Welcome to Vault 164, located in the heart of downtown San Mateo. Set in the old Crocker Bank on the corner of 2nd and B, the décor uses many of the building"s antique vault pieces sprinkled throughout the dining room and bar. We feature an eclectic and contemporary American cuisine. Stop by and enjoy our bourbon and maple glazed pork chop, served on sweet potato mash, or a savory Caramelized Onion, Applewood Smoked Bacon, and Cambozola Cheese Flatbread. We offer a wide range of aged steaks and whole roasted chicken, fresh pasta, and unique salads. Our bar is great place to meet friends or watch a game, and it features a variety of classic and new cocktails, handmade to perfection, a large selection of beers on tap, and over 20 wines by the glass.

Always a good choice! Consistently excellent food in a nice environment. Try the brussel sprout chips!

Luv the ambiance.
The Food was not very good; I had the pork chop and it was so tough it was really difficult to cut. I asked to substitute the sweet potatoes for mashed potatoes; there was no problem with that, but the potatoes tasted like they were instant and came from a box. My husband said the same thing about his mashed potatoes which accompanied his salmon. He said his fish was just so-so. Our service person did not check with us at all to see if we wanted or needed anything, but the owner did come by for a quick chat. We all had a cocktail before dinner. My martini was great. We have been there several times in the past, but was really disappointed with the dinner this time.

Food was mediocre at best. Lacked taste, extremely bland. Service was fine, over priced for what you get. Won’t be going back.

Very nice early dinner. Atmosphere is quiet and comfortable. Service was a little slow but good overall.

The Blood Martini was delicious, and for my friend's birthday they gave him a complimentary Baked Alaska that was amazing. I had salmon and it was delicious (although a bit on the small side). My husband had the skirt steak and he really enjoyed it. I tasted it and thought it was really good, but a bit peppery for my taste. The server was very attentive and polite. Overall a great dinner!

Very disappointed. Ordered the most expensive T-Bone steak. Bad presentation, no sauce, over cooked and hard to get waiter’s attention.
