Velvet Buffalo Modern Italian delivers fresh ingredients with a side of rustic charm. Our rotating seasonal menu features thoughtfully crafted dishes made from scratch that are inspired by the many regions of Italy–from house-made pasta and artisan-style bread to sustainably sourced seafood and our own spin on traditional desserts.
Very dark inside. Had a hard time reading the menu. We told waitress we had never been there before. She brought bread and some plates but never told us there was oil on the plates. No extra cheese for bread or pasta dish.
We loved the atmosphere and the food! Our server was wonderful and attentive. We have nothing to complain about. It was a wonderful time.
Really enjoyed our fine dining experience. Everything was wonderful. We felt like we were downtown Chicago.
We had a 7:30 reservation. We went to the rooftop at 6:30 and told the hostess we would be there. We came down for our reservation at 7:30 and were told our table would be opening in a few minutes. We sat in the lobby and waited until 8:15. At that time we saw two other two tops walk in and they were seated right away. So...we asked and there was a table for us. I think the hostess may have forgotten to mark us as checked in.
The food tasted great and the presentation of it was 5 stars...but it was luke warm.
Overall a disappointing evening for the type of higher end restaurant this is...
The food was not good at all. I was most disappointed by the bartender wearing her mask around her chin while pouring drinks, to the point that I only had one glass of wine for fear of how she was working. Also, our table was less than 6 feet away from another table that a couple was seated at. Our waitress was very good, but overall a disappointing experience.
Pleasantly surprised. This was my first time here with some work colleagues (I work in Beloit and live in Madison) and it was awesome. Drinks, food, wine and service were all excellent; and the price was on point. Cool bar with a solid cocktail list and dope vibe. This spot would give a lot of places in Madison a run for their money. Highly recommended.
Everything was top notch. The chef is so talented!!!
It was a extra busy night and due to the wine walk, the entire hotel, restaurant and roof bar was pretty much slammed. The staff handled it very well and while we were seated about 30 minutes late for our reservation because of the great service, by staff who remained gracious under the extra strain and the food was perfect, from the bread served with infused oil and fresh salt and pepper to the final bite of peanut butter ice cream. We brought some picky eaters with our normally very foodie group and everyone left satisfied and already planning what they would get next time. We will all make this a regular stop when we are in town. Thanks for a good evening!
Service was great! Food was burnt not very tasty but only two out of four of us! The other two meal were great! Tables too close together and chairs are not very comfortable nowhere to set your purse!!
Amazing service, food, atmosphere, inventive and delicious cocktails
We celebrated my daughters 29th birthday here this past week. Had a lovely time! Great service, great food.
The wait staff out performed. One of them even bought out dessert! Unexpected things like that we appreciate.
Delicious delicious food! Attentive service. Seating could be more comfortable, only downfall of the restaurant.
It’s one of the best places to go in Beloit! Very friendly staff
Food was Excellent! Friendly service and neat atmosphere.
Everything was simply perfect! The service was excellent and the food and drinks: top notch! Highly recommend!!!
Amanda D. Was our server and we love her. She is a doll! All of our dishes were excellent. The whole experience was very nice. We will continue to be customers! So glad I made the reservation!
Easter with out of town guest
First time at VB, definitely won’t be our last. Service was awesome, dessert was amazing (chocolate tiramisu)
Amazing meal. Food was incredible (both meat and vegetarian options). Server was attentive. All great!
Our server was very knowledgeable about our wine selection as well as giving us the best entrée recommendations, hands-down the best steak we have ever had!
Lovely setting; service started out super but degraded at the end. Our water glasses barely dropped an inch before being refilled, but our server was nowhere to be found after our food was served. Our dirty dishes stayed in the table until we left. We couldn’t understand what happened.
The lamb pasta dish was poorly done. A smoky flavor and bland. The lobster gnocchi had an excessive amount of sauce and was very heavy and salty. The spinach lasagna with Bolognese was excellent. We were very disappointed in two of the three dishes. I had gone to the VB prior to its conversion to Italian; I liked it better before.
We didn’t comment to the server since she seemed distressed. My husband says he won’t go back. I’ll give it another shot without him. Restaurants are tough to do well and this one has some improvement opportunities in my opinion. Give it a shot, but if you don’t care for the dish, maybe tell them immediately. My husbands lamb was really not edible and he wasn’t willing to send it back. Shame on us for not speaking up.
Excellent food and service
Velvet Buffalo : The Tortellini Parsnips was excellent. The Baked Lobster Gnocci was very good. The Bruschetta was very delicious.
We had a great girls night at velvet! I am in love with the pizza. And wine. Service was professional and friendly. Can’t wait to return.
Forgettable food, scandalous prices, it is everything one should expect from downtown Beloit.
The setting is lovely, nice spacing and beautiful surroundings. Service was efficient and well timed. We brought a couple who were new to the Velvet Buffalo. They enjoyed the food and conversation and told us they were looking to return.
Good flavoring in the starters and mains
It was our second time dining here, food and service have been great both times!
Wonderful in every way from the restaurant to the rooftop !
We walked in for a birthday celebration and was so excited as we walked over to a beautiful farm table with sixcandles, a bottle of Prosecco, and a bday card from the staff waiting. Our server, Sara, was wonderfully attentive, and each plate was exquisitely plated. Do not skip dessert whatever you do!
We had been wanting to try this restaurant for some time. We had nice beverages, the steak was delicious, however very overpriced. The Lasagna was my least favorite I have ever had.
It's a great date night location, but for the price it could better. Drinks are very expensive. I will go back but if I'm dropping 200 bucks a couple.. 615 club or a drive to Rockford is a better deal. Server is great..we have had him several times.
Kids loved the pizzetta and spaghetti. We loved the mussels, pastas, and cocktails.
Wonderful food and service!
I loved the food and atmosphere.the food was fantastic.
Small menu but everything we tried had a bunch of flavor. Very good!
The food was awesome. Italian with a twist. The portions were generous!
Superb dinning experience.
Friendly bartender, great drinks
Best Caesur Salad we have ever had.
Salsiccia Suprema Pizzetta was amazing - crust awesome - housemade sausage - to die for!!!!!!!!!!
Mushroom Gargenelli was spot on. Pasta cooked perfectly. Plenty of mushrooms.
Quiet, romantic, beautiful ambience. White lit trees thruout were stunning.
Cant say enough.
Then we went upstairs to the rooftop area and were blown away again
This is going to be our new hotspot.
