It was fine. Food wasn’t fantastic for the prices. A little too expensive. Mussels were great
I have eaten at Velo quite a few times but always for dinner. Every time I have been extremely satisfied. However, this time I went for lunch and was not nearly as satisfied. Though the salad that I ordered tasted nice, it was served with way too little salad dressing (my lunch partners was also served with too little salad dressing). But my larger complaint was the serving size. A lunch salad should not be the same size as a side salad. I left Velo hungry and needed to supplement my meal as soon as I left the restaurant. The service was lacking as well, as our waiter never checked in to see whether everything was satisfactory.
This is one of my favorite restaurants, the food is excellent, the wait staff is very friendly and professional, and I never feel rushed.
The food was excellent! Service was on point and we didn’t have any issue with the noise level although the room was small and tables are close
Have passed by many times, finally went in. Food is quite good and service prompt and courteous. We I’ll definitely return.
Absolutely amazing, the food as always was fabulous and Andrew went above and beyond to make my birthday incredible. This is one of my favorite restaurants and it just keeps getting better.
Creative and well executed dishes. We enjoyed our meals.
We had a great pre-theater dinner here. Our server George was very attentive and the wine and food were great. Both the salmon and mahi mahi special were unique and tasty as were the appetizers. Two people in our party also had one of the pasta dishes which was delicious. We will definitely be back. Great food, service and value.
A neighborhood favorite featuring outstanding food, intimate atmosphere and warm friendly staff. Great during the week when tables are more available.
This was a wonderful place..food was spectacular and our server Rob was extremely attentive and knowledgeable.
The food was good but the portions were tiny. I ordered a pasta dish and it would’ve left a child hungry. Being that it was only pasta-which costs practically nothing—velo could at least fill up the plate for 28$.
Had dinner on Tuesday, 3/26/19 with old friends and everything was outstanding!!!
You must try the cauliflower soufflé appetizer and the beignets for dessert!
Our server was excellent!
We will be back!!
We enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. We will defintely return.
We were very pleased with the service and ambience, and further surprised by the excellent dishes. Enjoyed having the option to order from two different portion sizes and get to taste various dishes during our first visit. Will definitely return and bring friends.
We hadn’t been there in a while and we were unfortunately underwhelmed. It was restaurant week so it was very crowded, which could have contributed to the extremely slow service. The food was good but not exceptional. my scallops actually arrived on the cold side which made them much less enjoyable. We couldn’t have a normal volume conversation either. We both left wishing we had made a different restaurant choice.
No weekend Hudson valley restaurant week
My only suggestion for the future would be to include a few items from the regular menu on the restaurant week menu. Having never been to Velo previously, I would like to try something (perhaps a signature dish) that I could enjoy and then re-enjoy at a future date.
Food was delicious and served hot. Beautiful presentation. Service was excellent. Nice ambiance but a little noisy. Would definitely recommend this restaurant
great food, great ambiance, outstanding service....neighborhood gem
The restaurant had a nice ambiance and was bustling. We went at 8:30 on a Saturday night. The food was delicious. I especially recommend the mussels and calamari appetizers. We shared pizza for dinner which was excellent!
Told somewhat abruptly that they needed our table, time to go. Waiter seemed stressed out he had to tell us this.
I hadn't been to Velo in almost a year, and I'm not even sure why! It was absolutely excellent, from appetizers to mains (too full to eat dessert). I had salmon (which yes, ok boring), but they totally made it the most un-boring it could be. Truffle mousse on a perfectly poached salmon filet? Amazing. Everyone in our party enjoyed their dishes as well. The Osso Buco special was a big hit as well.
Service was very good and they did not rush our bring the courses out one on top of the next. We liked the half portion ideas . Food was good but it’s pricey.
Excellent food as always. Dinner is going to cost at least $100 and it’s the one place I’m willing to go out and splurge on.
Both the service and food were exceptional. The timing of the courses was perfect, noise level can be high and minimal space between tables can make for some accidental bumping. Overall, this is a must for dinner and I already plan on returning.
Outstanding food and service.
Good food and service at this Nyack favorite.
Great Food and Service. It was our first time dining at Velo, and it won’t be our last.
Our recent dinner at Velo was exceptional from start to finish! The excellent warm bread with lightly seasoned olive oil could have been a meal by itself. The salad with vanilla vinaigrette was delicious and light, and both pastas, gnocchi with lamb ragu and cavitelli with veal osso bucco were among the best we have ever tasted. Add a very reasonably priced bottle of Primitivo and this was our best restaurant experience in Rockland /Westchester in a long time! Kudos to Anthony and his staff.
Great..... as always !
Met a former coworker to celebrate my retirement over lunch. We love to come here for the delicious pasta lunch and to look outside at the people passing by. We enjoy the choice of wines.
I took my sister to Velo to celebrate her 50th birthday and she absolutely loved It!
I have never had a bad experience at Velo. The staff is friendly and courteous. They are knowledgeable about their menu and always have good insight. My wife and I go to Velo for special occasions because the price is on the higher side, but I have never felt ripped off. You definitely get what you pay for. Great seasonal, local ingredients. Creative and unique pairings of ingredients and flavors and, at least, three signature dishes I have not had anywhere else (the cauliflower stormata is ridiculous!!!!). Recently, I have become vegan. They have a vegan entree if you ask (no promises, but they had it the last two times I went). Can't say enough good things about this place. Check it out if you get a chance.
It had been a while since we last ate at Velo; we were there because our friends suggested we meet them there for dinner. The food was terrific, much better than we remembered from our last visit. Good service, good atmosphere: we had a really nice time.
I met my cousin there for a quiet lunch and we were delighted to get the window table. After some deliberation, we each had the Velo salad with salmon and split the mussels which were yummy and huge! It was the perfect lunch, and we will definitely return!
Can’t wait to go back! Will be getting gift certificates!
Did not rush us
We are Nyack veterans. Why haven't we been there before?
If you have not been, why not??
A charming restaurant with wonderful food and service. The quail was perfectly prepared. Pasta had ample sauce. Will return!
Divine dining and drinks with beautiful decor. Enjoyed the sublime cauliflower sformato and mahi mahi special. Gluten free butternut squash/brie and onion pizza is superb. And stay for dessert-the carrot cake was outstanding.
Our waiter Andrew was on top of everything we needed!! Outstanding service as always with Andrew. Food was amazing
