I have eaten there for breakfast and lunch many times. We finally decided to try dinner. The services was excellent but we felt dinner was very expensive . I ordered the bronzino…half of the filet was full of bones. Everything is alacart.We shared a salad, ordered the entrees and two sides. Our bill was over 100 with tip.. Too high for a neighborhood resturant. We will continue to go there for breakfast or lunch.

Walking in to the restaurant, it had a nice feel. Dimmed lighting and warm feeling. My group of 4 , scheduled for 7:45 reservation, had to wait at the door for about 15 minutes for our table. As all were still filled. We were compensated by 2 desserts for our inconvenience. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. The food for the most part was tasty and well executed. One complaint was the mozzarella stick appetizer. It came out as 2 very small disks of mozzarella sandwiched between 3 large tomato slices, more of a tomato salad. The cheese not the star. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. It was my first try at dinner there. I will try again.

We were seated at the perfect outdoor table and had the attention of our server immediately. There were two specials but the four of us ordered from the menu. DH enjoyed his octopus appetizer very much. The other couple shared a salad. Two people ordered the Bronzino and they both enjoyed it and noted that the tail curled up after the fish was filleted in the kitchen giving it an attractive look. This dish does not come with any side vegetables and looked a bit lonely on the plate. The chicken was the choice for one person and it had lots of interesting mushrooms and he enjoyed it. I ordered the salmon and it came with rice, scallions and avocado. Don’t forget this is a BYO.

We have been to Velo Cafe twice and the food and service has always been very good. We sat outside on the sidewalk which was nice on a Sunday evening. The lobster ravioli with jumbo shrimp was excellent as was the salmon entree. Prices seem to have gone up significantly however it’s a byo so that helps keep the overall price reasonable. Would definitely recommend Velo Cafe.

Delicious entrees. Special was an unusual fish (king clip) which was prepared beautifully. We also had the salmon. Description of the preparation was unique and we were curious to see and taste it. (Options for blackened or broiled are there for those less adventurous.). We were very pleased with the chef’s creativity. We’ll definitely be back.

Like many restaurants in Ventnor the outside dining is on the sidewalk overlooking Ventnor Ave and a neighborhood side street. Not particularly charming , but it allows you to avoid inside dining which was our goal. The inside decor is lovely and was an option we could have chosen. The food and service were very good. The octopus appetizer was outstanding, and the Cafe salad very good. We ordered Bronzino and lobster ravioli topped with crab meat and jumbo shrimp, both excellent. The main course came out while we were finishing our appetizers, which shouldn’t happen in a high end restaurants. But just a minor blip in an evening of otherwise stellar service. Overall a solid meal and good dining experience that we greatly enjoyed. Not cheap but in today’s inflationary environment fairly priced for gourmet food.

I am so angry I will never go back to this place again!!! We go in and there were 8 tables open and they give us the table right at the door the air from the door was so annoying I had to hold up the menu to male the air stop hitting jr in the face!! My husband got up n asked the HOSTESS to move us and she asked the owner and he said NO!!! We walked out because there were 8 open tables and they wouldn’t move us!!! Bad business practice!! NEVER AGAIN

Our young waitress was pleasant but she rarely popped by to check out how we liked our food. The busboy splashed our mussels broth over my pants and shirt but all was forgiven. I enjoyed my king clip fish dish and the bronzino was also good. My daughters tuna and our other daughters steak were both over cooked. Overall, a decent meal but could use a little more creativity. Good for once a season at the shore
