We enjoyed our first meal there so much we wanted to take my parents to this restaurant (they live 1 hour+ away). My parent's so enjoyed that dinner and evening and I might add so did my husband and I. What an absolutely FABULOUS meal, would recommend to everyone (and have).
Our steak dinners were prepared to perfection, juicy & right temperature. Quiet setting, great place for date night or any other occasion. Will defiantly be going back.
I love the decor and the menu selections. Service was top notch. And the olives! The best!
Food and service were excellent. Will definitely go back with family. Price is very good for portions served.
Great from cocktails through dessert. The Mussels Portuguese appetizer was outstanding as were the filet mignon entrees - better than any you could get at Ruth Chris or Morton's. The wait staff was excellent - efficient without being hovering. We will pdefinitely return.
Food was very good. Service was outstanding. Wine list needs to be improved. Loved the old bank vault and the decor.
The restaurant was not busy on the Friday night we visited, which is a shame. Parking was available in the vacant lot across the street. Wines by the glass included mostly brands you never heard of, but were tasty. The lobster bisque had a surprising amount of actual lobster pieces, which was great. The veal chop was large, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The same was true of the 28 oz bone-in ribeye, which was quite tender. The bacon wrapped shrimp dish included 5 pieces of probably 10-12/lb-sized shrimp. Prices were reasonable for this type of upscale restaurant. The vegetable and potato of the day were included and were also very good. We were too full to get dessert. We hope that this restaurant survives, as we plan to go back, and will definitely consider it for occasions (birthday/anniversary) instead of our usual trip to Ruth's Chris or similar.
It was my birthday, and our family was there for dinner. The staff was very accommodating and helpful throughout the dinner. The drinks were well made with no skimping on the alcohol. The food on the menu showed variety, allowing multiple options. The meals were well prepared and tasty. I had the lobster bisque as an appetizer and thought it could be a bit thicker, but that is a personal preference. Overall it was a very good dining experience and we are looking forward to going again.
Wait staff was not good. Forgot appetizers and brought them out after main course and still charged us.
The restaurant itself was very classy. The food was pretty great too but I can't say it was with the price. I mean maybe if this was Manhattan I'd even pay a little more but this is Market Street in Wilkes-barre. I would probably just hit their other restaurant, Toscana, next time.
Took the family here for Mother’s Day...
Lobster bisque was watery
Lamb chops were awesome
Filet mignon was ok but not worth $34
Clams casino had burnt bacon on them in a watery sauce
Beautiful atmosphere servers were great.... chef needs to go back to school, or back to the line at burger king...he/she sucks...
1& a half thumbs down.... I won’t be back
My husband and I tried this place out for the first time and had an enjoyable meal. We love the way they repurposed the classic downtown band building, and were offered seating in the vault upon our arrival. I had a perfectly cooked strip steak, and my husband enjoyed his dish as well. We plan to return.
Amazing! Food was delicious and service was excellent.
Hostess was pleasant and we had about 4 waitstaff serving us. Bread was late getting to us. Ordered calamari. Calamari is meant to be crispy and this was tossed with a delicious sauce but it made the calamari soggy. Entrees came out and you get an Ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes. If you're paying more than $25 per plate, you really should not serve mashed potatoes that way. I had the veal chop which was good. Husband had pork chop and he said it was too salty. The food was hot. Overall will not be visiting again as we paid over $100 and didn't really enjoy it.
Awesome food, great prices! Definitely would go back!
Seated in the vault. Good wine. Good service. Quality of food was awesome. Service was timely and very cordial
Server did not take our drink order for quite some time after being seated, nor did she ask about refills. Utensils that were used for appetizers and salads were not replaced without us having to ask for something.
A wonderful dinner for two! The seafood was exceptional!
Great!!! The only criticism I have was my Manhattan was in a martini glass with no ice. Still tasted good but not typically how I drink a Manhattan
Ambiance and food were exceptional. Love to see an upscale dinning experience available in this locale.
Food was excellent! Service was a bit slow, and confusing. You don’t get a specific server, just whoever is walking by, it took an hour for the food to come. Food makes the wait worth while!
We really enjoyed the food. We had the short ribs and filet which were excellent. The mac and cheese was really awful, it was either bad or made with a cheese I don't like. They were gracious enough to remove it from our bill though. The service was pretty poor though. We were greeted by one person and never saw him again after we ordered. They seemed to have plenty of wait staff who all appeared busy, perhaps they need to work smarter, not harder. We were unclear who are our service person was. Overall it was a good meal though.
