Velvet Buffalo Cafe
The in-house wine bar offers a carefully curated selection of wines by the glass, as well as an extensive bottle list, from all parts of the globe.
Complement your wine selection with small plates and stone-fired pizza made with fresh, local and hand-crafted ingredients.
Enjoy open-air dining in the restaurant or eat and drink outside to the patio. There is also a private dining room and a glass-enclosed rooftop space, which opens to a terrace comfortably designed to allow you to sip and relax.
Great food! Very friendly and helpful staff. The only thing I did not like was the wooden chairs. Very uncomfortable especially when you are trying to relax by enjoying your drink and meal. The high quality of service should reflect at least on their furniture. Decor needs to feel more cozy too.
Great food as usual and wonderful ‘space’
The food was fantastic. I eat meat, my wife is vegan. We were both able to order things we like. Those choices were delicious. Its rare for us to have somewhere we can both get food we want.
Best experience in a long time! The hostess greeted us, sat us, took our coats and explained the concept of the menu. I had indicated on our reservation that it was our anniversary, and we arrived at our table to find a card signed by the staff. Aaron, our server, was very knowledgeable about the food offerings as well as the wine. He paid close attention to every detail while also leaving us plenty of time to enjoy our meal and chat. They brought out a complimentary anniversary meringue dessert that was absolutely amazing. The rooftop was closed for a private event that had ended so after dessert the manager came over and took us upstairs for a tour of the venue.
We finished the evening with an after dinner drink at the quaint bar in the middle of the restaurant. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back to enjoy again soon.
We were most impressed on our first visit to Velvet Buffalo. The staff was genuinely warm and welcoming and took great care of us. The food was nicely devised and very well prepared. We will add this to our regular rotation - wishing it was just a little closer to our home.
I expected good food. I was impressed by the service.
My only complaint is the chairs aren’t comfortable.
Drinks, appetizers, small plates all excellent. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Upscale vibe but not pretentious. Recommended.
Good food well done. We had some issues with getting all of our order. One person's food didn't come until everyone else was done eating. The meal was the same as another at out table. I think they should have been more sympathetic and, perhaps, taken the very, very late last meal off of the bill
The food was simply outstanding, interesting pairings of foods made for a very pleasant experience. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu as well as wine pairings for the meal
We celebrated my adult son’s birthday at Velvet Buffalo Cafe Sunday evening. This was our first time there. Loved the ambiance of the cafe. The service was very good. We ordered a lot of different plates to share from the menu. The dishes were beautiful presented and tasted amazing. I had informed the staff that it was my son’s birthday when I made the reservation. They had a birthday card that was signed by all the staff waiting for him on the table. Nice touch! Great place. We will definitely dine there again!
Excellent second time being there and is as good
As the first time.
Wonderful...as usual. Then a drink on the rooftop ........perfect!
Celebrate a wonderful day!
Great meal here. Service was awesome! We will go again for sure.
We enjoyed our dinner here very much - excellent service, great ambience, and a menu with enough variety that most people should find something they like. The atmosphere was elegant without being "stuffy." We will definitely be back!
My second visit since the menu change. The vegetable risotto is not to be missed. The current salmon offering was popular at our table as well. The blueberry corn dessert is superb. As I've noted before, the coffee lets this great restaurant down--please improve!
It was a beautiful restaurant, very inviting! All of the wait staff were excellent, the cocktails were perfect, wine with the meal was perfect. There were very few items on the food menu that interested me. We had the deviled eggs as a starter, delicious, but overpriced for only 2 halves. Shared a delicious strawberry, beet, watermelon salad. Nothing on the entree selection sounded good, so my husband and I shared a artichoke and sausage pizza which was very good. Prices were quite a bit off for our area, but we had a wonderful evening. I wanted to try this place, glad I did.
Food was excellent! Highly recommend the mushroom bruschetta! The blueberry sweet corn tart was also phenomenal. Great selection of wine also. Everything was really great. The chairs were uncomfortable, like to the point I just wanted to stand, but it won’t stop me from visiting there again
Our experience at the velvet buffalo was great, from the service to the food and ambiance of the restaurant nothing but great. I do not believe it is overpriced but I do feel like the food portions were a on the small side, with that said I will be returning in the near future.
Great food, great service. Rooftop bar could be improved as far as selection of liquors. Beer was a bit warm. Bartender was very nice and friendly. Apologized for not having what I asked for. We’d go back as the rooftop has beautiful views but there is no eating up there. Just what I call a pop up bar.
Outstanding food. Best Risotto dish I have had in years. Save me a table, I'm coming back
Our server, Midas, was fantastic. However, we never got served at the bar as we waited for our table. When we did order drinks after being seated, it took quite a while to get them. Food also took a while and it was not a full house when we were there.
Nice place, very nice staff. We ate in the sidewalk patio and the lack of class from the passing cars and skateboarders subtracted from the experience.
Amazing selection, taste and service! The only thing was loud traffic while dining outside.
Beautiful restaurant and bar. Food tasted amazing! Presentation of the food and wine was outstanding but very pricy. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
Sarah was an excellent hostess. The food and wine was outstanding as always . We love eating there and filling our Velvet Passport !
Food was great but the service was subpar. After we had completely finished our appetizer our waitress came back over and very snottily asked if we actually planned on ordering a meal. She never came back to check on us after we got our appetizer, and so that we could order an entree. After we finally ordered we never saw her again.
Service was good. Seemed slow so there were a lot of employees standing around and hovering around our table. Food was good, disappointed with the walleye (batter way too thick).
Yes, We thought it was Wonderful.
But with eating desert there was a popcorn seed in the dessert and as I was eating the dessert I discovered that the seed. I now have a chipped or broken tooth...They did comp me for the dessert..
Pork belly was excellent. Menu was descriptive and great choices.
We had a party of 6 and the service was very spotty. The food was, in general very good. We finally spoke with the manager and he gave us a significant discount on our bill and apologized for his staff. Will likely give it another try since we liked the food and atmosphere.
Gave mostly outstanding ratings. The only con is that the banquette was a little
Great food. Don’t eat outside.
Excited to be there. Wonderful waitress and great food
Wine a little expensive for a weak pour
Good service, good food (small plate approach allows sharing or not eating too much) and good wines. Nice Bistro-style ambience.
Waitress was great, all of the dishes were nicely presented and flavorful. Noticed that the wine was stored without temperature control, which considering the exorbitant pricing is a dicey proposition
I shouldn't have looked at the wine menu before eating the food. The food is excellent! The wine menu is pleasantly extensive but, as is most venues, engorgingly over-priced (even for their cheaper wines). Montepulciano for $47/bottle (you can buy it for $9-11/bottle). So I paid $11 for a "short-poured" glass of a different dry red. Even though I can afford it, it ruined the rest of the experience for me even though I enjoyed the food. The outside seating is nice although on a busy corner (traffic/noise-wise) and they could use some sort of shade for those bright sunny days.
Perfect night. It somehow was even better than the first time we visited. Had a table right next to the wide open windows which was a perfect setting. The food and drinks were once again spectacular. Velvet Buffalo is not to be missed. We will be back many more times.
Delicious food, great outdoor seating. Highly recommend.
