. On top of whipped potatoes and spinach with fried scallions...I couldn't resist. And dare to follow up with creme brulee!

We went for brunch. We ordered the special Benedict - with roasted pork and potatoes - and the French toast. Both were outstanding! The cocktails were also great. We ordered the Front Porch, the Pineapple Mimosa and the German Chocolate cocktails. All were delicious and recommended. The service was efficient, friendly and prompt. We are looking forward to coming back and trying it for dinner to see if it's just as delicious!

Always a favorite. We were with a physically disabled friend and they found a non-booth table to accommodate us. Love this restaurant! Ambience isn’t beautiful, but it is neighborly.

This is such a great place, a true local gem. My friends and I treated Venable as our regular spot for years, and it keeps getting better and better. Two things set it apart: the serving staff are all wonderful (friendly, professional, knowledgeable about the menu offerings), and the kitchen staff are very - they never disappoint. If I had to choose only one restaurant in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area in which to eat, it would always be Venable.

Venable is always good, never great or exceptional. It's fine and consistent in being just fine. Asked for salmon cooked medium and received it the standard well done, tasty side of fingerling potatoes, asparagus perfect. Creamy avocado dressing is great as usual. All in all Venable is always good, never great. It's a pleasant place to meet a friend and have a simple meal.

We had a wonderful dinner celebrating a birthday. Everything we ordered from appetizers to dessert was delicious. The service and staff are extraordinary, very attentive but not at all intrusive. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone looking for a high quality dining experience.
