Our focus is traditional North Indian cuisine served to share in an edgy and modern dining room, accompanied by a full bar offering wine, draft beer, and a unique craft cocktail program.
Amazing food. Great ambiance. Great service. Drinks were awesom2 too.
We went for Valentine’s Day and the set menu was perfectly portioned out. Everyone was so extremely nice and accommodating even for a busy day. The only complaint was I asked for a romantic seating area (the view was a curtain) but I understand it being Valentine’s Day options are limited. We would love to be back again we had a great experience!
Lamb chops were not good. Spice level 4/5 was NOT spicy at all. If you love spicy food or any spice at all, do not get them because they are bland
Great atmosphere and drinks, friendly service, and overall very good food. Loved the restaurant week menu. Only complaint is that the salmon was insanely dry and fishy. Other than that, we loved everything else we had!
We had a nice experience at Veda but it was weakened by lackluster service. While our waiter seemed to have an understanding of his role, the people delivering food and removing plates were sloppy and made some glaring mistakes. Plates were literally pushed around and dirty silverware was moved around on our table between the courses. These areas of service took away from our overall experience. The food was wonderful and the cocktails were enjoyable.
Waitresses and waiters were very nice . The food was simply amazing . Trying different tastes while in the same food group was amazing . There were mint leaves inside of their mango sherbet, and that was something I have never heard of . Will gladly go back again
Excellent nouvelle Indian restaurant. Nice decor, interesting menu, attentive staff. The food was well prepared and pleasantly spiced.
went for dinner during CCD restaurant week. Food was spectacular. Had a house specialty mohito
that was brilliant . would go again and again . Great Experience !
It’s is our second time here in two weeks and we are still having a good time. We’ve tried quite a few things and we will keep coming back for the food and service! They are very helpful and you don’t feel overwhelmed!
I love India food and the vegetarian food here is very nice.
Food was not impressive, will not come again.
Veda is Delicious!!! I went for dinner during restaurant week and the experience was great, I will definitely be back.
GOOD APPETIZER (EXCEPT WINGS WHICH WERE TASTELESS)
PLATES AND SLIVERWEAR WERE NOT WASHED PROPERLY
TRIED LAMB AND CHICKEN CURRY BOTH HAD NO FLAVOR, SEEMED LIKE LOT OF WATER WAS ADDED TO THE CURRY
Food and service were good, but the drinks were outstanding. So many creative choices and very well executed.
The hostess was quite rude to my friends who were waiting for us to arrive. She threatened to give away our table if we didn’t arrive in 6 minutes. There was no line and no one waiting and they wouldn’t seat anyone until the entire party arrived. There was only 4 of us and we were parking the car as she was threatening to give away the table. It’s not like my Friends were just waiting around they went to the bar and were ordering drinks which they would have done the same if they were at a table! We weren’t even 15 minutes late to the reservation and our friends were at the bar ordering drinks And they still wouldn’t seat them even though they were there and we were on our way. Service was good. Food was ok. Small portions. Menu listed gulab jamun with rose ice cream. They didn’t bother to tell us that they didn’t have any more of the Rose ice cream and just gave us vanilla. They served one little gulab jamun ball with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. I’ve never been to an Indian restaurant that serves 1 gulab jamun ball as the dessert. It’s usually 3 pieces or more per one serving. Portions for price are not typical like at most Indian places. They were quite small. The malai kofta was very tasty as was the spinach chaat. The bacon chili paneer naan had no chilli just tasted like bread stuffed with bacon bits. Not a fan at all. The lamb was good but the mussels were great!
The food was Ecstatically pleasing and delicious. Many vegetarian options. The ambiance was very warm, intimate and inviting. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would definitely eat at Veda again.
19 year Anniversary
Great Indian fusion food. Creative fusion options as well as authentic dishes. Went for restaurant week and had a great 4 course meal with some delicious drinks.
Fine dining experience for Restaurant Week. Food was very good and with four courses almost more than we could. Salmon dish was my favorite and pictured by my review. Apparently not on the regular menu, though.