Excellent food service very attentive staff. Have been there twice and plan to back again. Well priced for the quality of food and portion size.
Service was very good and food was excellent. The restaurant was not crowded for a Friday night dinner hour crowd, and the staff was very attentive and gracious (would have to compare on a busy night to get an accurate read). The food was prepared exactly to my specifications and the portions were respectable in accordance with price. Decor is tasteful, elegant and the ambiance is similar to what one would find in a big-city restaurant, which is refreshing and somewhat surprising for a smallish, north-central-PA restaurant. I will be back to this little Diamond in the Rough. I hope my future experiences here continue to be this good.
My husband and I went there for Valentine's Day. We were seated in one of the smaller rooms...very romantic! The service was excellent as well as our meals. Would highly recommend The Vault!
My friends and I had a relaxing and enjoyable evening.
Outstanding steaks cooked perfectly. Great wine list. Forget about Ruth Chris or Morton's, this is the place to come for a good steak.
Took a couple minutes for someone to come to our table but once they did the experience was great. The food came out very quickly but the quality was still outstanding. Definitely will be returning.
This is an interesting restaurant. We had the Calamari Calabrese and I had the Barramundi. Both were expertly prepared and the service was top notch. The bar is a little behind the times (no domestic craft whisky), but the wine by the bottle list is quite impressive. However, I felt as if I had stepped back in time into The Saber Room or Allante's. If you're familiar then you know the quality irreproachable, but at the same time there's a reason those places are out business now; they were out of step with the times. The Vault is similar; service is great, food is great, all the staff are in tuxedos, the restaurant is in a well appointed facility, but the prices are really high and the average person doesn't eat like that more than once or twice a year. It's a level of quality that (even in larger cities) people just do regularly any more. I just don't see myself going back.
first time there but won't be the last. great ambiance and service. menu and specials were delicious.
Called a month ahead to reserve a table inside the vault to celebrate mom's bday. Once seated, an employee stopped directly in front of the vault with in our ear shot to scold the host as he claimed that he just PROMISED the table to a party of 4 at the bar. Seemed that he demanded that she moved us from the table, & I heard her sternly say something on the lines of “I’m not doing that, they had reservations.” His reply sounded like, “I DON’T CARE! I just promised it to them.” They continued to argue for a few minutes, making it very uncomfortable. They sat a visibly intoxicated party of 4 at a table behind us in inside the tiny vault area. A man in the party gave us dirty looks as he walked by (not sure what was said to him to warrant that) & the women were loud and obnoxious using filthy language the entire eve. They used the F-word MANY times. They brought drinks several times to this other table but no one ever asked if we wanted another round, nor did anyone ever refill our water glasses! After dinner, I excused myself to use the restroom. When I walked out of the rest room, the host approached me & said, “Did you want a piece a cake for your Mom’s birthday & we can sing?” I said “Oh, yes, that would be absolutely fabulous!” She asked what kind of cake, listed the choices, and I choose a piece of carrot cake. I figured this would surely make up for the extremely uncomfortable start . But, no one ever brought the cake? Instead, the guy who was arguing with the host came & threw the check on the table & walked away. I rarely take the time to point out the negatives in dining experiences, but The Vault has failed horribly! They ruined my mother’s bday dinner with the arrogance of a single employee & they have denied the satisfaction of valuable customers without a fulfillment of a promise THEY offered. Yet they did not respond to a message sent via their website, a pm on FB, or a short FB review. I guess they just DON'T CARE so I had to share! Awful!!
The historic atmosphere of this old bank was very lovely. The service and the food were excellent. This was a nice night out with friends.
Excellent meal. Great ambiance and skillful stAff
This place met and exceeded expectations for downtown Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania . A fine dining experience from the moment my party walked in, through cocktails, dinner and digistives. The staff was lovely, service and quality of food exceptional. Try the veal chops; perfection.
Liked the atmosphere and enjoyed the food The service was very good Nice menu and very nice presentaton We definitely would go back and also recommend this restaurant to friends
This was our 1st visit and we were very impressed. I had the Filet and it was done perfectly, the taste was great and it was extremely tender. My wife had fish and she loved it. Atmosphere is great, and the service was attentive without being over bearing. We will return.
The vault was exceptional. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxing and trendy. I will be going back very soon! The service was good because they don't rush you through your meal
