   Lovely meal with fabulous wine. The overall experience was a delight. The cod and lamb were tasty. We’d recommend to anyone staying at the hotel. It was a great meal.

   The food was good, but not spectacular, when you would like to receive a fine-dining experience. I don't know if the chef has changed, but it does not feel like a two-rosette restaurant. The photos of the food on the website are far away from the real food presentation. The swrvice was ok, but not a fine-dining restaurant service. Overall, good reastaurant but not anything special.

   Beautiful room & layout. Head waiter was very welcoming and quick to seat us (little too eager to ask us about table water before sitting us down), wasn’t asked about drinks which was very disappointing as would have liked to have had wine with mains and dessert (only had water for the whole meal). The food mains itself was faultless, although the truffle ‘chips’ weren’t anything to rave about (wouldn’t order again). Once food order was placed there was no check backs from wait staff to check anything was good so service was a bit disappointing for the stand you’d expect at that venue. Also, it was a birthday occasion for both myself and partner and there was no extras that you would normally get at a restaurant, would have expected a comp glass of wine or even happy birthday writing on a dessert plate with a candle but there was nothing that made it an occasion when it was asked upon booking about occasion. Would say overall it was mediocre and missed the mark of standard you would expect.

   We had a very special Mothering Sunday lunch experience and were incredibly well looked after by Nilesh and the Vellore team. Table with a view, rose gift for my mother, and a delicious buffet with a wide variety of quality options. My mother and I greatly appreciated the clear gluten free labelling and choices, and tasty gluten free lemon cheesecake, which was beautifully presented. We loved the brilliant pianist with wide classic, jazz and contemporary music repertoire, which created a lovely atmosphere.

   Like most of the reviews I read after booking this for mother's day dinner The hotel and surroundings are really lovley , the meal itself overall was poor , cold roast dinner for main coarse and starter's and puddings very mediocre. Definitely not the quality as stated ! The piano player was a lovley addition and helped save us from the slow service. Sat outside in the front terrace afterwards for drinks which was very nice.

   Disappointing Experience with Untapped Potential We recently visited this restaurant, expecting a five-star experience, but unfortunately, it fell short in many areas. Upon arrival, the restaurant was not ready, and we were left waiting in the lounge. Eventually, we were informed they were behind with setting up. To their credit, they offered a complimentary round of drinks, which was a thoughtful gesture and appreciated. A small bouquet of flowers for Mother’s Day was also a nice touch. However, we were only seated 30 minutes after our original booking time. The food was served buffet/carvery style, but with minimal attention to detail. There was just one vegetarian option—a dry nut roast—for my daughter. There were no menus or labels on the dishes, making it unclear what was being served, and little effort was made to provide allergy information. Fortunately, we didn’t have any dietary restrictions, but the lack of clarity could be concerning for others. The buffet was also poorly equipped with a lacking of serving utensils and plates! The food itself was mediocre at best—not what you would expect from a five-star hotel. The overall service and quality did not come close to matching the setting, which is a real shame, as the location and dining room clearly have huge potential. With better preparation, improved service, and more attention to detail, this could be a fantastic dining experience. Unfortunately, it missed the mark this time.

   At the end of last year, my friend and I reserved a table to have lunch at the Vellore last weekend and had a very bad experience. Firstly, we were told that they didn't have our reservation, despite receiving an email from OpenTable that same morning to remind us of the booking, to which I responded to say we would be coming! Then the waiter told us that the reservation we had made was for a special offer from Christmas time, which was no longer valid. We booked the table at the time (Nov/Dec) with the special offer in place, so we don't know how this would be possible. We then had well over an hour's wait from our original table reservation time of 14:30 to get our food. There were only 4 people in the whole restaurant: us and a couple sat next to us, who we understood were on a spa & lunch day, but we thought it was a bit inappropriate for them to be allowed to have lunch wearing bathrobes at a 5-star hotel. When the food eventually arrived at 15:50, a chicken Caesar salad and fish and chips, the 'chicken' in the salad was as hard and crispy as bacon. It was really not good. All in all, we found the waiter to be quite 'off' with us throughout the time we were there. In the end, however, he gave us a discount to reflect the reservation mix-up. Such a pity, as I organized a client gala dinner here many years ago and was impressed at the time, but this was a very disappointing experience from start to finish. It seems the hotel has gone downhill since then. This was supposed to be a fine dining experience for us, but there wasn't even a hint of fine dining about it, and, sadly, I will not be recommending it again in the future.

    The food was lovely once it came. We were a party of 4, 2 mains arrived without one side dish way before the other two meals. In fact one of the mains was finished when the other two arrived with the side dish for the one finished. The steaks arrived without chips which we had to ask for. 3 Desserts arrived not 4. In the morning the wait for breakfast was a good 30mins. We waited 45 mins for a sandwich and panini's at lunchtime! Great food if you have plenty of time.