Veda might be my new favorite place to eat in Philly. Restaurant week was my third time eating there. Unlike most restaurants, they don’t design the RW menu cynically to dumb down their kitchen and cut costs. Every thing I put in my mouth that night, as before, was exciting and memorable.
The menu is so creative and exciting, the atmosphere is on point, and the service was charming. An owner/manager type gentleman also checked in with us, which is always nice. The cuisine just nails that aromatic, heady magic of Indian food that feels like both medicine and comfort food; it keeps a sort of happy cloud of complex flavors hovering in your nasal cavity for an hour after the meal. Usually I find a hole in the wall to get that fix, and I still will, but Veda adds an artistic twist and puts South Asian cuisine proudly on the foodie map of Philly.
Excellent service and food! Will be going back soon
The lunch buffet is worth the trip. Wonderful staff and amazing food!
Our waiter was extremely helpful. Great service! The food is good too!
It's affordable, but our server was switched halfway through which caused confusion, drink glasses were weirdly sticky, and desserts didn't come out all at the same time. It was OK. Just not great.
Our selection of main dishes was disappointing because thy happened to be too similar. Our okra starter was the best I’ve ever had. Perhaps they were short staffed the night we came, but it took halfway through the entree for one our cocktails to arrive. I’d go back and ask more questions to make sure I get different kinds of tastes
Very good, as always.
Great food, atmosphere, and flavors. Highly recommended!
Food was amazing and our waiter made fantastic suggestions. We will definitely be back!
This was out anniversary dinner, and we told the restaurant this. Upon arrival, we gave our name and the hostess said happy anniversary. From there, the experience became too ordinary. Service was inattentive at the outset, although it did improve. My wife ordered Prosecco and we were told they were out of Prosecco. Imagine that? The State Store was 2 blocks away. The entree was tasty, especially the curry chicken and the Tandoori Shrimp. Most restaurants honor your celebration at desert time. Veda did not for us. It would have been a nice touch and engendered us to return.
Had a great time on a double date recently. Our group was composed of vegan, vegetarian, and meat eating diners and everyone was able to find multiple things on the menu to order. I recommend ordering a bunch of appetizers for the table to share because there are just so many great ones!
Delightful NYE prix fixe dinner. As a solo diner, I was treated graciously and with respect. The food was out of this world (lobster) and just enough to feel sumptuous. Fantastic cocktails, as always. Veda is one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in Center City.
Not as authentic as I hoped . Channa masala was tasteless. Same with the chicken tikka . Nice ambience with good service .
Good food. Service fine.
Great food. Had 8:30 pm reservation on a weeknight. Host didn't seat our party even though the restaurant was nowhere near full. There should be some discretion used by the host (despite the policy). We sat at bar with my 8 year daughter. Bartender was "chilly" and explained that she couldn't sit there. I forgot that that is standard protocol so I had no problem moving BUT it was the chilli-ness that got me. Server was OK. At the end of our meal, another server came to clear table and then came back to ask us for our napkins, which I found odd. Moments later, the lights were turned up brightly--to signal it was time to get out. I found this to be so incredibly obnoxious. I was really turned off by this. It was clear that the manager was tired and ready to shut things down. His desire to go home was more important than making sure his guests didn't feel rushed. We were done with our meal, as I said, but I didn't want to feel that I was an imposition. I've never experienced this before and I didn't like it. Too bad because the food was really good!! Will try someplace else next time.
everything was great. We made a reservation but moved to the bar seating for the happy hour menu. They should offer happy hour for the entire restaurant not just the bar area. But that's my only complaint if you want to call it that; everything else was 100% great
One of my favorite spots in Philly! The buffet is fantastic and great value
Philly needs a fine dining Indian restaurant. Until this happens Veda takes that place. Tangy, spicy cauliflower was tasty but very stiff. Eggplant was nice, good sauce and easy to cut. Lamb chops were fine. Soup that came after the food was presented was very tasty even if arriving late.
Solid experience, good food.
We have been to Veda several times. It is one of my husband's favorites.
This visit we had the samosas, spinach chaat, chicken tikka, mushroom korma, and garlic naan.
All of it was served with a generous bowl of basmati rice.
Everything was delicious and the service was friendly.
We will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone with an interest in Indian Cusine.
